Because that's how humans are.

A number of reasons. Are you looking for an easy answer? Because there isn't one.

Because humans are, at their very core, hard wired for insanity.

I know theres no easy answer.
But is there good reason go to war?It depends on perspective.
There are religious reasons to go to war, if you believe them (e.g. Jihad). There are resource-based reasons to go to war (e.g. you don't have enough food/water/power to sustain all your people). There are moral reasons to go to war (e.g. to protect those who can't protect themselves). Et cetera.
Whether you agree with those reasons or not, it's the people who do agree with those reasons who make it happen. The distance from those people to the actually killing makes it all the easier. If they had to actually go kill with their own hands, they might have a different perspective on what are good reasons and what aren't.
If you want a really comprehensive answer,
there is literature for that

Yes. If we hadn't gone to war in the 1940's, a lot of people would have died and never been avenged....of course, if a certain prisoner had never been given back to his country at the end of 1918 well...

From what we must defend?

I just refer you back up to this comment:Because humans are, at their very core, hard wired for insanity.

Because for someone to have more, someone must have less. Because for there to be good, there must also be evil. It's just how it goes. People have always killed each other, and they always will.

Insanity... Insanity...Yup, about the only other creatures on the planet that 'joyfully' wipe each out at the same rate that humans do are the hive mind insects.

And why do they have weapons?
Oh theres lots of resources which we havent found.
Insanity... Insanity...
Edit: Energy doesn't vanish it just changes its form. It's not insane people who start wars (usually), so you can't blame insanity.
Humans didn't evolve to be as populous as we are, so we have problems adjusting.
Theres plenty of resources on earth. But it's not even distributed, so some people have more, and some have less. Those who have less are inclined to fight those who have more. A poor man with a starving daughter will do anything to get her food.
Where do we need weapons?Because people who want what we have have weapons, and we don't want them to be able to take what we have.
Edit: Energy doesn't vanish it just changes its form. That doesn't matter. It changes form into forms we can't use, like heat. Heat that escapes into our atmosphere is no longer usable. The whole universe is doomed to eventually disperse into a wide, cold expanse in which matter has evaporated back into energy, and that energy evenly disperses across ever-expanding space.

I don't usually answer to questions like that but it depends of the age of the fetus. Also If abortion is necessary (fetus couses harm to its "owner" (don't know the real term)) then its ok.
I will narrow it down for you.
EXCLUDING
issues where the child is determined to be a threat to the Mothers health, and excluding cases of incest and rape.....what is your stance on abortion? I will concede those circumstances, even if I do not agree on them, I can at least accept why they should be excluded from the general abortion argument.
My point, which should be obvious, is that abortion has killed more people (and yes, I not only "believe" that a fetus is a "person", but I feel science has proven as much to all but the most die-hard Pro-Murder crowd.)
