I usually stick to an offensive caster type class, sometimes a melee class as well.
Archer/Hunter/RangerAlthough I find that they're usually some of the weakest characters to play in games, I've always enjoyed the bow and arrows opposed to melee or magic. I'm not certain why, perhaps the feeling of stealthily stalking your prey whilst maintaining distance from predators is what I enjoy about the archetype.
I'm big on ranged physical dps so hunters/rangers/archers are my thing!
Ranged DPS is my favorite role to play. Typically, I choose a "class" with a bow and arrow type of combat. There's something about launching a flurry of arrows at your foes that slicing and dicing with a sword or axe just can't sate.
Casters, always - though recent games have seen me gravitate towards healers if that possibility is viable (i.e. it is not a solo RPG)
My preference usually depends on the game, but I generally gravitate towards a mage or rogue type class. I enjoy dabbling with all the classes I can and generally find myself playing one of those two. A mage/rogue hybrid would be awesome.
Give me a Bow and I'm a happy chap. I always start of any new RPG with whatever the ranged class is.(Edit: Ironically I still prefer Fantasy RPGs, so not a big fan of guns)
I generally play a rogue-type the first time through, then a play a mage-type the second time through. Usually dont play a warrior class at all, but with the way this is set up you can really mix and match your class so i may to a battlemage type deal.
I always play a Mage. Blasting baddies with fireballs never gets old!

i used to play the sneaky ranged classes, ie rogue in D&D or a ranger, but then i played my first tank in WoW and that was thati play the melee sword and board, maybe with a lil magic thrown in!
I've always been a "paladin" whenever possible in all MMOs. I never liked the idea of being bound to just DPS, or healing, or tanking. Paladin classes generally mean less time spent in game since you usually get a little of everything, thus keeping you from having to make another toon JUST to DPS, heal, or tank. My fav :)
I usually play a warrior-esque type class, but only if i can dual wield weapons, sometimes only a rogue class can do that. Generally i stray away from casters.
Mostly i play melee class + i like very much to withstand incoming dmg, dont like sneaky things... what i like is to take a group of enemys and kill them all :D so that could be more or less warrior/paladin classes if there is such combination ;)
I am drawn to healers. I like making sure other people stay alive and kill things. Then I get to be lazy and stand there sometimes because things are going so well.
