It sounds like what you want is a lot of Cataclysm all over again.
Because that all went so well last time.

I disagree, the story needs to progress and the best way to do that is with expansions.
What you are describing is the x.1, x.2 etc patches, which serve their purpose.
No reason why you cant progress the "story" without increasing the level cap. Never said anything against expansions not sure where that came from
Then you would have a lot of wasted content because many players simply would not do the quests involved in advancing the story if they were not forced to via a leveling process. Despite that I know quite a few people who level via dungeons anyway and never see the majority of the quests.
I also think just starting off at 90 would leave a lot of people feeling flat, There is a psychological aspect at play too, and leveling fixes that by giving a sense of achievement.
On a more personal note, I like the feeling that my character is growing by leveling.

I'm pretty sure your forgetting a large category of people here. The people who enjoy leveling up. I know I wouldn't like if they only put emphasis on end game content. Then I wouldn't be able to enjoy exploring new areas as I level up.

in my opinion Wow would have been a much better game if they didn't increase the level cap
I agree,
but
I think 100 levels is a nice, even, round number that I can get behind. Maybe for the expac after WoD they can just make it so that there are no further level cap increases, just additional abilities, races and/or classes.
Of course, then we have people whining, "what? I paid 40 bucks and 0 level increases? gg,wow is dead now"

I just think that the focus on increasing the level cap has had negative effects like leaving old content in the dust, and that the game would be better off just keeping it where it was, at level 60 or 70.Because that's where it belongs; it's old content, it's not current, and unless someone wants to run it, it should not be considered to be part of the current end game. I know I'd go insane if I was forced to run Vanilla, BC, Wrath and Cata content now when I just want to run MoP things.
also while where talking about leveling, what they have basically done is speed up the leveling process. What i think would be better than that is to instead of making it faster, make it more interesting. Reaching the level cap should be the culmination of your hard work, and it should feel very rewarding. also it should be a major part of the game, not just a part you can bypass almost 100% by giving you a free boost to lvl 90There is no hard work; leveling has always been tedious, and except for maybe 15 quests back in Vanilla, which were the 'raid' quests, most of them gave squat. Even now, you do the questing once to see the story progress, then after that point you just want to blow through it because you've been there done that and don't want to collect another 10 bear asses on your 11th character. The thing is, most people consider the meat and potatoes of the game to be the end game content; to a large number, leveling is spinach and brussel sprouts, something that needs to be forced down so you can clean your plate to get to the good food.
As for the free 90: People want to play with their friends. Why in the name of the Naaru should a brand new player, who has decided to join Azeroth as the guys at work went on and on about the new fun in Draenor, have to go back to the starting zone and play for, depending on the time they have, several days to week to catch up to the friends to play with them? They shouldn't; I'm looking forward to this, as it might actually give me the incentive to get a Paladin or a Rogue to cap, as those are my two least favorite classes.

why do you assume you have to run through everything in a linear fashion? There is room for inovation there are more ways to do it if you get people in a room for 1 hour and have them brainstorm ideas.
also they brougth back naxramas for wrath didn't they? They brought back Naxx because only about 5% of the gaming population saw it in Vanilla...and those 5% were very very very vocal over it, feeling that it didn't make them special little snowflakes anymore. Also, not all ideas are good ones...such as your suggestion here, which completely trivializes the game anyways.
disagree completly and utterly, leveling was a very enjoyable experience for me when it was novel which is the argument for not forcing people to do the same areas if they want to level, rather have a variety of places to go by giving the areas to lower levels when expansions come outNo. Look at what happened with the Cata revamp; 1-60 changed completely and people $%^&*ed and moaned about it. Leveling can be an enjoyable experience...but not when you do the same thing 50 times in a row, which is what a lot of early questing is.
because its a major part of the game? because they have to learn how to play somehow? And if you read anything at all about the free level 90, you'd realize that they are planning a similar situation to the DK starting zone, where you will learn your class abilities as you go to prepare to head to Draenor. There is no need to go through the 1-90 zones again. And if someone wants to, they can always travel back and do the questing.
