Even at max level, I was used to seeing nobody around, until the CRZ came in; shocked me to suddenly find a lot of people running around doing the Molten Front dailies at the same time I was. Mergers may help the issue, but it wouldn't fix them completely either.

/shrug Who knows; for all we know, mergers could make a thousand times worse.

Personally I feel that this feature in its current state is utterly useless for the purpose it was created. Sure its nice seeing people on other realms in dalaran, but i'm certain that within 1 or 2 or maybe 5 months people will be tired of getting ganked all the time be it alliance or horde, or the queues to kill a certain mob, or always being second to a node
But this is exactly what I and players who joined a pvp server ran into during my early TBC days.
I learned to survive, avoid and adjust. It was fun.
The game didn't suffer then , the population was growing.
I have to wonder..why are so many players that caught up with the economic situation.
The game is about adventure, danger, battle...etc.
Not mining nodes or herbs.
Questing is wide spread and XP, easily earned through other venues as well.
If you can't handle this...how are you going to handle MoP, when all the 85+ head back out into the world again. O.o
You're really missing the bulk of the issues people have with CRZ. I'm an avid participant in pvp, it's all I really enjoy doing. I say this because there is this myth that it's only the pve crowd who hate the crz situation. What blizzard needs to do is just admit they have less players and too many servers, then they need to properly address the problem and merge servers. They are too worried about appearing weak, appearing like the game is in decline and in doing so they're acting in a fashion that is disruptive to the integrity of the game.
I've been playing since TBC...I'm aware of issues.
The server merge issue has been beatin to death...I've been a proponent of it for years.
they are not going to do it...It's too risky business wise. Merging servers(aka: closing one) would send a negative ripple through the market. Now more then ever Blizz can't afford to loss stock value revenue.
CRZ is how far they will go for now. Does it have issues...no more then LFD or LFR did at their onset.
Funny thing is I can't recall a thread complaining about new players designation which tantamount to the same result. A server gaining a higher population.

This guy makes some nice points about CRZ.
That person makes some valid points.
But.....
The opt out ability would require Blizz to create empty servers just for CRZ..otherwise it won't be fair to the players on the servers being used for CRZ.
second....this isn't meant for us in general. This meant for the new players who Blizz hopes will be buying MoP.
When that is released...most of current crop will be heading towards Pandaria. The lower zones should quiet down. We should at least give it that much time.
Third..I play on a very active...high pop server...even so the questing zones were bereft of player activity.
CRZ has restored that feel of activity back into those zones.
Why do so many players chose Stormwind/Orgr to make as as their home city instead of the likes of Exodar or Silvermoon city, which can provide the same services.
I would fathom they like to see other players around them.
I think this applies to the new players as well, who will be more tuned into that, then their economic situation.
Finally...the poster claims "many many" players chose low/med pop server for their intimacy.
How can that be claimed in the face of LFD and LFR which have already decimated server intimacy.
It seems "many many" players were willing to give up that server intimacy in exchange for freedom of activity.
In the pages and pages of forum threads I have read...it seems to come down the economic havoc that CRZ is causing.
Blizz will need to address this. Is a universal AH possible within each battlegroup?
As for farming mats....this is a tough one.
Blizz is probably monitoring it, but I get the feeling they are going to give MoP some time to develops, before addressing it.

CRZ is awesome.
Take Netherstorm for example normally dead and i have been doing a few quests there and it is swarming with pvp battles, great fun.

CRZ, admittedly, is great for PvP servers.
CRZ, however, is horrible for PVE servers.
Cheers.

So I'm starting to see why CRZ can be a bit frustrating. Legions of people dueling in front of Durotar aside, crippling lagspikes when phasing in/out are fun.
Not that bad though. I guess it's time to take my Hunter skills to the regional stage.

I had my first actual World PvP experience last night in like a year because of CRZ. My boyfriend was running the Zul'Drak arena for my Shadow Priest who was leveling, and on the third boss or so an 85 horde showed up with 2 low levels for the same quests. They were letting us do them, so we were going to live and let live, but right on the last boss the idiot lock decided to run down and steal the mammoth so our boss despawned. So we decided that if they weren't going to let us finish, we could at the very least return the favor.
Eventually it was my hunter, BF's frost mage and a warrior friend of ours who went out and held the arena down long enough for me to go back on my priest and finish the quest. Then we hung around to make their lives difficult because they had started it. Eventually they had to get 6 people to clear the three of us out (and I'm not very good at PvP, so it was really my BF and his friend who held them off when there were like 3 or 4 of them), which was pretty satisfying.
All in all, I do like this aspect of the CRZ- I forgot how fun impromptu little skirmishes like this were. I still think they need to fix the issue with rare spawns, though.

I think the point of debate is that many people consider emptier zones to be a better product, rather than a lesser one. Not everyone, but apparently enough people that it's a debated issue.

I'm on a PvE server. I hate CRZ, mainly because of how impossible it makes farming anything semi-rare (and don't even TRY rare).
Also unlucky enough to be a realm paired with Azuremyst (US). I don't know what the hell is wrong with that realm, but almost all of my problems with CRZ outside of rare farming come from that realm. I don't know if they're all incompetent or just noobs, but they're already screwing crap up and being overly-sensitive about words.
I, for one, will be using PeerBlock for this little problem. Even if it's just to block Azuremyst zones.

I hated it at first. I really did. Now that I've gotten used to defending myself again, it's gotten better. If they drastically increase node and spawn times, I think I'd have little to #$%^& about. It's kind of fun to talk cross realm, but I can see it devastating to auction houses on dead servers.

It's a MMO so, where the interests confict, Blizzard surely has to come down on the side of those who want to see other players.
I think the question has been whether or not there are too many people crammed into the real estate. I don't know that the majority of people are saying there should be no other people around ever- they're just saying that there are too many people for the available resources.
If I someone came to a town planning board concerned that they were adding 12 new housing developments, but hadn't adjusted the school budget or facilities, the sewage facilities, the public transportation system, etc. to accommodate that influx, are they anti social, or are they looking at legitimate quality of life issues?
I don't think more people is a bad thing. But, if they cram too many people into each zone, it can become a bad thing.
