#367: What is the strangest thing you've eaten?
So, back to food. Today's question is about the most unusual, strange, weird, or exotic thing you've ever eaten. Stuff you don't just eat regularly, stuff that some wouldn't even qualify as edible in the first place.
In my case........ its insects :P
As a Chef I need to be as much of an multidisciplinary cook as I can be and there is a large section of gastronomy dedicated to the cooking and consumption of insects, specially among the native american aborigenous tribes of venezuela. So on one chef conference with a Chef from Yanomami descent, we learned several cooking techniques involving the preparation of different insects and while I was hesitant to try them, they're surprisingly tasty.
Tarantula croquettes, Worm Muffins, Sauteed crickets, and many more. Tarantula meat in particular was quite tasty, if you can get past where it came from.
=/ My wife made me brush my teeth 50 times before she let me kiss her again once I came back from that conference. T_T

I think the 2 that most would think as unusual were while my dad was stationed in the Philippines.
The first was during a swim meet we ate dog, which our Filipino coaches did not tell us until we had already eaten it.
The second was monitor lizard.

#368: Which popular thing/game/tv-show/whatever you DON'T like?
Thanks to Azazel for this question.
For me, I'll mention 3.
The Witcher 2 is immensely popular, all I keep hearing is people nerdgasming over it like its the second coming, like its the most revolutionary RPG ever created in the history of gaming, and many many more accolades. But after FINALLY getting my hands on it, I really don't see what all the fuss is about. I'm done with the chapter 1 of the game, that's a full 1/3 of it, and the plot is still boring me to tears. I just don't feel drawn or connected to either the plot or the characters.
They praise the story for being more "Adult and mature" but all I see of the "Adult and Mature" is nudity and swearing. Other than that, I don't really see much difference between this game and other medieval fantasy ones. If that's all it takes to make a game "Adult and Mature" then God of War must be one hell of an adult game. Plus I really REALLY hate the combat system here. And its not due to its difficulty, its due to the clunky controls, and the HORRIBLE targeting system. Plus while this game looks eye-poppingly good if you have a machine that can handle it at max settings, if you play it on minimal settings it looks hideous, like everyone and everything is made out of cardboard. To me, a good graphical engine is one that looks stunning at max settings, yet still looks decent enough at minimal ones. Take Hitman Absolution for example, a real gem at max settings, and it still looks damned good at minimal ones too.
I'm not saying Witcher 2 is a bad game, not at all, it has a lot of merits, but I've played far better RPGs out there that have drawn me in far more, and have entertained me far more than this one. As it is I've had to force myself to play it simply because I wanna see WHEN is the plot gonna stop being a snooze-fest, asuming that ever happens. Whereas with other RPGs such as Skyrim, or Dragon Age 1, or Dragon Quest VIII, it was the exact opposite, I had to force myself TO STOP playing, to do other stuff such as eating, or sleeping.
So yeah, I don't see what all the fuss is about.
Second popular thing that I've never liked is
Reggaeton
. Its a mind-dumblingly popular "music" genre here in latin america, so ridiculously popular that 9 out of 10 songs you hear on the radio, or parties, or anywhere, is Reggaeton. OJO I'm not talking about Reaggie, the music genre of Bob Marley, I'm talking about Reggaeton.
It features vulgar lyrics that encourage girls to be sluts, encourage boys to be nothing more than skirt-chasers and TREAT women like sluts, discourages positive messages like love, or romance, and instead the "take it all and leave nothing behind" approach. The rhythm is repetitive as hell. Take any reaggeton singer, really, anyone, strip away the lyrics, and the music of their songs is all copy&pasted from one another. I could go on for hours, but the point is, In latin america, I am one of the very few among my generation that actually dislikes this musical excrement with a passion that can't properly be put into words.
Third popular thing I just don't like is: Reality TV.
Really, a show where the audience is led to believe that nothing is scripted, and thus is "Realistic". But really its all scripted, and they just dont' bother doing any decent writing, they just toss at you the first thing to pop into their heads and call that "Art".

Doctor Who: I've watched very little of it and I don't like the idea very much, plus I find British humor unfunny in general. I don't know why this fanbase is as big as it is.
Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy: Again, haven't touched these much, but running around as an anime character with Goofy, Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck? Why? It looks childish but the majority of the fanbase seems to be somewhat old.

First thing i can think of in the morning is grumpy cat. God, I hate that thing. I guess it's not fair to hate the cat itself, when it's the owner and everyone else milking it for its popularity, but still. Whenever people bring it up (the same kind of people that say "EHL OH EHL FAIL or HA I JUST TROLLED YOU url) my blood just boils.

Halo, any of the flavour of the month tv shows/music/books(such as 50 Shades of Gray). Beyond that, just don't notice enough to actively dislike it.

I honestly can't think of anything I dislike for those topics.
The only thing that I hate are game companies splitting communities for the sake of making profits.
Eg. Call of Duty, you need DLC to play with these people, more dlc to play with those people, and the other DLC to play with your friends
BF3 - You need premium to play on those servers, DLC to play on that server, the other DLC and premium to play on the other server.
I know it's todays standards of having DLC coming out your ears, but it still annoys me. Back about 7 years ago in the good old call of duty 2 and MW1 days, everyone could play on any server with no restrictions, everyone had the same maps, new maps were FREE and regularly updated and Mod tools were released really early on the release for awesome mods and amazing maps.
and to top it off, the community back then was amazing. Everyone knew everyone, you would go to all the popular servers and always see a few guys you know, everyone had fun.
Unlike now where everyone is a random, you dont know them, everyone curses at each other, ignores and moves on. There is no more community in todays average games.

Doctor Who. I hate that show.
Also, Game of Thrones, though that's mostly 'cause of the fanbase. The vast majority have never read the books and then sit there and speculate about what will happen next. Hmm, I wonder...
