QOTD Thread #332- Do you think that people should keep cats outdoors?

But on a different philosophical level, I don't really think the question matters. I exist, for all intents and purposes. As far as my own life goes, I
seem
to exist. Tying my mind in knots puzzling over whether I can prove %100 whether I exist or not serves no useful purpose to me. It reveals no new information about the universe, nor does it provide any sort of philosophical truths I can put to use in my life. All it does is go "Ha ha, you can't prove it, you can't prove it!"
This is why falsifiability is so important in science. It's very, very easy to suggest something and not be able to prove it wrong. An infinite number of scenarios can be posed that are impossible to prove wrong, "I do not exist" being one of them. The only thing that makes any individual hypothesis interesting, from a scientific perspective, is being able to think of a way that you
could
prove it wrong.
I don't think they're necessarily 'different.' I mean I use the same leap and bound in the original one to say "I'm not a drug-induced pink elephant."

I'm not a drug-induced pink elephant
Am I the only one?

But how does that help me?

You can give it nightmares?

Heh, I must say this QOTD made for some very special discussions. On the other hand, judging by the responses I don't think this is the kind of question people want to answer in this thread.

Ya think.
I propose the next question should involve what side of the roll toilet paper should come off of, or whether ketchup is better than mustard. Certainly nothing more serious than what color socks we are wearing. Those are the kinds of questions that we use to get to know each other... not questions about how we view ourselves and our existence.

The whole thing, I think, is really disappointing. moderated(##RESPBREAK##)136##DELIM##hatman555##DELIM##Some content has been removed because this is not the place for such discussions

The last 92 or 93 questions have not been as serious as this one, not even close - people were (are) freaking out because very few questions have required real thought and consideration. Whether you like it or not, the question you suggested (Which I, to be honest, kind of liked) was very different from earlier questions in both QOTD threads, and not everyone was happy with that.

I'll say it again:
The question had promise, but wasn't helped by pushing it down the discussion/debate path where people start criticising others' comments.
The question was fine. "Whinging and complaining" didn't hamstring a discussion, the fact that it's in the wrong thread hamstrung it. As with the RB, I think it's better that if you want to engage in a serious discussion that's more than a post or two long, better to create a new thread to discuss, rather than force it in a thread that isn't really geared for it.

Furthermore to Squish's point, this is not the only thread we can use to get to know each other in. I'm all for questions that require serious thought - and if you look back at Elhonna's QotDs some of them have been pretty meaningful questions - much more so than "What colour are your socks?".
Also, I'm against the idea of people suggesting questions in this thread without being solicited to do so by Elhonna. If she wants people to suggest questions for her, then I'm sure she will ask.

Thank you Donny =D
And thank you everyone else who said that they like my questions.
I don't think that this last question was unfair or unacceptable by any means- I wouldn't have posted it otherwise. Not everyone is going to like every question, but the point is not to tear each other to shreds here. If it could have been discussed without people getting upset, it probably would have been pretty interesting.
My point in continuing this thread was to try and have fun with it, and to let everyone get to know each other a little bit. I've been trying use questions where the answers might be a little personal and telling about your life/character, fun questions that people would enjoy answering and joking around about, and questions that would come up in the typical flow of conversation if we were all co-workers, or classmates or something. I thought I'd struck a decent balance between the three- if the consensus is that I haven't then I'm open to change. However, after catching up with the thread, I'm going to assume that the majority people were fairly happy with the line of questioning thus far.
@MyTie- if you're disgusted with the questions thus far, and think they're all about as fun and/or meaningful as "which side of the toilet paper should we leave up," then feel free not to participate. We have, I think, had some really, really personal information and conversations in this thread, as well as a lot of fun, and (regardless of the occasional attempt by various people to derail a question and turn it into something else), I think this has before yesterday been one of the more civil and good-humored threads in OT, and I think it can remain so.
#95- How are you artistic (kind of a broader question stemming from Edans suggestion). Do you draw, paint, sculpt, do graphitti (with the owner's permission of course!), paint miniatures, write, sing, play an instrument? Feel free to link or cut and paste your work, of you want.
I sing acceptably, and I am pretty confident that I am a good writer (though I rarely take the time to write anything that isn't work-related anymore). A lot of people heard me sing in Interest's vent, and I've written a lot in the forums, so I'll refrain from putting any examples here myself.

I sing decently, and play piano and flute. Trying to find a violin / cello teacher at the moment!

Well, I can sing pretty well, though not as great as when I was younger. Lack of practice can do disasters to a singing voice.
Other than that, I kinda suck at every other art. When it comes to drawing, I can barely make a house made of sticks. (And you'd have to lower your standards on the house part.................. and on the stick part)
However there is one art that I excel at.
Cooking =D
I'm a master IRON CHEF! When I'm in the kitchen, I'm not cooking, I'm making culinary pieces of art. Its why I'm currently studying on an advanced gourmet cuisine academy to hone my skills and hopefully make a living of it.
Everything I cook from cakes, to roast beef has an excellent quality on it. And its the form of art I enjoy and love the most.
And here's a free tip: They say the way to a man's heart is through the stomach, but that trick also works on women like you have no idea XDDDDDDDDDD
