WoW was the medium with which I met a great friend and eventually my fiance :)
I'd love one of those skyreavers >.<
Hello, few years ago as I was playing WoW I met a friend who I was playing with for a long time since then (arenas, bgs, lots of other things). At first we were behaving like normal "online gamers" but as the time flew we started to ask each other about the offline stuff. I am half Czech and half Polish ( I live in CzR), he was Polish so we finally realized we have a common language (we spoke English for quite a long time so imagine "dat facepalm" as we realized how stupid we were). And it turned out even better, because he lived in the same city as I have family in PL and he was one of best friends of my good polish friend from primary school! I could not believe such a coincidence was even possible :D. So we immediately wanted to meet each other and it worked! We had so much great time, if I was at home in CzR, we played together as much as possible, if I was in PL we played AND met as much as possible. Sadly we both moved on now, he stopped playing WoW, but at least we try to keep a simple contact if I am abroad. Sorry for confusing story, but without some details it would not sound ridiculously enough. And as you can see English is not my native so I apologize in advance for any mistakes. Although it can not compete with the "I met my wife" kind of story, but for me it was extremely funny, suddenly how small this world can be.Cool idea with the giveaway!GL
When I first started in wow I joined a guild through a helpful warcraft person whom no longer plays, and met a really great friend who is always helpful, not just in game but lends an ear when I need to talk about stuff and of course I do the same. Even after everyone left the original guild and I created my own, because I don't like being told what to do and how to do it, we remained great friends. We like doing crazy stuff together in game and neither of us is afraid of dying, we'll try anything once or several times because we don't like giving up, and we're both avid mount and pet collectors. If there's a mount or pet involved "We're In!". It's because of my great friend that I still play World of Warcraft, because early on with stuff that was going on in the guild and other people with their "requirements" like you must be a certain ilvl and have certain xp regardless of whether or not you can do something just to be included in a group, almost had me quit the game. And now that I have my own guild and do my own thing, I have a lot of fun playing warcraft, and it's all thanks to my friend. I would love to oneday meet my friend for real, but living in different states and me not being in the best of health and out of work for the past 18 months makes it difficult to travel. Maybe oneday. In the meantime I just enjoy doing crazy things with my friend ingame.
I met my wife through WoW XD We met out side Eye of Eternity. I was a tank; tauren warrior and it was her first time playing the game. I was waiting outside for more people to arrive since it was a PvP server and people sometimes get ganked right outside the raid. So she arrives, and she sees this huge tauren sitting right there, with this big blue shield and she had to run to the bathroom for a bit, so she whispers me and asks me to watch her toon while she pops off to the toilet for a second. Meanwhile, the raid leader was telling people to get in because we were proceeding soon, so i dropped her a quick whisper to tell her to move her ass and get inside. XPLuckily, she didn't get ganked, and the raid went smoothly.. and it turned out that several of her guildies were also in the raid. Long story short, we're now happily married for 2 years and still going strong. We've switched classes and servers since then, but are still enjoying our journey together both in-game and IRL. ;)
I was farming warbringers and i met this warrior his name was armgrinder and i asked him if we could farm together and he said yes so we farmed together so we added eachother on friends and we eventualy started raiding together and started derping around together and we eventualy became best friends :D
Some say that becoming friends through the internet is stupid, hopefull and frowned upon. I beg to differ. It doesn't matter WHERE you meet someone, it all comes down to how you handle that.I understand the reasons it's looked down on however; the human nature, is to be greedy and superior. Hence all that anonomysity provides the online community a safe passage to be, in one word, !@#$%^&s. That is the main reason so many believe that friendships in WoW don't count. However, we made the difference. Me and the fellow adventurers I met through the years. We've been together for over 4 years now, changed guilds, made our own, went to new worlds together. How often was it that I was wounded and my priest tended to my wounds? Or how many times was it that an ambush by the opposing faction ended with them having no pants due to my friends timely arrival? We don't just hit on the game though; we've spent countless hours kinding our friendship, making sure this little spark wouldn't go out, but instead grow. Not only we matured as gamers together, but we also built a strong relationship, where we are careful of it, honor it, never forsake it. When one of has a problem, even though we can't provide our physical support, we make it our goal to ensure we can throw out as much as possible, in order for him to get back onto his feet. Some say that becoming friends through the internet is stupid, hopefull and frowned upon. I beg to differ. I have gained friendship through WoW. What is your excuse?
CAN'T TAKE ME IRL BRO I LIFT.I would kill to see that.
Havent met anyone special yet. Still waiting:)
I actually met a close friend of mine years ago by chance while sitting around in Org waiting for a pug for ICC to start. She was recruiting people for a new guild, and I needed one, so I decided to at least give it a try. Over time I found out she was actually incredibly frail, suffering from a laundry list of chronic health problems and repercussions of old injuries. WoW was like therapy for her, and having a friend on during the same hours she played vastly improved it for her. About three years ago she nearly died from a sudden illness they initially though was leukemia, and I was one of three people she knew who didn't immediately cut ties with her and wait for her to die. She's still here, and still plays with us to this day. We did get to meet once for the 2011 Blizzcon, but sadly she lives across the country, and we've never been able to arrange a meeting since. I don't even care what the circumstances are, I just want to see her again.
