have to tell you, the idea of a 2-hander sword wielding tank does appeal to me. The main reason I avoid the tanking roll with my warrior now, is my real preference for the 2-handed sword. So this thread got me interested and I had a look around.
Read this interview and you will be convinced that Blizz' intends for Death Knights to tank, and without a shield. I for one am into it. It looks like I may have found a way to become a viable candidate for Raid/Dungeon teams using a 2-hander. That's all I ever asked for. As for being an undead, Alliance affiliated 'Toon. We'll just have to see...
Oh yeah the interview:

The Death Knight also has three Presences, similar to a Warrior stances or Paladin auras.
* Blood Presence - DPS Presence which increases damage and heals the Death Knight slightly when attacked.
* Frost Presence - Tanking Presence which increases armor by 45% and threat by 25%.
* Unholy Presence - PvP Presence which increases movement and attack speed, and possibly lowers the global cooldown.
Make me think that DK's will not take over warrior-tank position. With that much armor it sounds like it's more of a competitor with a druid, and if you go through the list of DK's abilities on first link, it seems to me they are superior tanks for magic-bosses, but they don't seem to have any abilities geared toward physical attacks.
It's great that they can silence, but silencing a physical boss does nothing, and avoiding 75% of next spell does nothing either. Warriors will continue to be most-utilized tanks IMHO.
Guilds will likely have a warrior MT, and druid/paladin/dk for specific fights.
And another nice thing I read is this:
During his explanation of the DK abilities, Chilton said that Blizzard were aware of the fact that many players who tank like to feel they are still dealing some decent damage. In the past, Blizzard has balanced the game so that tanks don't cause much damage compared to the high DPS classes, but he said that Blizzard has realized that players need to feel their damage is a somewhat meaningful contribution, and they want players to feel they are actually dealing some decent damage whilst tanking in future.
I hope this won't only be true for DK's, but it may end up that way. I think warriors will do least damage during tanking (isn't that the way it is now?), but hopefully that will still be buffed.
