Hey everyone,
i've logged into my Paladin again after 3 years, it is level 78 and i have tried to grind instances as a Tank.
I feel like playing a Pala Tank is very different to all other Tanking classes, i am having difficulties keeping the threat.
The rotation is not a problem, it's really about keeping all mobs together on me. I've noticed that there are very few area attacks so it's really about keeping each mob one by one? I always wait for all mobs to be near me and cast Consecration + Hammer of the Righteous, but it often happens that mobs just draw away from me and attack the other members.
Any advice ?
Thanks

By the way, i have full Heirlooms equipped, so it has nothing to do with ilvl.

Initiating the pull uses shield, consecration, hammer of the honored 2 or 3 times, to me it has worked always keeping the pull within consecration. (No problem)

Sorry to Highjack this thread but I'm having difficulty tanking too. My issue is more with other players not being patient because I'm learning and I seem to be the one not doing my job properly. For example, not knowing the dungeon.
I'm constantly told to go DPS if I don't know the dungeon but my goal is to learn how to be a tank. How can I learn to tank if I'm spec'd to DPS? I've watched numerous videos and the rotation, I hold the aggro but always seem to get moaned at.

If you're just learning, there will always be someone who is going to just moan about it. Don't worry about those people and just keep tanking. Leveling up, not everyone has seen every dungeon or has been in that particular dungeon in a few years. Once you hit Legion level cap, it's not going to matter as we're all going to be starting on a mostly even "newness" when BFA hits anyway.

Like l8rose said. Just keep at it people are going to moan about anything and everything. If you enjoy tanking then do it. Learn from your mistakes as you go and you'll be fine.

People moaning is not the main problem. It is the idiots who throw you out of the dungeon because "They can do better without you being the tank"

The paladin prot spec is incomplete and non-viable in wow classic. For starters, paladins have no taunt. There is no paladin end game tank itemization in WoW classic.
I could go on but you get the picture. Enjoy tanking as a a Paladin as much as you can up to level 55, after that, your Paladin tanking days are essentially over in wow classic.

I believe OP was referring to Retail and also you're wrong about paladin tanking in Classic. Prot paladin are viable but not optimal. They can get around not having Taunt. There is end game prot tank itemisation in WoW Classic. And to satisfy potential questions, yes they can tank Naxx.
Happy to talk further about this subject in detail.
