Hello all, i recently dinged 69 warlock and began the usual grind for honor. I have around 8500 hp(give or take some, armory me if you want Synfulomen- Kargath), lately ive been getting quite frustrated with PVP, which is bad, cause i love PVP =(
My issue is that im getting wtfpwned by almost every class. I know SL/SL helps the damage reduction, but i wasnt happy with my damage output when i tried it. Felt like i was poking at the horde with a needle. So i swapped back to affliction. I keep telling myself that it will be better when i get better gear, but being the highest lvl in the 60-69 bracket has lead me to doubt >.>
Basically, i run around and DoT ppl with corrpt, SL, CoA(CoEX or CoT if the situation needs). Warriors own me, rogues, the only way i stand a chance is if they are 3-4 lvls lower. enchance shamen are easy to kite, but if im in melee range i have 2 seconds to live. Mages summon their pet and just kill me with crits. I get owned by other warlocks easily, if its a feral druids, its basically the same thing as a rogue, but they can heal.. wonderful.
I guess my question is, does it ever get better? Do i need better gear? Am i doing something wrong? Please help before i start to lvl my 29 druid or 51 rogue like the rest of the world lol. Thanks~

First off 981 armor (less than 9% physical damage reduction),and 0 resistances to all schools of magic, so your an extremely vunerable target. SL/SL Warlocks in s2 or s3 generally have around 2k armor, if I'm not mistaken, and a high amount of resistances to spells due to the buff of having a felhunter pet out while specced in
Master Demonologist
.
And, you also have 0 resilence. I realize your also facing enemies with little to no resilence, but that does make up quite a bit in damage reduction.
The SL/SL Warlock spec does in fact sacrfice quite a bit of damage, and little dispel protection, but you gain a lot of damage reduction from a lot of talents in tree. To list a few:
1.
Soul Link
2.
Master Demonologist
3.
Demonic Resilence
Hopefully I've cleared up some stuff for you.
Edit: Fixed an incorrect link

Yea, i know what SL/SL offers, it just felt so weak, i couldnt do anything before i died. Also relying on my pet which the rogue/warrior/shamen just obliterated was kinda disappointing =(
I should note, i use Felhunter almost all the time, and my resil is at 7(from wand, still pathetic i know). But do ppl really stack up on resil at 69? I thought it was primarily 70. I have 2 epics bought so far from PVPing in the 60's bracket, so that will add some resil.
Gear problems aside. Do any locks have the said problem of squishyness(inherent with cloth i know i know)? Everyone says warlocks are pretty good in PVP but im not seeing it other than casting 3-4 dots on everyone and dying. Maybe i just suck at warlock, i really wouldnt doubt it. I had no problems PVPing in the 49 bracket with Rogue, even made a horde made enough to make a toon on my realm and proceed to cuss me out via whisper lol, fun times
Thank you for the speedy response, Masterblaster

Warlocks are no longer nearly as powerful in PvP as people still think.
That said, what you can beat and how you beat them really depends on your gear, spec and the way you play your character.
For example, if you spec Felguard you might do much better against Rogues, but then Frost mages and any class that can dispel become a lot more deadly.
Full Affliction eats Mages for breakfast, but then Rogues will tear you up unless you know what you're doing. I'm currently writing up a strategy guide for Warlock PvP that i'm going to post on here in the next week or so to answer some of the repeatedly asked questions people have on here.

It's unfortunate that Warlocks retain the stigma - about 2 years dated now - of being "overpowered" in PvP. The truth is, Warlocks are a squishy target. Any Rogue or Warrior who PvPs a lot will admit that they target us first.
Soul Link provides survivability, yes - not to mention the 5% increased damage. For one talent point. But realize also that with the hybrid PvP builds you gain Demonic Knowledge, which is all the more valuable when your gear is poor (i.e. it could be increasing your spell power by 50%.)
Proper use of CC is important for every spec in PvP. You say you went Affliction (but you didn't mention UA so I'm not sure) so you at least have an instant CC option which is something SL/SL lacks. Being a DoT caster you need to stay alive. Get people to use trinkets, WotF, etc. on your fears as early as possible. Then, if you can stay alive 15 seconds so that diminishing returns reset, and then get them feared again, this is when you've won the fight. (The best-case scenario is that they use their trinket on a Fear before you've used Death Coil.)
I know how you feel in regard to the spec's. I simply cannot bring myself to play SL/SL. I have tried them all, believe me. In my opinion Demonic Knowledge blows away any other talent. With this, and the 5% from Soul Link, I see my DoTs ticking as hard as an Affliction spec, and my nukes hitting as hard as a Destruction spec. It's just that Affliction adds damage in the form of UA, and Destro adds it in the form of Conflag and Shadowfury, plus getting more crits.
Put it all together and you have a class where the more fun a spec is to play, the less viable in PvP. I love Destro, and I suffer through being gimp just because it's that much more fun than the tab-DoT-run style of SL/SL. Affliction, to me, is barely more f un than SL/SL, while lacking the selling points of the latter.
