Nicely done, team! I also missed the moment when the icons for the BBCode formatting got changed, but I like those better - they feel more Wowhead-y. Only thing I am not 100% sold on are the red buttons. I think I understand the logic, they are not visually unpleasant to me, but they feel kind of off. A little.
Looks good! The design in itself didn't bother me much, but I always found the way of returning to the main site a bit awkward. Now the news section is an integral part of Wowhead again, which makes navigating the site more intuitive. It runs better than its predecessor, too, it seems. On the old site pages often took more than a minute to load and sometimes I was afraid my browser would crash under the strain. Even though it never did, it wasn't what you'd call 'easy browsing'. 2.0 seems to have fixed that. Good job!
TYTYTYTYTYTYTY! Omg this is way better then the past year. I have dropped off coming to the site because of the lack of convienience. Thank you for reinstalling my faith in your content management team!
Fantastic work to all involved. TYVM :-)
Now it's 20% cooler
the new design looks pretty neat!
thank you
I enjoy it on the same domain as Wowhead, I never liked that part, but I did love the original layout of Wowhead News. Especially the buttons. That's a really minor detail but I think little things like really make a design pop out and shine a bit more, the big red blob-like buttons just don't do this for me.Overall the design is nice. I preferred the original but it makes sense for the domain and the entire concept of it being related to Wowhead and not a completely separate news website.
This post was from a user who has deleted their account.
yay, back on the main domain again! Will take a closer look later, though I have already something to nitpick, the red "Post a comment"/"Submit" buttons look kinda out of place.
Thanks for the domain change!
A few of my copper cents (just my humble opinion, one of many, feel free to just ignore them):- first off: kudos on the work you guys did to improve the news. ^^ I for one never really understood why the news had to have its own domain (and login); glad to see it's back to it's normal url - and the functionality that comes with it, like the nice header with tabs that the rest of Wowhead has- I have to admit that I'm not really seeing the 'incredible likeliness' to the Wowhead pages that everybody else is talking about... okay, there's the familiar header at the top, but some things are almost alien. The speech bubble with the number of comments inside it, the big red 'comment'/'submit' buttons, they stand out to me in a not very positive way - a bit too much 'inyourface', so to say- I feel the 'Browse by Tags' could use a bit of love; after having used it a few times I feel it's not living up to its potential. Only some of the tags are listed in the widget, the search box seems to have vanished entirely now - but even when it was still there I had a hard time using it, for instance to search for all articles related to transmogrification (the guides in particular). A few suggestions, if I may be so bold:
Good job people :)
Looks awesome compared to the old site - will definately use it more now
I agree with some posters that the red button is alarmingly shocking. Another shade of grey wouldn't hurt as a comment button :P
I wasn't that happy with the first version of Wowheadnews, but I'll happily say that this one looks great. Well done!
I like your news website. It's better than your rival's. Your rival's often posts very bulky and unresearcheed information and it's often wrong.
