The ability to be creative in our literature and art.
Let's face it there are so very few truly unique ideas out there in books, music, movies and art. It's all regurgitated pop culture now, the spark of inspiration has faded. I'd love to see a new Renaissance.

I would like it to be just to treat people like people, and not like gay or straight people, not like black or white people, not like Muslim or Christian people. Just like people.
Omg yes. Labelling like that just needs to stop altogether, really.

To be fair, most art and literature from previous generations were also based on much older ideas and things.

Morality, or love.... I guess you can't have one without the other.

I'd like the next generation to not take their parents for granted, to learn work ethics and character, and rediscover creativity through
real
musical instruments. No more of the dubstep #$%^.

#48- This one is just for fun. If you could pick a fictional character for each of the following, who would they be and why:
1) Your Boss
2) Your Spouse
3) Drinking and/or hang-out buddy
4) Friend you go to for advice

I don't think this is true. 150 years ago in developed nations the literacy rate was 50% of the adult male population. Our perception of the average quality of entertainment back then is marred by the fact that only the fantastic is preserved. Most people aren't going to watch the drek that's produced today in 50 years and the few that do will probably think it's the pinnacle of comedy due to nostalgia filters.
Boss: The Dude from the Big Lebowski. He'd tolerate pretty much anything I think.
Spouse: Jenny Sparks from the Authority. Unless I had to live in that universe. My parents would probably prefer I get hitched with Sarah Miles or some other Graham Greene character.
Drinking buddy: This one is tough. Huge selection to choose from. I checked my books, albums and DVDs for inspiration and alighted on Sebastian Flyte. Incredibly rich alcoholic. What's not to like? Originally thought Tim Finnegan, but past the fifth pint I wouldn't be able to decipher what he was saying. Oh, Obelisk and Captain Barnacle also occurred to me.
Advice: Probably Dr. House. I knew it'd be someone that plays a comic character, but I wouldn't want them to be inept or harsh as comic characters often are. Either him or Father Ted, anyway. Possibly Brann Bronzebeard.

answer number 1, the adventure edition:
My boss: Indiana Jones the famous adventurer!
My spouse: Lara Croft the only female adventurer I can think of!
My drinking buddy: Prof. Edward Mallory, a paleonthologist and inventor from a novel by W. Gibson!
Friend I go to for advice: Bear Gryllsman! (That is a fictional character I just made up. He is Bear Grylls but he has a -man behind his name.)
answer number 2, the surreal edition:
My boss: Galactus, eater of worlds.
My spouse: Totally Spies. All of them.
My drinking buddy: Michaelangelo from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Friend I go to for advice: The Advice Dog from the Mushroom Kingdom.
answer number 3, the edition with only hot chicks:
My boss: Tsunade from Naruto. She would give the best work assignments ever.
My spouse: Liara T'Soni or Tali Zorah vas Normandy <3
My drinking buddy: My actual drinking buddy is a hot girl. I would not want to replace her with anyone.
Friend I go to for advice: Lisbeth from the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, book by Stieg Larsson. For the record, I liked her best in the movie from 2009, not the one from 2011. She could give me advice on hacking related stuff for when I am writing my sci-fi novels.
answer number 4, what I originally planned to post but then I felt like joking around a bit first:
My boss: Noone really. I don't want to have a boss.
My spouse: I can not think of a single female character that I would like this much.
My drinking buddy: Garrus Vakarian
Friend I go to for advice: Henry Dorsett Case and Molly, characters from Neuromancer.

1) Hmm. Barristan the Bold, because he's such an amazing old man, or Dany because she's fierce.
2) Peeta Mellark is so nice that he's just perfect for anyone. Until he goes brainwashed and tries to kill you, but still. Or Sansa Stark so I could hug her and let her know that not everyone hates her.
3) Too many. Like, seriously. I can't even formulate a proper response.
4) Hermione Granger.

No, I can't imagine being in a relationship with Hermione because she'd be so much better at everything than me that I'd feel super inadequate. >.>
