Don't spend all your gold for weapons/armor, most of the time it isnt worth it.
Dont Beg, That just belittles you and makes people hate you, in turn makes you quit the game.
Have fun, thats the point of the game, try not to turn it into a job.

Travel
. There isn't s strict sequence of zones that you must follow. Some people feel you should enter a zone, do every quest there and then move to a harder zone. Don't fall for it. If you do this then every quest will be just hard enough to be slightly frustrating as you level. Feel free to move around the world.
I usually work on two zones at the same time -- I do the beginning quests in one zone, then move on and do the beginning quests in another around the same level. Then I go back and finish up in the first zone before wrapping up the second. It's amazing how a yellow quest can be frustrating at 18, a grind at 19, and a breeze at 20 -- and that quest will give the same XP at each level.
Research
. You already have a jump on this since you are reading these forums! But seriously, about 5% to 10% of your WoW time should be spent out-of-game reading about Warcraft. Read
Wowinsider
. Read blogs about your
class
.
So, you've killed
Dar'Khan
and can't figure out where to go? Wowhead can help! Go to Browse > Zones >
Eastern Kingdoms
. Open a new tab in your browser and go to Browse > Zones >
Kalimdor
. Here's the trick: you can click on the
Level
heading and sort them by level -- you can now see exactly all the places appropriate for a new 20! Pick a few, click through and read up on em. For example, maybe the Wetlands sounds interesting. But, if you click through and look at the
quests
you'll see that all the quests are Alliance, even though it is officially listed as a 'contested' territory. So don't go there! It'll be a waste of time.
Learn how to take advantage of the immense research resources the WoW community has. You will level faster, get better gear, have more fun, and will be able to use your extra time to just goof off. Or level fishing!
Don't be scared of PvP.
You don't know your class until you've had to fight and kill another player. You can get away with using 25% of your skill when you fight easy mobs (and, if you follow my advice, you should
only
be fighting easy mobs as you level up). Learn the other 75% of your skill in a few Battlegrounds as you level up. Plus, you'll need those
Arathi Basin tokens
for PvP gear when you hit 70 (or 80)! You will die. A lot. Don't stress about it. You don't learn if everything is easy.
And when you get enough honor, your first purchase should be an
Insignia of the Horde
(or whatever the Alliance equivalent would be). Once you get it, put it on an actionbar. Hot-key it so it's easily accessible. It will make your life so much easier. Trust me.

Don't ever go to the official board's class subfora:
Just about everyone over there is a whining loser. They will demotivate you and make you think bad of your class. In fact, you should go to youtube and search for <class> 70 to get a bit fired up about pretty actions you see.
Stick to one character:
It's fine to reroll. As long as you reroll permanently and stick to your new class. If you catch yourself playing on more than two characters a day, you aren't sticking to a specific character. And that costs you so much playing time.

Some people might have already pointed out these, but ohwell.
1. When leveling, try jumping around to all the places in your level range. Like with a new character, go to all the beginning areas and do all the quests. Surprisingly this can get you up levels quick without causing you to grind endlessly, and it also helps you get reputation with other factions alot quicker.
2. Don't worry about getting 'Blues' too much at lower levels, you will out level them quicker then you think. If you buy them from the Auction House then it could be a waste of your gold. Don't worry about getting 'Epic' items until you are at least 70.
3. Find a perfession that you enjoy and stick with it. I personally went with Leatherworking/Skinning on my Hunter and its a great gold maker. Also if you plan on getting an epic flight mount at 70, then save from day 1. I basically pinched every penny alongside my Skinning profession and was able to skip the normal flight mount, and go right to the epic one as soon as I reached 70.
Of course the Epic flight mounts are optional, you don't NEED them. They were basically put into the game as another goal for players who have reached end game. Happy playing. :]

LF_=Looking for _____ (Guild is the one i see the most, LFG)
I never see LFG = Looking For Guild. It's almost ALWAYS used to mean "Looking For Group", usually for an instance, but sometimes for a group quest outside of an instance. If someone is looking for a guild, they'll usually say "LF guild".
LFM will mean "Looking For More" if a group already has some members and is trying to fill out their group. They will sometimes specify how many more they need, and what role needs to be filled. "LF2M for (instance), need tank."
Tank: The one who holds threat for the group, so the enemies don't kill the squishier members. A warrior or paladin using a shield, or a druid in bear form. Don't tank without a shield, so if you're a class that can use one, try to keep one in your bank in case you're asked to tank. Having talents for tanking is a plus, but not necessary at lower levels.
Healer: Someone with healing spells to keep the rest of the group alive. Does NOT need to be specced for healing until you start getting to Outland stuff. Any priest, paladin, druid, or shaman with intellect on their gear will usually perform just fine.
DPS: Damage-dealers. All classes have DPS specs, and this role can be filled by pretty much anyone. Most beginning players will be DPS.
CC: A special category of DPS, those who can use "crowd-control" abilities. These abilities will stop a single enemy so that the party does not have to fight an entire group of enemies at the same time. These include a mage's
Polymorph
, a rogue's
Sap
, and a hunter's
Freezing Trap
. Most CC abilities are restricted to a certain type of enemy.
For a list of instances and the abbreviations usually used for them, see
this page
at WoWWiki. I found it to be a quite helpful reference before I memorized all of them.
