So I'm going to let this thread stay open--I'd like people to discuss about it and analyze things, not flame the OP. This seems to be one of the better "Why I'm not playing WoW" posts, and I know we get tons that are annoying, but this one seems to be a considerable analysis of their feelings. I don't agree nor disagree, just stating there here so people don't flame :)

Simply put; it sounds like you are out of the WoW need to play, so keep on it and don't return. I'm currently in Beta, and I'm loving the new stuff with MoP; it's going to be a nice addition to game, and it feels like some fresh air to it.

Well if you think about it, playing any type of video game is a time sink. What is more productive about playing Skyrim over WoW? In fact most hobbies are just a time sink. But if you get that feeling that what you're not doing isn't that fun then it is time to move on.
Like it was in Wrath, the months between the last patch of an expansion and the beginning of a new are quite dull. If you are done with the current tier of raiding and have done enough PvP, then there is little reason to keep playing unless you want achievements or more alts at the level cap.
You can just wait a few months and when patch 5.0 comes out, the one with all the pre-event stuff that comes out before the actual expac, you can just resub then and continue playing. If you don't like that idea then continue to wait, I'm sure Blizz will offer you a free week of play at some point.

whereas in WoW, I'm sitting in a capitol city all the time waiting for my LFR/PvP/LFD queue to pop.
So, you don't have any desire to do quests, rep grinds, pet hunting, or achievement completing? Since there is quite a lot of stuff to do beyond sitting around waiting for queues to pop.

Then it does look like it's time to hang up WoW.

Honestly? No. I've gotten pretty much all the achievements that I can get, that don't require hours and hours of grinding, and the only way I can do some rep grinds for any substantial rep is with my tabard and dungeons, so again waiting for queues. As for pet hunting, no I don't really care for pets, and every quest is the same fetch quest, so I don't see much of a point in doing them.
You know, the sad part is I completely understand the general predicament that I think is being described here...My old suggestions thread actually detailed this problem many major patches ago - at least now they're *somewhat* addressing it.

Everyone is different , if what you said is the way you feel then you have made the right choice .
I personally find quite a lot to do , the only times I am sitting in SW are when either I am recruiting for my guild ( a relatively new guild currently at Lvl 13 ) or when waiting for teh RBG queue as that is only 2 min average wait .
My main is in straight 397s exept for my bow ( raidfinder DW bow ) and my trinkets ( still have Fluid death as I havent had any luck on trinkets in RF or 10 man ) but I still enjoy doing dungeons
Obviously lvling the guild is a priority so doing dailies or dungeons in guild groups , and questing give me something to do , but I also love making gold so I find things like mining and skinning quite enjoyable , even fishing I find relaxing .
I have also been working on Achievements , -still at just below 8k ach points while the top in my guild has over 11k .
I just find the game a great way to relax after work - I can honestly say that I really enjoyed Cata

I dont know if this will appeal to you or not but may I suggest you forget about finding things to do in the game and instead focus on meeting people. Fill up your frineds list, aim to meet at least one new person a day. Before you know it you have so many people to talk with you generally just end up getting swept along with whatever they happen to be doing and playing the game becomes secondary to socializing.
As a byproduct of having a busy social life in wow its been my experience I end up getting achievements I didnt know existed and seeing parts of the game I otherwise wouldnt have.

It wasn't untill that point i realised how much i'd missed playing wow with friends and guildies....
Not the game itself, but the people that come with it.
And that's what it's all about imo.
This.
The symbiotic nature of the community and the game .
If you were never able to capture this..then WoW is in effect, just another console game and will always lose its appeal once the novelty wears off.
The time sink you speak of was meant to reinforce bonds between members of the community, not to sit in major cities waiting for a que.
Unfortunately, Blizz has done everything they can to reduce to insignificance the need for guild/friends, for the sake of expedience.
Instead a waiting for guild/friendlist players to log on to run with familiar faces ..we wait for ques to pop to run with total strangers.
When you won a new piece of gear...you shared reward and accolades with your guild mates.
Now anonymous players post thread complaining that LFR rolls are unfair because you won and they didn't.
Not sure what MoP will bring to the table. Being "cool" will only last for so long.
The fact that Blizz had to entice players with free gifts, beta access, transfers..etc to keep them playing or to come back to playing....speak volumes to the turnover rate they are experiencing.
Players like yourself.
If you come back...try a different approach.
Try running your own guild.
It's tough in the current atmosphere..but try it anyway...take it as a challenge.
Perhaps on a new players server..using you experience to shepherd the leveling nubs to become good players :)
Done right...it will bring you a rewarding feeling you yet to have experienced.
The time sink will be well worth it.
peace.

I really do think there's an unfair expectation on WoW and MMO's in general. They aren't infinite in content. At any point. Nothing is. No other source of entertainment will keep you supplied with new forever nor do I think it's fair that people expect Blizz to have enough "stuff" to do to keep you entertained 24/7. They provide the sandbox and some toys to play with, the rest is up to you. (Not entirely directed at the OP)
For $15 a month, every person has to be a jduge as to the value of the entertainment they will get over the next 30 days. For me, the price has most often been worth the amount of entertainment I get out of it. I've personally quit like 7 times when I feel like the $15 isn't worth the entertainment I am getting out of the game. Then, I come back later when it's fun again or something new arrives. That's the beauty of WoW.
Good for you for taking a break. There's a million and one ways to fill up your free time. Find one that you enjoy.
