Oh, also... you know what universe needs more games that are based in it? Fricking
World of Darkness
. Why did the blood-sucking goodness end with Vampire the Masquerade? One would say that now, when Vampires are so bloody mainstream, this IP could thrive, but for some reason it does not. The rights to that IP are in the hands of the guys who made EVE online, and they are supposedly "working" on some sort of an MMO (it should have released in 2009 but there is like zero fricking media coverage of the thing, so yeah, I doubt it is ever gonna happen).
I wouldn't entirely give up. They did a quick presentation during the 2012 Eve fanfest which basically amounted to
"We're making a game about Vampires but it's not like Twilight". I think we all know that starting the hype cycle too early is not good for a game and after the success of Eve people are really watching them so there's a decent argument to say that they're just handling the marketing responsibly along with a "it's ready when it's ready" attitude.
Also, just my own theory, I think that the development of Eve's ambulation and Dust pave the way for an avatar-based game which is something that CCP needed to develop entirely after Eve's "you are the ship" gameplay.

I would love to see a TRUE adaptation of World of Darkness as a video game. I'd prefer something single player, as there is so little combat and so much about personality and characterization that makes a WoD game feel like WoD, that I think an MMO would break immersion, and/or would have to be so combat heavy that it wouldn't feel like WoD. I'd prefer to see a cross genre game, where there are separate intersecting storylines (or at least factions, some of which would be unavailable based on race) for Kindred, Garou and Mages (which I believe are the most popular), though I wouldn't turn up my nose to a Changeling storyline as well. Maybe even a human path which might lead you into contact with all factions. It would have to be sandbox on the level of Skyrim to do it justice.
If and when the WoD MMO comes out, if it turns out to be any good, it would be the only MMO I have ever rolled on a RP server for.

I recognized that it's actually about Patty, so I sent him a /broboob.
Good to know I still have faithful friends. The rest of you should be ashamed.
I spent it writing 1700 words of an essay.

To be fair, there was a considerable push to develop WiS into something more at some point, devs were posting ideas about social areas (Jita would've been crazy) and how to mix it up with hacking / archaeology / salvaging and having the player character enter abandoned ships and stations for it for a while and then suddenly they (as in the... Incarna? team that were doing all the ambulation stuff) went quiet, then some team leader dev posted that most of that team had been reassigned, then someone posted that all the WiS continuation plans had been shelved because of "corporateness" (their words)...
I know there was a fairly vocal faction on the forums that considered any dev time spent on WiS anathema but I still think it was a huge shame. Considering the quality of the character stuff / WiS that
is
ingame and the Duke Nukem: Forever-isque development time it seems silly just to leave it as-is. Then again, there have been plenty of suggestions like yours that part of the work they did on WiS would be put to use in WoD (partially in response to Thror) and while CCP aren't exactly known for breakneck development schedules they certainly know depth (partially in response to Elhonna). My on and off years playing EVE have left me with the distinct feeling that you can trust CCP to do things well - it'll just take them several years. :9

I poked you with a priest friend stick the other week. Doesn't that count? :(

My life is a lie. I blame it on your old sig, but I suppose the whole Bulgarian tranny thing could go both ways... If I were you I'd still take that broboob, though.
I'm derailing, aren't I?

#316- What was the worst guildie you ever had like?
No naming or shaming- this is a discussion of characteristics. Also, it didn't have to be in wow- other mmo's, clans from other types of games, etc. all work.

By far the worst member of a guild I've ever had, was a kid named after one of the hero units in the original DOTA, back in the days I used to play Lineage II.
He was rude, crass, arrogant, often insulted the less experienced members, demanded (not requested) raid spots, and gave the clan (that's how guilds were called in lineage II) a bad reputation by griefing and PKing other people (PK is the term when you attack someone who didnt' fought back)
To make things worse, my clan, Quixotes Killers, was the only hispanic clan in the entire server, we had a really good reputation as the third best clan on the whole place, and we had members from all across latin america and spain, and from what country this guy came from? Yep, Venezuela :S and from the same state as me.
Once he found out, he threatened to physically harm me IRL if I ever killed his character again, which led to his ban. While I've met my share of bad people on the internet, I've never before, nor never again ever met a more unpleasant individual as this guy. I think he really was the most hated player on the server, specially by other Venezuelans (Giving us a bad name >_<)(##RESPBREAK##)8##DELIM##ElhonnaDS##DELIM##

