The phantom menace 3d CGI yoda is probably the only good one, but that was because yoda in the old version was a freaking puppet, so obviously CGI would be better.
I didn't like this. I preferred to think of Yoda as being almost transcendental, being above violence but condoning its use of self-defence in his followers. To see him fighting on equal terms with someone (even when he was younger) was kind of a let down. That's coming from someone that doesn't think Jar-Jar was any more ridiculous than Ewoks.
"So what if the new 30 foot painting has terrible additions? You guys can still enjoy the old version in the sketchbook".
Well, if it's what the original artist desires... Closer to his vision, y'know.
Though I agree with whoever said earlier it should have been in the Blu-ray extra scenes thingy.

See, I think the Star Wars movies were fine as is, and he should have left them alone. However, someone who can read needs to go back and fix "The Mist" and "I am Legend," because whoever shot those movies should have their artistic license suspended. At the very least, they should finish a book before they make it into a movie.
Actually, King liked the ending of the Mist movie, so in that case, either version does work: The book has a hope spot at the end while the movie jumps off the despair cliff. As for I am Legend....well, the original ending for that was that they were gonna let the vampombies walk in and talk the girl....but then test audiences complained, so they shoe horned in the action hero ending instead; but even the book ends on one hell of a down note, with the protagonist is killed and finds out he's the real monster of the story, since the half-vampires speak about him as the bogeyman; as Smith's was all about finding a cure, that ending doesn't make as much sense. Of course, I think the Omega Man was a much better retelling of the book(possibly).
Because most of the changes ruin the movies. That's why. The phantom menace 3d CGI yoda is probably the only good one, but that was because yoda in the old version was a freaking puppet, so obviously CGI would be better.
I like the Yoda Puppet a lot more then the CGI ragdoll in the prequels; that one didn't even look real.

heh, since we're speaking of dear old George Lucas here, I though I'd leave this here for your pleasure.
The reason why he made prequels instead of sequels.
http://www.cracked.com/article/167_5-reasons-star-wars-sequels-would-be-worse-than-prequels/
really good read (And as someone who DID played the entire Jedi Knight/Jedi Academy saga, and also read the whole Dark Empire comic, I can confirm this is very much true in every aspect)
Seriously, from the star wars expanded universe, I think only KOTOR and specially KOTOR 2 are the best things that have come out of it.
Time will tell if SWTOR will live up to the match set by its predecessors.

Eh....I can't agree: I like the expanded universe books, but I am glad Lucas didn't get his hands on them, beyond green lighting the plots(which the writer of the article seemingly forgets); I can see how Shadows of the Empire, Thrawn Trilogy, Dark Empire, and many many many others could have been made far worse with his hand on them......And for the shot at the Legacy timeline, I love those comics heh.
specially KOTOR 2 are the best things that have come out of it.Only if you get the mod to play all the cut content; otherwise, it's just KotOR 1 lol.

I read a couple of those (a friend of mine got some from colombia) but again, the issue here is that its THE EXACT SAME PLOT as the original trilogy but with other characters. Its like Tolkien writing a new LOTR trilogy that is about another hobbit, taking another ring, to another volcano that its protected by more orcs, and a new lidless eye made of fire. Ring any bells?

meh, even with all the cut content, KOTOR 2 remains as one of the best written games I've ever played, and while yes, I'd love to play it as it should had been, nonetheless it remains as a fantastic exploration on all the fridge logic regarding jedi and the force (Courtesy of one of the best video-game characters ever: Kreia)

Its like Tolkien writing a new LOTR trilogy that is about another hobbit, taking another ring, to another volcano that its protected by more orcs, and a new lidless eye made of fire. Ring any bells? You can say that it's the same plot, but not the same story: Yes, it's Jedi vs Sith, but at the same time, there's also the Galactic Alliance against the Sith Empire, the rebellion within the Empire itself between the Sith and the normals, the fact that there are actually two Empires: the Sith and the Empire who also uses Jedis. Even Cale is only a little bit like Luke; Cale is more hardened, and swaps back and forth between Light and Dark side a lot more then Luke ever does. There are a lot more Light side Jedi's around this time. As for the villain....I wouldn't compare Krayt to Sedious; Krayt had more a of a reason for everything he pulled, such as banishing the rule of two and is more of a throwback to the original Jedi vs Sith wars from the Old Republic days and even Krayt isn't as evil as his right hand man.
So sure, you can say it is, but I don't see it.

I didn't see the 3d phantom menace, just clips of the new cgi yoda.
Yoda was CGI in all of the prequels......

not true, he was a puppet for ep 1.
What really irked me though, is that the puppet used for ep 1 was of inferior quality than the one used in ep 5 an 6. particularly his lips.

Been a long while since I saw that, and I thought he was a CGI creation at that point.

Personally, I dont mind that they changed Yoda from a puppet to a CGI version on ep 1, simply because the pet used there is TERRIBLE.
I'd hate it more if it was done to ep 5 and 6, since that puppet was awesome.
But then again, as boronizde said, its not like they can retro-actively change my VHS movies, so what do I care?
Lucas can re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-release his movies for the billionth time as much as he wants, if I don't aprove what he's done with it, I aint buying it. Can't get any more simpler.

To be fair, that would change a single piece of work, and replace it with something new. This is more "What if he repainted a second version with a mustache, and a third version with a sub-machine gun, and a fourth version with an obnoxious creature with long floppy ears." The original would still exist. So, as much as all the subsequent versions would suck, they wouldn't have removed the first one from existence.
But he did change the original trilogy. And if the original trilogy were the mona lisa, then
this
is the new 3 movies (Episode I, II, III).
Edit: That's being nice.

First of the Mist ending was perfect. It's depressing and creepy and startling but it makes you think and not every movie has to end happy all the time.Which is why King liked it, in addition to his own ending where everyone is trapped in a world of monsters but the Hero, his son, and his love interest didn't die and they hear the word 'hope' on a radio.
I don't remember how I Am Legend ended but I do remember liking it because I love zombie movies, although there's much better ones. They weren't zombies; they were vampires.

to be honest, in the movie they were more like zombies.
No rotten skin, but they still ate human meat, not just blood, MEAT. And getting bitten by one turned you into one of them.
Plus their behavior was highly reminiscent of zombies (all feral) than vamps.

Only in Will Smith's version; the original I am Legend and Omega Man had them as vampiric...of course, said vampirism was caused by a bacteria instead of supernatural.....
