Peter turned from the departing duo at the warlock's words. "Ah...still plan to look for Elsa," he informed him. "Might be in town. Considered such, might recall."

"Hm. How would you suggest looking for a single person in the region's largest and most densely populated settlement, provided that the said person
does not want to be found, but on the other hand
might just recognize you, noticeably bereft of Irene's delightful company and thus a much more attractive sight?"

Peter cocked his head. "...Suppose, could look in inns. Most likely place. Doesn't have a residence. Or, if does, unaware of it. Unlikely, however. So...investigate taverns, hotels. Night coming. Will likely be there. Should, that is."

"Exactly so," Wilhelm nodded. "Even though spreading out to investigate more taverns at once would probably save us time, you are our only reliable bait."

Peter blinked. "I...do not understand."

"I dare hold out the glimmer of hope that your companion might try contacting us herself when she sees you without Irene. That is, provided the circumstances of your parting do not differ from your presentation of them."

To anyone observing, it swiftly became obvious Peter was fidgeting in expectancy, shifting his weight form one foot to the other, fiddling with his sleeves and generally moving about unnecessarily. "Perhaps. Perhaps. But, must be found first. Therefore, best start looking. Otherwise...may miss her!" The last though shot a sudden alarm through him that Peter stiffened and looked ready to flee like a frightened rabbit.

The warlock shrugged, "Have it your way, then," turning around his mount and prodding it with his knees.

Peter trotted after the warlock without realizing it until he was.
The Darkshire prison was not quite a proper prison. Rather, it was a refurbished blacksmith and stable, a leftover from the days of the towns rebuilding after the First War. Stone cells had been roughly forced into the former stable, replacing wooden pens with steel bars and uneven cemented stone. It smelled of damp straw and un-emptied chamber pots. A smell which did not disturb the guard, who sat at his desk in the former smithy where the stench did not quite reach. The two halves of the building were connected by a small door cut into the wall. The door was currently closed, leaving the guard room smelling strongly of perfume.
This miasma was the result of the current guard, whose flowing blonde locks he carefully perfumed and primped whenever possible. A dandelion protruded from behind one ear, his feet propped up on the desk while his chiseled chin was set in the way only a person who profoundly did not want to be where they were could manage.
He jumped to his feet as the door banged open.
"I demand my compass back! It was a gift! A gift from an evil old lady who slapped me with a spoon! I suffered beneath the stinging slap of spoons!" Max shouted as he was forced through the door.
"Shut up!"
"Er..."
"Lock this one up, Neil," Mortimer ordered, keeping his hands tightly on Max's own bound ones. "And don't let him out!"
"Not letting people out of jail? Thank Light you warned him about that," Max snarked.
"Quiet! Get the door!"
Fumbling with the keys, Neil opened the jail door. Mortimer forced his prisoner into the row of cells, the perplexed Neil following behind. They shoved him into a cell and departed.

Meyer looked up.
"Harpy, or whichever moniker you would like to be addressed with, would you not still go along for the ride?"

"I am quite confident he will break himself out soon, provided the lack of substantial evidence does not let him out even earlier," the warlock said calmly, toying with the compass. "And then, he will inevitably seek out either Irene, or us first to get his hands onto the nearest reliable means to, again, seek out Irene. Either way, our paths will cross again."

Peter watched the harpy depart with a pained expression. "Is...Some way, possibly, their pursuit could be prevented?" he asked contemplatively.

"Oh, yeah. That sucks and awful and all that buddy," Max said distractedly, prowling about the cell like a trapped beast and eying the walls and bars.
Neil sighed and returned to his seat, slouching int he chair once more. He picked out a well thumbed book. Licking his thumb, he turned to a marked page.

Kalina did as suggested and followed the gnome. Or rather, she led the way for the first tiny bit, since she was already standing by the door. It swung open effortlessly; she had feared a huge, eartdrum-piercing groan from the hinges, but only a tired whine was heard.
Standing in the hall by the endless row of cells she waited for Gregg to make the first move.

Richard walked over to the table and offered his hand to help Sherry up. "You don't need to worry about my gadgets exploding unlike that goblin junk." He said.

"Undoubtedly. However, I think that it will be more efficient to deal with them once they cross our paths again. We have a head start
and
a means of cutting angles; provided we do not dawdle, our best course of action is proceeding with finding your companions.
That is my opinion. Feel free to argue."