Hopeless flamer, pessimistic like no one else I've ever talked to, famous loot "ninja" (liked to organise PuG the high-tier raids and drop out once he obtained whatever it was he was after, despite often advertising as "Full run" or whatever. He also kept on denying this despite many of us having been in raids with him on alts, and whenever someone asked him to quit that bull!@#$ he'd go into rage mode. He was also generally unpleasant, being an elitist prick and all that comes with that. To seal the deal, he tried to make older guild members leave by offering them spots in a new guild he was planning on creating. He was kicked after about 3 weeks in the guild, and I still have no idea how no one suggested he be booted earlier.

I haven't been in an MMORPG for years, and therefore haven't been in a guild, and I have a horrible memory, but there is this guy who STILL stands out in my memory. He would talk... constantly. Day and night. Every 5 seconds or so, he would post something. If you were logged in, you saw him talking. The guild tolerated it for about a week, then booted him.

We had a tank back in wrath, when we we raiding 25's, who was an absolutely terrible tank. It was nearly impossible to make progress when we brought him, and generally when we did it was because one of the other tanks pull through like a champ and picked up his tanking assignment when he died or lost control of it. No one was ever rude to him, or mean, but we did stop inviting him because we wanted to progress.
This guy, every time he didn't get invited, caused a major drama in gchat and vent about how it was discriminatory, and how it was unfair that only "popular" people got to go, and blah blah blah. Really likes to martyr himself, and the officers kind of skirted the issue and didn't kick him. We once had a raid delayed an hour because of his BS.
I can put up with a lot in a guildie- immature, poor taste in humor, bad at the game, even being needy. But there is a personality archetype- the "It's all about me, and I am entitled to everything I want" type that gets on my nerves soooo bad. They comprise most of the drama- royalty and the blatant gold beggers, and they won't last long in any guild I have a say in. We actually kicked one last night for gold begging in chat that led to an argument.

There have been a couple, all of which have been female.
First situation happened when we were raiding ICC, and the guild began to fall apart. The majority of us were still really good friends so we all banned together and joined this chick's random guild she had. Since it was her guild, she made the rules, and we all respected that.
Apparently she never liked me, and I most definitely didn't care for her but tolerated her ditzy, 'zomg imma gurl playin viddy games' mentality, because all I wanted to do was raid and enjoyed the people (apart from her) in my raid group. She had a crush on my healer (he had one of those voices where he could be reading the instructions on a yeast infection box and make it sound so good) but my healer didn't care for her one bit for the same reasons I did. She thought my healer and I doing dungeons together were dates and that he was going behind her back and cheating on her, even though they were never ever technically together.
Needless to say, she started targeting me with snide remarks and harassment, and kicked me out of the guild on the account of "not being fit for the group." Everyone else left the guild after I was kicked and we all . This girl kept sending me mail and whispers from random toons she'd make, and I ignored every single one. She eventually said she was going to find out where I lived and cut me, and that is when I reported her for threats. I never heard from her again.
Oh, and if "Rysan the Shaman" ever reads this, please find me! Our names brought us together, and I could use a shaman healer nowadays! </3 :(
Second situation was with the current guild I'm in now. This girl thought she was the bomb diggity, because blood elf paladins are a dime a dozen ya know. Anyway, she raided with us for a few months, always putting her snotty two-cents in whenever she felt like it was needed, like talking @#$% about the raid instead of helping improve.
Eventually she stopped showing up for raids, saying she put in an application to one of the top guilds on our server at the time, and that it looked promising. We all were relatively relieved about it, so we kept her in the guild until she had the spot in that other guild.
I wasn't online when it happened, but apparently some #$%^ went down and her and a couple of the officers got into it. She was talking smack, etc etc. She and her alts got booted out and she was left without a guild for a while. She sent me a few pieces of mail, saying that I should have never gotten the tank spot because I'm a terrible tank and a &*!@#. I learned from my previous experience with people like this, so I reported and ignored her. Haven't heard from her since. She may have gotten that spot in that guild she hoped for, but I can tell you that guild is no more in this expansion.
