Everdark Invaders
The Kingdom of Frost
The goliath pressed on, seemingly undisturbed by the rapid temperature drop. The condensing steam turned to a spray of tiny ice crystals, but otherwise nothing changed. Behind it, another war machine just like the first one appeared from the shadows.

Maon rushed forward and rammed the Frost Blade into the behemoth's right leg joint.

The Kingdom of Frost
The armour plates on the walker did their job pretty well. Nothing vital was hit, but some externally mounted hoses were cut. A scalding stream of superheated steam shot out, accompanied by a spray of thick, warm lubricant. Prince Maon was lucky that the priceless blade didn't get stuck in the joint, because he would then have lost it for sure. Continuing its lumbering walk, it released another deafening horn blast before it reached the rim of the crater and took a victorious step over it.

"Icicles!" Maon cursed, stumbling away, "Dramon!" he then yelled.
Swooping over the mountains, came what once might have been a blue dragon. Now Dramon was only a pet; albeit a pet with the strength of a full grown dragon. Dramon landed on the walker, tearing at it and unleashing terrible icy fire upon the invaders.

Everdark Invaders
The Kingdom of Frost
The additional weight of the beast made the war machine slow down considerably, but now that it was out of the choke point it mattered little. The path was apparently already set out, because the walker behind it just emerged from the pit and pressed on in the same direction.
The back plates did not immediately take damage from the attack, but it was evident something happened. The smoke streaming out from the exhaust pipes began flowing faster and grew darker; more steam sprayed from the moving joints. The engine sounds became intenser and more angry, and soon the armour started glowing a dull red.
However, this was a construct from a land of subterranean heat and extreme pressure. It advanced at no more than a walking pace, but the gait was unyielding.

Suddenly, Dramon leapt off of the first machine and rammed into the second. It rose up into the air, teetering on its back legs, threatening to fall back into the abyss from whence it came.

((That is totally godmode.))
Everdark Invaders
The Kingdom of Frost
Due to the enormous weight of the infernal machine and the inherent stability of four legs and a low center of mass, the ramming had little effect. The first walker - now lighter than before but still working at higher engine pressures - jerked forward, trotting away with a sudden burst of speed. Meanwhile, at least three more bringers of destruction emerged from the underground and headed for the surface.

"Impossible!" gasped Prince Maon, "Dramon!" the dragon-beast left the juggernauts and landed beside its master, letting the Prince of Frost mount him. The dragon then lifted into the air and flew off.

The Kingdom of Frost
With the "threat" not in the extreme proximity, the tactics shifted. The first of the walkers stopped sluggishly, and to a series of horrible grinding and screeching sounds the aftmost plates slid forward, revealing a large barrel on a swivelling mount which was raised and rotated to a similar cacophony. Without particularly careful aiming a projectile was unleashed with an eardrum-shattering bang and a muzzle-flash worthy of the weapon's scale.
The other machines proceeded to form a spacious single file, advancing towards a pass between two of the largest mountains.

Dramon landed on Mount Neverest, the highest point in all of the Frost Kingdom; perhaps in all of Awe. Perched on top of the mountain was a gigantic horn of ice. The Frost Horn could be heard in all corners of the Frost Kingdom; and it was the alarm for invaders. Without a moment's hesitation, Maon blew the Horn and remounted upon Dramon and flew towards the castle; the booming sounds of the Frost Horn echoing throughout the kingdom just as the first projectiles were fired from the Everdark.

The Prince twisted his head to give the other royal a surprised look. "You're right! Which means..." He turned back towards the door. "Any damage will not be my responsibility to clean up."

"Yes!" The Prince held up a fist in conviction. "By heightening the atmospheric pressure in this room compared to that of the hall outside, I shall suck the very door from its hinges!"

"But why escape?" said Francis, "If we escape it just makes us look guilty, unless one of us actually is guilty," for such a strange creature, Francis' words were rather wise.

"And what makes you think our captors care? We were captured on random to begin with." The prince of shadows replied lazily.
Vilenteri turned into a shadowy mist* and sliped thrugh the metal bars and then returned into his original form and pulled out his twohander into a firm grip in his hands. "Shall we play a game of kill counts?" He said with a malevolent grin.

"What? Of course not. I'm not here to kill people. As a matter of fact, I'm not supposed to be here at all. I just crashed here. Besides," the Prince distantly added with a wave of his hand, "plant people are about as interesting as watching grass grow. They aren't worth the energy blasting. Unless they get too tall," he growled, his fists suddenly crackling with electricity.

"I'll try not to take offence to that, Sire," said Francis sourly, petals turning from yellow to red with indignation. She turned to face the Shadow Prince, "You are abhorrent."
