My server, Azjol Nerub EU, has PLENTY of healers but very few tanks. Annoying because my character is a Holy Paladin and it's hard to find healer slots in groups - if I wasn't raiding I'd consider respeccing Protection.

Frostwolf US (pvp) - Horde
We are always having a shortage of tanks and healers. My guess it that is comes from being on a pvp server where it's hard to survive as a holy/prot spec.

That's just how it is. Everyone wants to pew pew, I give credit to those who spec prot or healer spec to support those who don't.

All classes can be dps. 4 classes can heal, but only 3 can tank. And that is why there always will be needed more tanks.

agreed, tanks are most needed, next is healers (Draenor)
this may be because tanking mechanics (in my opinion and several others) are the hardest to grasp
healing, learning the timing of heals is important
DPS can go all out and is the easiest
also, leveling as healer or tank is pretty darn hard and slow

Actually, it's not too bad to level as a healer or tank if you mostly try to group and get into instances. Solo questing can be a real pain tho. It's certainly not easy mode, but it can be very fun and rewarding.
At least on my server, there seem to be a fair number of decent healers but good tanks are VERY hard to find. You really don't want to get into one of those situations where you have 3 hunters and no tanks, but it happens.

I quite enjoy playing my prot paladin, can both heal and tank Outland 5mans, which means I rarely have problems finding instance parties. It suits me well since I rather dislike quest grinding.
Although dps is very enjoyable from the perspective of a Black Temple raiding tank for the simple relief of responsibility. Any dps can walk down to the kitchen and make coffee during a Hyjal trash wave and no one will complain, if I leave it means you have a possible three to five murderous mobs on the loose killing healers and whatnot, shortly after a possible wipe and 24 people gloomily wondering what the hell I'm doing. Even in the best case with enough tanks to cover the situation without me I will leave my co-tanks stressed due to more mobs to try and control, healers without any perspective moaning at tanks over mobs going for them because warlock #17523 couldn't be arsed checking where the sheeps were before starting to throw Seed of Corruption and quite a few people having to improvise because their usual behaviour depends on me being around.

That's why I've got two characters: Feral Druid + Resto Shaman =)

I wish they'd make tanking and healing as fun as doing damage. :/
We seem to have a lot of healing, but not enough tanks. Because everyone who can tank would rather DPS.

3.0.0 seems to be getting rid of the "LF Tanks" board, and it's going to be "3 Death Knights LF Healer and 1 <insert other class here> and gtg!"
Kinda sad, but anyone can see it coming that 2/3 of a server is going to drool over a new class until it's not new anymore, and we'll still have just as many group problems, but on the other end of the spectrum.
And to Riven, Healing some of those, if you take it in stride and not just a Healbot, can be just as much fun. You get to play a "God" type character that everyone is counting on you.

It's kinda interesting that they said that Death Knights will start at lvl 55, which means they'll have to level all the way through TBC again. So expect some delay before DK's become common... yes, loads of people will make one, but with 10+ days playtime before you get to Northrend they won't become a dime-a-dozen that fast.

I disagree. Healing & tanking is more fun than doing damage. There you have it. ;-)
Obviously everyone just has it's own preferences and likings. And obviously more people like dealing damage more than healing or tanking. While i agree that you have it a lot easier to solo things, going tank / healer will get you more group options.
Just do what you want, the game will offer something for you. ;-)
