I love the competitive nature of dps. I typically play a caster.
My first instinct is to play a support class. Then I typically migrate to a rogue style class for ultimate gankage.
Im usually playing caster/archer classes, played those archtypes since my days back in EQ, the reason i enjoy playing these types is most games dont have them so op where nothing ever hits you so the idea of having to dodge and kite enemies around while dealing damage to them was interesting to me.
Generally, I find myself playing the classic Ranger; if I can take out its legs and finish it with a swift arrow through the eye before it has a chance to reach me, then I've done my job right; who needs clunky armour when you can kill them before they pose a threat?Truly though, I prefer this play style because it allows me to plan and prepare. I can stay at a safe range, evaluate the situation and act accordingly. Can I see a more powerful enemy there that I should prioritize and take out before engaging the others? Are any patrolling or on their own that I can pick off with my bow? Or, perhaps there's another path I can take and avoid a potentially troubling encounter altogether? Of course like any prepared adventurer I always have some sort of hand-to-hand backup to fall on on the rare occasion my bow doesn't finish the job before its begun (due to damage, not a miss. I don't miss.)This is why I love RPG's above all else; you can play the same game as everyone else but in a style that suits you and complements your play style. For me, that's the devilishly handsome young man hiding in the bush with an arrow nocked and ready to go.
I always play a stealthy little rogue, or a big hack-n-slash berserker.

Back in D&D I invariably played a half-orc cleric, but in WoW I seem to play anything and everything. Guess I have yet to settle on one, or even, two playstyles. Though I do seem to have more druids than anything else...
There's something wonderful about swinging a sword through the frozen bodies of your enemies, watching them shatter and fall around your feet. Whenever able, I prefer to be the mixed class typically referred to as the 'Battle Mage'. I've never been one for shields, a fireball in one hand and a short-sword in the other is as balanced as my lifestyle gets :P
Huntards are my lifeXD
I prefer the caster type (Warlock/Mage), but also like Druid type or Hunter for fun levelling.
I like to be the healer, so I have a lot of influence over who lives and who dies, but I usually end up a mage because the team needs one and no one else wants to do it.
When I'm playing a game with multiplayer I normally pick a support class, whether that be a tank or a healer just depends. If I'm playing alone I almost always pick like a rogue or mage. Theres a special part in my heart for Battle Mages though haha! The class system in Amalur looks so amazing in that its so diverse.. cant wait!
Usually a Hunter/Ranger, but I occasionally enjoy playing as a caster.
Im usually a stealth, ranged dps. Funny thing my main is has neither as I am enhance.
I prefer class based on versatility, but in most cases is not feasible, in general, Warrior / Archer or Rogue / Mage, which allows it to be good in combat in short and long raids and tactical combats using elemental advantages.
I always go for the Monk or Rogue builds at least first. and then branch our to casters. i really like a good game that has sneaking and control involved. Plus i like the monk/rogue builds because your running around taking on stuff you should be running from in cloth or leather. and standing your ground normally. but when things get hairy. you can make a quick escape.
