For my first playthrough I pick a basic fighter as they are usually the most straightforward class to play, letting me focus on the story of the game instead of combat mechanics.

I usually play a rougy character but if it's possible i mix some spells too.
Usually pick a caster type class, as they are generally weak at the start but amazingly powerful towards the end game.which is amazing in rpgs cause you actually get the feel you leveled your character from nothing into a wise old wizard-y type char =)
I usually play a melee class, but I will weave in some spells in say, Skyrim, if the spell is powerful enough/looks amazing.
I usually like the shapeshifter or sharp-shooter type classes, anything I can hit a headshot with or beat the crap out of =)
Anything brutal and evil, maybe a huge 2-handed wep (even 2 of them) or just plain evil spellcaster.
I typically choose a Warrior. I love the rushing into enemies. Even better if I have high survivability with a 1H + shield. The armor also typically looks really awesome. Also not one to think when it comes to fighting =p
I am one of those slow and steady players with RPGs typically go big heals at the start if possible then stack on the damage magic. Never much for melee until recently making a rogue in wow.
I prefer mage/caster type heroes in RPG games. I like keeping distance from my enemy and attacking him with powerful destruction magic.
I prefer to play the damage dealing class, and I like being "On the good side". SO clearly I play a Paladin ;)
In most RPGs I typically choose a stealth character with some ranged offensive capabilities. Looking forward to trying out everything in multiple playthroughs of Reckoning though.
For some reason I always fancy the melee guys with big swords etc. in rpg's but I fell in love playing my hunter in WoW
hardcore melee player in any and all RPG's ;D preferably of the dual-wielding warrior sort.
I generally play a paladin. Some kind of hybrid with healing and fighting abilities.
