So I caved in and bought Wildstar at like 3 am today.
Decided to make an Exiled Human Stalker as my first character. Engineers were awesome, but I have seen a lot of stalker material too, and played some of them, and I really liked the idea of Stalker tanking. It is kinda similar to Monk/Druid tanking (very loosely similar), and those are my favourite characters to play in WoW.
Anyway... at the moment... my position in the server queue is fricking 1099 and the estimated wait time is over 3 hours. GG launch. (and that is with the premium version purchased.)
Oh well. By the way, my realm is Ascendancy EU. For now. Maybe I will make a character in a different realm if they open some more. I made it up to level 10 with my Stalker, which is not
too much
investment yet.
Also I am happy to see that the issues I had in the beta are all fixed (crafting quests were kinda broken, and also some scripted events got stuck and refused to finish up, thus stopping my progression through a particular questline).
wierd, I'm on the only RP server on NA and no queue. Guess no one wants to be on an RP server. I find they have less asshats on them.

The RP servers are the only servers on EU that are not full. The server I mentioned in my last post, Ascendancy EU, is just a normal PvE server, and it is full 24/7.
I did make a new character on an RP server just so I can play some more Wildstar. Granok Warrior this time around. The problem I have with RP servers is that I do not wish to participate in any sort of RP, and if I ever feel like saying something out of character in /say, some people might not like it.

If it's anything like WoW RP servers, it shouldn't matter; they are rarely in full server wide RP mode after all.

I play on an RP realm in wow, and in SWTOR as well, and I can assure you, many of the myths regarding RP realms are fake.
for one thing, you will never be forced to partake in RPs, so if you don't want any, just say so and you never will.
And for the other, server-wide RPs where you're not allowed to speak your mind or just regularly chat are very rare. RPs often take place in private channels like guild chat, party chat, and PMs, because it avoids strangers disrupting the action.
Lastly, RP servers still have regular player that never RP by the buckload. My server in wow (Steamwheedle Cartel) is linked to two more (Kirin Tor and Sentinels) and I have yet to stumble on any public RP session, or been berated for speaking about trivial matters on public channels.
The most trouble you can get is if you interrupt other people having a private RP session, or if you use a name that is........ too unconventional. I can assure you that having a toon named "Lovetosmooch" in an RP realm will have a high chance of being flagged for a rename.
On the upside, I have to agree with Skithus, RP realms tend to have a significantly lower amount of jerk players. I guess they avoid these realms to prevent being seen in public with the "nerds". Lulz.

Yeah I don't really RP anymore, Used to all throughout my time in Everquest, DAoC and my first year of WoW. I still like to hangout on RP servers when I can just because the people are nicer and more mature on average.

He everyone. How did you do over the weekend.
I rolled on Thunderfoot (best decision I ever made). I got to level 19.
BTW: Horrible memory leaks in Ilium. Had to re-start every couple of minutes.

If you're using the addon BijiPlates then that's likely what's causing your leaks. A /relaodui should reset it if that is the culprit.
I'm a Chua Medic called Shuya on Eko-EU and got to 33 over the weekend. Will be
carrying on this evening
, starting with Wilderrun. Launch was generally okay with a very few frustrations (name reservation issue because I changed my email address and Auth buff missing) but overall it's been very smooth. Once logged in it's all been very stable. I streamed for 18 hours on the first day without dropping at all.

No addons. Lots of people are having memory leak issues from the forums.
Anyway, I just avoid Ilium now, although I would like to visit my Rocket House from time to time :)

Illum is a mess. But you can recall to your house from anywhere, and it returns you to where you recalled from when you exit it. I made it to 16 so far, had a bunch of tabletop to prep/run

Illum is a mess.
Its almost like the name itself is cursed :P didn't SWTOR also had a zone named Illum that was also equally messy on launch?

Yeah it was their daily questing / world PvP hub and they quickly discovered that world PvP is a bad idea in a primarily PvE game.
In this game its the dominion capitol and is just super laggy. What's wierd is I don't see many other people in the zone, yet I wasn't having any lag in Illum during beta so I'm not sure what they did but its definitely fixable.

Thayd is pretty laggy too. I am using a somewhat older pc, and usually it runs fine with a short chop here and there on medium, but the moment I landed in Thayd it just lagged for like a solid half minute.
I got to level 17 with my Engineer so far. I also have a level 10 Stalker on a different realm, but that one is mostly full.
So, during the beta, it wouldn't let me to place Decor items in my house. Now it did. Holy #$%^ housing is
amazing
.
I have ginormous trees all over the place. A gigantic plank leads to the roof of my house, but is blocked by a huge Yeti plushie. I put the bed on the wall sideways, and am planning to fully furnish the ceiling of my house. I am having way too much fun with my house.

Yeah, housing is pretty amazing isn't it. It's not something I would ever want devs to put time into normally but having seen what they actually came up with, I'm really glad they did. I also like that there's a practical reason for me to use it to get rested XP buffs. Great implementation!

Spaceship house from pre-order was actually really cool. I don't expect it to, but it'd be cool if the alternative cockpit adds another interior room where the actual cockpit it.

Yeah, I realized that yesterday. I thought the portal thingy would take me to Ilium, but instead it ported me back to where I was.

Looks like last nights patch completely fixed all my lag issues in Illum, so that was fast.

Did a
full Skullcano run
last night if anyone wants to see the place (from a Medic Healer's perspective). None of us had seen anything past boss #2 due to bugs in beta so the wipe rate goes up after that but it is, at least, an honest representation of what it looks like when a group sees dungeon content for the first time at the appropriate level. Brutal but so much fun!

I did my first dungeon run the other day. Wiped twice on the trash (3 people quit). Wiped on the boss (I'd had enough because it didn't look like we could do it).
Wow. But I don't mind. This will keep people playing.

I have a question. Does wildstar has an LFG/Dungeon-finder tool of any form? or do you have to manually form groups, and physically all travel to the dungeon?
because recovering after half the group quits must be quite a chore if it doesn't. As would be actually finding a group if you're not a healer/tank.
On an unrelated note, and its not that I want to derail the thread, far be it from my intention, but why is it that the ultra-hard difficult nature of wildstar's dungeons has been met with so much rejoicing and acclaim, but the really hard 5mans of cataclysm were reviled so much?
I swear to God I don't understand the internet some days =/

Yes, It has an LFG tool. And if people quit, you just re-queue, like in WoW.
I think there is rejoicing that there is hard content in an MMO from the start. In WoW, we got used to easy content, then they threw hard content at us and it was a shock. And Wildstar dungeons are way tougher than Cata dungeons btw.
