Ok, right to the point. Here's my armory
http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Misha&n=Unknowing
Now, I'm not asking if I'm heroic ready NOW. I'm asking if I'll be heroic ready after I upgrade the following pieces.
Back piece to
Cloak of Eternity
Chest piece to
Vindicator's Hauberk
Bracers to
Sha'tari Wrought Armguards
Trinkets with
Dabiri's Enigma
and
Adamantite Figurine
Hopefully those upgrades will be enough. I've been running heroic mech with my guide with myself as an off tank for the
Sun Eater
Doesn't want to drop though. lol

Major flaw in your mindset from the start.

Rule one about tanking - be uncrittable.
490 defense for Karazhan and 485 for heroics.
I'm hoping my defense will get close to 485 when I upgrade my items. If not, I have an awesome tank in my guild that has been helping me with everything since I spec'd prot, so hopefully he can point me towards the gear I need.

I don't need to elaborate on my earlier statement. However, I was indeed cut off due to computer problems. As I was going to say, the only trouble you're having at the moment is appropriate defense rating (without gems).
The best thing to do is work in phases:
Acheive 490 defense & good health/armor in
at least one
suit of armor.
Acheive 490 defense & good health/armor
without trinkets
.
Mix & match all available items to determine maximum health/armor (with 490 defense) & another suit with high threat stats (with 490 defense), such as expertise, hit rating, & block value (in that order).
Acheive 490 defense & good health/armor without trinkets on 2-3 suits of armor.
One for
mitigation or avoidance
, one for highest
effective health
(stamina/armor combo), & one for the
highest threat
possible. Generally, try to maintain as much expertise as possible in all suits of armor.
Learning which type of suit to use in which encounter is one of the hardest things for a warrior to learn.
