What do you think the main problem with MoP is?

Just wondering where everyone stands here.
To me, its the whole "Mists of Pandaria". You know, theres no real problem I'm seeing. In burning crusade, theres this whole new world and Illidan is going crazy etc etc, In WotLK its The litch king could take over Azeroth gotta stop him, and Cataclysm well the world has taken huge damage cause of Deathwing.
What's here? Am I missing something? And to my understanding, it seems there are several other important things going on outside of Pandaria but the name is... well...
Burning crusade could have been called "Beyond the Dark Portal" all about the new world, missing Illidan, Kael'thalas, etc. WotLK could have been "Ice Of Northrend" completely skipping the Litch King, the scourge, etc. Cataclysm could have been "Sands of Uldum" or "The Maelstrom revealed" or something, but its not.
I actually like the Pandaren, but I dont like how they chose their faction... something about it I just dont really feel. I like Monks, but Brewmaster? They really need to work on that name. Windwalker and Mistweaver are cool. Brewmaster sounds like something out of Club Penguin.
The big fear of everyone here is that World of Warcraft is becoming a kids game. The pandas are cool to me, but they are sort of... well... then again, we have Gnomes, Talking Cows, Elves and Goblins. It is also a choice- you are separated from friends, family, and everything you have ever known now to fight for one of 2 armies.
I just really feel like we're missing a lot. I mean its just about a new island and a new race. The new class is nice too, It's been a while since the last one. (speaking of, it said the first hero class- does anyone else feel like there could be another one?)
Another small thing I dont like is the new talents. Now talents are actually a lot more powerful but you only get 6. Part of the fun was leveling up and chosing talents. Now, how will tanking work? DPS? Healing? I feel like DPS and Tanking will be hurt most. You do get specialization spells which I like, but the talents... it feels like World of Warcraft is just becoming aimless. Kind of "Well you chose, we showed you what to do, now go have fun."

Beyond the Dark Portal was the name of the expansion pack to Warcraft 2: Tides of Darkness.
Brewmaster has been around since Warcraft 3.
Monks are not a Hero Class, and it sounds like Death Knights will be the only one.
And since the expansion is not even in Alpha yet, we know 5 things: Ancient enemies are threatening the Pandaren; the Mogu. War between Horde and the Alliance still. Said War is stirring up the Sha. The Mantids are starting to go nuts. Pandaria is finally coming out of the mists of history to be seen by non-Pandaren eyes, something that(RPG books aside) has not happened for 10 thousand years or more(they aren't clear when the Pandaren left Kalimdor after all).
Specs and Talents are still in pre-Alpha stage don't forget.

Very true. Maybe things will improve over time after Blizzard sees some fan reactions. I do know there is some big event involving the Draenei, and something involving the sunwell. Even though Pandaren were from Warcraft 3... I do see some Kung Fu Panda Rip offs. Jade Palace in KFP, Jade Forest in MoP. A monk attack is "Spinning Crane Kick" and there is a Crane on KFP. Like I said, I do like the Monk Class but it feels like there are Rip-Offs present. There is another thing lurking in the background that might escalate in MoP- Vol'Jin vs Garrosh.

You do realize that all of the places in Kung Fu Panda are based on actual Chinese locations right? And that the 5 Dragon Warriors are each based on a Martial Arts style? Also: There has been a spinning kick attack in a wide variety of things other then Kung Fu Panda; Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, dozens of Hong Kong action flicks.....

Actually I did not know that, either of those. And I'm aware, but perhaps the name "Crane" just kind of seems suspicious. But still, it seems really aimless to me. I also read the talents are just an experiment that are going to be highly changed and right now are just an example of what could happen. And are also quite buggy at the moment too, so thats a little encouragement. I just feel that its really aimless. And even though there is a ancient enemy targeting Pandaria...
My thing here is well, that'd be like let's say some ancient enemy attacked the Tauren or the Night Elves. What do the other races get? To go help out a little? It is somewhat similar to Cataclysm, since Pandaren are a mutual race, both armies rush to stop the thing affecting the Pandaren. Its not that I dislike this new expansion, but it doesnt seem well thought out right now, and I'm very skepitcal of it. The talents I like and dislike different aspects of, I'm excited about them but I wonder if they'll make me miss the old ones. I also like the monk.
Odds are I'll just make a monk that's not a Pandaren and play it. Even doing that though, you have one solid storyline, that an area in Azeroth is affected and you can go help out really. Burning Crusade a whole new world opened up, and everyone is rushing to see it, and the mainland is affected by it. WotLK the Litch King took over and threatened the whole world and his massive army of scourge attacked everywhere, likewise in Cataclysm deathwing affects the whole world. The way I see MoP, there are people rushing to Pandaria to help out every now and then, and streets of capital cities are empty, along with the rest of Azeroth- except the people roaming around trying to find something to do.

It seems pretty smooth just really aimless to me, maybe I'm looking at it wrong though. The talents seem to give buffs to a lot of classes, and weaken paladins (ABOUT TIME).

The threat to Pandaria starts due to the Alliance and Horde finding it: They bring their war to the ancient land, and at level 10 a Pandaren makes his decision to join either faction. From that point, he heads off to clean up work in Azeroth, then at 85 it's back to the continent to deal with the threats there; from the expanding war front, to the Mogu trying to take back their lands, to the Mantids invading and dealing with the Sha which are living negative emotions that are being spread even farther because of the war.

My only problem with MOP is that I don't think they're doing enough to push out the raiders.
I agree.

I hate to start waves, but honestly the biggest problem with MoP isn't anything from MoP itself, but it's more the expectations of the playerbase (whether that would be silent majority or vocal minority is another, rather important related matter).

Still, it feels highly Aimless to me. It feels like MoP would be more of a patch almost than an expansion.

This is true too, the "mist" is kind of also around the expansion. Its not that I dislike what's coming, or like, I just dont know what to expect and its making me very skeptical.

What exactly do you mean by aimless? Because honestly, it's the same thing as Vanilla, which didn't have a set end boss either, just a large number of threats you had to clean up and deal with.

This.
I know I can speak for myself, and many other players I've talked to who have quit, when I say that many of the end-game progression raiders from BC and even Wrath just aren't satisfied with the game anymore. The reasons may differ, but I know many long-time raiders who just one day decided they had enough of WoW, including myself.
The remaining players are looking towards MoP for that re-invigoration and just aren't seeing it. There's just that feeling of burnout.

The main problem with the next expansion will be like the start of every new expansion. A large portion of the players will turn into total egomaniacal tools for a month or two and ninja-needroll everything in dungeons to gear up for the first raid-tier.
We will also see deathtards v2.0, rise of the monktards, when everyone and their grandmother rolls a monk. Similar to start of wotlk. Remember running hellfire ramparts on your lvl 61 priest healer grouped with 4 deathtards named Arthasdklol? Deathgripping everything, needrolling everything, never succeeding in picking the right presence? etc etc. Exactly like that.

In all honesty, won't be as bad, since Monks are not a Hero Class and start at level 1.
