I'm actually wondering....did you ever say if she said yes or no to going to your prom?
Just cause she says things won't work out, doesn't mean she can't visit you and have a fun time for a night. Any by fun time I mean dancing! *shifty eyes*

I actually ended up not having a date for my prom. Rather than dwell on it, my solution was to get one of these 4" tall inflatable blue aliens from Spencers, put him in a suit jacket and plastic top hat, and bring that to the prom. You know, just to have fun with it. I gave my extra ticket to my sister, and the three of us went with my friends- still did the limo thing. We all had fun, danced all night, and then like 5 of my friends and I ended the night playing poker with the limo driver in a 24-hour diner. It was fun :)

This thread seems unintentionally immature, like... adolescent in the age sense, not the insult sense.

I never actually asked her to prom... I wanted to hang out with her before then but even at first when I tried to hint that I wanted to hang out with her she would totally ignore what I said. Ironically enough, I actually have a date to prom now that I was kinda set up with by a mutual friend, but I would have rather went with that girl that I actually really liked. Do you think it would be a mistake to ask her if she would have went with me or something like that?
I think you should just ask her to go. It will be something you'll regret not knowing.
As for your new date. Its early still, if the other girl says yes, she'll understand if you let her know early.

Eh, I'd say since he has a date, shouldn't worry about 'what may have been' and just stay focused on the now. Also, Viking, how much of an age difference was there between you and her? You may have just been stuck in a good friend zone and and she found a guy there at her college...which really, could be expected since you said she's at least 4 hours away heh.

but I still thought that was a significant event when she talked to me from 2am to 3am in the morning when she was alone and cold and her best friend's bf had been arrested at a party. Eh....that could have just been someone to talk to while she was waiting and you were the only one up and not dealing with the cops heh.
Also my current date is strange... she told two of her friends that she wanted to go to prom with me including my best (girl)friend but since I asked her, she won't talk to me after me trying to text her twice with the only explanation from my best (girl)friend that "she is a bad texter" so that's why she doesn't respond. She also has one class with me and as soon as class is over practically runs out the door and never does the lab with me (class is biology). It just seems like she doesn't care at all. What makes it even weirder is she supposedly chose me over two other guys to go with./shrug Girls are weird at that point in time; and you did say it was a fix up so possible you are just meant to be dates for the prom and that's about it.

Girls are random. They are unpredictable and irrational at best. But hey man, there's always someone there. Somebody you love and someone who loves you back. Just keep trying. Never give up.
I've never had a real love in my life. Sure I've had girlfriends, but I've never met someone where I thought to myself "I want to spend the rest of my life with her". Cherish the good moments you had, cuz it's part of life.

I agree. No offense to the OP, but at your age these sorts of things seems HUGE...but then 5 years later you think about it and realize how ridiculous you were...and it only becomes more ridiculous as the years go on.
Wait until your girl problems involve your wife cheating on you, spending your money, not having sex ever. I hope that never happens to anyone here...but from what I hear it's common. O_O Things like a short text and taking a day or ten to respond will seem like a dream in comparison! Hahaha
(Not to say that all high school relationships are trivial, I've been with my boyfriend for over six years and we live together. High school sweethearts, and my prom date!)

Here's as good a place as any for me to vent about something that bugs me: this "friend-zone" that my fellow males seem to talk about pretty often. I understand that you're upset that the object of your affections doesn't want to pursue a relationship with you, but I see a lot of people vilify the girl in question, and that's where it gets bad. "Oh no! This girl likes me but doesn't want to pursue a sexual relationship with me! She's a *!@#$ who only wants #$%^&*bags, nice guys finish last, boo-hoo". Clearly that's an exaggeration, but not too much from some of the stuff I've heard, and it's extremely irritating. If you're a really "nice" guy you'd understand. I know it's tough to move on, but you'd have to find a way. It's just one of those unfortunate things in life...just don't make yourself look like the victim, and her look like she's in the wrong for not being attracted to you.

And us guys are just as bad in some respects. :P I hate when people just pussy-foot about things, although that applies to guys and girls both. If you seriously want to hook up with someone, man up and say it, or accept that it's not going to happen. Simple as. Cherish the good moments you had, cuz it's part of life.
Agreed with this, though. It's good while it lasts, but that won't necessarily always be forever.