I do have to say that wow has allowed me to meet some very cool people that I would otherwise never have known in my life. A lot of the people I play wow with are miles and miles away across many state lines. I feel that these people would be the kind that I would hang out with if they lived closer.
This post was from a user who has deleted their account.

I met a cool girl once while I was leveling, we leveled together a dozen levels or so perhaps more.
I've been playing WoW for a really long time with my husband. For the first two expansions we focused on PvP, but when Wrath of the Lich King came out we joined a guild for the first time to raid. We filled out the application to join and talked with the guild officers during trial runs to see if we were a good fit for the guild. It became a very successful guild as the expansion went on and every week was a lot of fun. They were the kind of people you couldn't wait to get online and chat with. I have loads of stories of hilarious moments in raids with this group. Sure we wiped pretty much every time someone was being a goof, but it was worth it. Once in Ulduar our tank had too much to drink and would rush a boss before everyone was ready. Our off tank was getting so frustrated that he tried to beat him to the next boss and instantly he was dead. In the confusion we didn't know what happened to him. He couldn't have been one shot like that. "Someone battle rez him!" exclaimed our guild master. Our druid healer was trying but nothing was happening. After a minute we heard our off-tank on vent,"You won't be able to battle rez me," he said, sounding sheepish, "my body is too far away." "Why?" we all asked. "I was trying to get to the boss first and accidentally ran off the cliff." Since then we have met several of those guild members and still keep in touch with them in real life. Awesome people. Even though many of them don't play WoW anymore we still stick together, especially when it comes to gaming.
I met a couple through WoW a few years back and have since met up with them in real life. Despite the fair amount of distance (200+ miles), it was nice to put faces to the voices and avatars.
A few years ago, I met a guy with the most enchanting voice I had ever heard. I was pugged into a Lich King raid with his guild, and was directed onto their voice chat server where I first heard him speak. When he did, I was so stunned, I couldn't focus on the special tactics being explained. His voice was so very deep, dreamy, manly... I had to find out which character was speaking! When I did, I started to keep an eye on him and be funny on voice chat whenever he spoke. Later, it turned out he did the same with me, because he was enchanted by my voice as well. We had a hilarious raid that night and entertained all the others, while actually flirting and being interested in nothing but each other. After the raid, we started talking in chat... and we never stopped. I got my own little voice chat server so we could talk privately, and as the days passed, we started to fall in love.He turned out to be in a difficult situation in real life, and I helped him pull through it all. I had been in a long and agonizing depression for a long time as well, and I felt he was saving my life. When things started to get better in both our lifes, we decided to meet up. Him living in the UK and me in The Netherlands, that wasn't a huge trip, but not a cheap one either. We booked a weekend in London, to see if we would click in real life the same way as we did ingame. ...We had the best weekend of our lives. It ended way too fast, and when I got on the plane, I started crying until I wept myself to sleep, hours later, in my cold and empty bed at home. He did the same. The months that followed were amazing and hard at the same time. We were so much in love, we missed each other endlessly, and spent a great deal of time and money to keep talking and seeing each other. It was almost too good to be real. Even the employees of the hotel we always booked were looking forward to seeing the "Dream Couple" again....And then, life happened. In just a few months, everything changed. I had never had a long lasting relationship before, and again this time, I started having doubts. When we had our final good week together, I confessed my doubts, and that was it. We never were the same again. I broke his soul, and my heart turned black in doing so.While trying to overcome our difficulties as a couple, he came to deal with a number of horrifying events in his life, the kinds of things you wouldn't want your worst enemy to deal with. He lost almost everything and everyone that was dear to him due to illness and hatred, and I didn't know how to deal with his extremely difficult life. For months, we struggled trying to salvage the remains of what we had. In that time, he fell ill and had to go through a long period of operations, chemo therapy and lots and lots of emotional distress. He lost the voice that first caught my attention, and would never be able to speak normally again. I lost the power to be the support he needed, and to love him back the way he loved me. Because he couldn't speak, we were forced to communicate in text, which caused a lot of misunderstanding and miscommunications... So we grew apart even more. When he overcame his illness and was no longer influenced by the extreme emotional effects of his meds, there was no reason left for me to be there for him and keep breaking his heart by turning his love down... So we said our goodbyes. He gave up his WoW account and I fell into a deep depression that cost me my job. Now, a few months later, it's still so very hard. I am reminded every single day, of how I screwed up my last love. I still miss him, because to me, he is and forever will be my very best friend. But I cannot be in his life without hurting him and reminding him we cannot be that couple again. And so we exist in silence... But when the dust settles, I trust we will forever be bonded as friends for life.
I've met a few years ago on the french official forums the community on the off-topic forum. I've been in contact with them ever since, and we shared a lot of stuff together, through IRL meetings or online discussions.Since the official forums closed their off-topic forums, we decided to create our own website to share everything we used to share on the official forums. I'm also still in touch with people from my old bc/wrath guild.I've met extraordinary people, I've even created, with a lot of help from a friend I met on the official forums, Warcraft III maps called "HS Vs Timer", "HS Vs Général" and "HS Vs JdR" ( Translation : HS = Hors-Sujet = Off-topic in english. Général is obviously referencing the general forums, and JdR means "Jeu de Rôle" which translate into "Roleplay", referencing the Roleplay forums. ).
