when i first started playing, which was in early BC, i was to put it blunt really crud at the game, after trying many classes and races i settled on a gnome warlock, i did not know anyone and for the first 15 levels i just did stuff on my own, but one day i got a whisper from someone who needed help with a quest and as luck would have it i was on the same one, it was red to me and orange to them so i was a bit hesitant to do it, but they seemed eager and nice so we joined a party and went ahead,we had to clear out a lot of non quest mobs to get to the big guy we needed, i believe it was a gnoll or trogg or something,we had some close calls with tightly packed groups of them, and they were a good 3-4 levels above us, but we finally got to the guy we needed, it was a hard fight, and the person i was partied with died when it was down to 25 percent, i summoned my voidwalker quickly and started running back while still dpsing it, when it finally died they were so happy just to get it down that we ended up staying together for a few more quests, once we had done most of ones we could, we went our seperate ways but they had added me to their friends list and for the next few days, we would quest together for a bit every day, and even ended up doing a dungeon together when we were around the 35 range, at that point they invited me to their guild, and there i made even more friends, some i still know to this day, sadly the original friend does not play anymore, and we lost contact, but i really think that first friendship is the one that really made me start enjoying the social aspects of the game and go on to form even more friendships and even relationships.
Recently, after a money-forced 6 month break from WoW, I came to the game to find that my guild had transferred servers. I spent a week or two without a guild, fearing the social awkwardness of finding a new one. Realizing that I couldn't live without 15 minute hearthstone CD, I finally decided to find a new guild. And I did! I joined the guild who's trade chat advert sounded most sincere. The person who invited me and I quickly became good friends, finding in each other intellectual equals and a shared worldview. Four months since coming back, I've become an officer in the guild, and have a new friend on Facebook for my trouble :)People talk about WoW having a horrible community, but that belief is based off the WoW forums and Trade chat, where the loudest people drown out the rest. The WoW community is full of wonderful people, you just have to talk to individuals, and not read the rantings of the mob.
I met a family of gamers back in WotLK; we've been friends for years. We exchange holiday gifts and pictures regularly, as well as exchanging game and movie recommendations. ;D While I'd love to actually meet them in real life, we live several states away, so that's not really feasible sadly...Anywho! They consider me family, and I think the same of them.-Also met a retired Navy Chief online. He played an undead rogue and role-played as a pirate. We actually met in life a few times, he's a really cool guy. Lost touch with him near the beginning of Cata, he had to quit playing because his new job was too time consuming.
still have contact to members in the old guild and we want to meet up at the Gamescom this Year, hopefully this girl in particular would show up, she is a stunnig player who never disappoint me.
I've met a few people through WoW that I've caught up with irl for a drink or eight. I still catch up with them. This reminds me I need to catch up with one guy who I haven't seen for a wee while D:
A majority of my friends are people I have met in World of Warcraft. I decided to try out an RP realm, so I made a new character and leveled a bit, at around level 10, I met a RPer, who helped me figure it all out. Eventually they took me to Goldshire (On this realm it was more of a hangout, not the chaotic mess one finds in Moonguard), where I met a small group of fun people to hang out with. Over time some of them turned out to be incompatible with my way of doing things, and others became really good friends. This has been ongoing for about 2 or 3 years now, and most of them still play WoW and we hang out regularly.
A few weeks ago someone from my guild accidentally talked to me becouse he thought i was someone else. Then it seemed he was from the same country and now we do much funny things together like farming stuff.
This post was from a user who has deleted their account.
There are a few ppl I would love to meet that I have met playing WoW.
I met my love of my life in WoW. We played over a year together without much conversation but then we got to know each other better. After a while we decided to meet in real life and three months later we moved in together. Since then we are living and playing all together in both worlds :)
Long time back I've met my best friend on World of Warcraft patch 1.6 :-D We are still playing now and still best friends forever :-) We share the same job and looking forward every time we spending in game together. See you in game brother.
Got a great friend from WoW who I hope to meet in person some day!
Back in the beginning of Wrath I had just transferred servers and was looking for a guild. A joined a raiding guild and started to down content. 7 years later I'm best friends with the guy and we haven't stopped having fun.
I joined a guild a guild 5 years ago with a great guild master and so many fun friendly people well 5 years on and so many friends have left, but my great guild master and a number are still there we have a great time. It's in that very guild I met my best friend and we've been having a awesome time chatting, joking and of course teasing each other ever since and it's all thanks to WoW I got to know these great people! =)
A really fun DPS who played a dungeon with, added as real id friend, and talking became more than just about World of Warcraft ;)
i meet my best friend in the beginning of TBC, we started raiding together, and we discovered that we were living really far away around 4hours away. We had the same interests and quick began talking more and more, and when the guild got killed, we joined two different guild but we ended in the same guild and got a full hc clear before long, we spilt up again until we made a guild together where we have been ever since.
Interesting idea, but the only people I play with I talk to out of game too
Back in Cata when we could start farming the legendaries. It was my second time doing Molton Core. I was running in Black Rock to the dungeon, but seen a Shammy and a DeathKnight. I asked then what they are doing, they said Molten Core. I asked if I could come, I was after the Eye of Sulfurs, but so was the Shammy. We went in, killed everything up to Ragnaros. When we killed him, the Eye dropped. I got a 6 and he got a 87. I was so down. The hammer is my favorite weapon in the game since Vanilla. He knew I was down, so he kept running it with me trying to get it for me. Soon got down bindings of the wind seeker. I got the sword, but after that he stopped running it with me because I had the armor to solo it. Still to date I'm still farming the sucker. He always tells me, you'll never get it! Muhahahaha! :P so I link him my Warglavies of Azzinoth and Hammer from Ulduar. :P then he links Sulfurs and Firelands staff. Ahh. Hahaha. He's been my friend ever since then. Now we VS each other doing mounts and who has more and rarest. I am always in the lead because of rare mounts and the achievements. He is still my best friend. Athurnz my good buddy. ~Killerstorm-Greymane.
A couple of years ago, I was camping Arcturis on my Undead Hunter for weeks. I admit to not being a successful camper because I would log in for half an hour at random and then log out again when I got bored. There was this Night Elf Hunter who was camping too. Usually in such situations there would be hostilities - attacks if PvP were enabled, and spitting and rude gestures if it wasn't. But this guy didn't initiate anything. Instead he just sat down and ignored me the first few times, and after that started waving when I arrived. We soon started communicating through emotes and before too long the Night Elf made a Horde character and we played together. He's a pretty good friend now. And we did both manage to get Arcturis in the end, too.
Something like 3 years ago, when I was in guild half made by people I knew from school, a guildie not from the same city as the mentioned half visited us. I and she became kind of remote friends, that one you moan on (virtual) shoulder when stuff goes bad, or cheer with joy when it goes well.
