If Blizz raze level for f2p acc to 60, million players will leave. This game has anything you need at 60....
But maybe they do so, if the next path go to 285 level, blizz swim in to billions $$$ and a new game was created.

I greatly disagree. While it does give a LOT of content (and I do mean a lot in comparison to the current Starter Account), you still cannot access endgame content that is relevant (like MoP) and are restricted from entering expansion areas, which is about as large, if not larger, than the Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms.
I guess I could say more, but my suggestion thread would probably say it better.

I love this debate. My feeling is that if you raise the starter edition pack to 60, you would lose subscribers because there would be more players who ´play´the freebie version instead. You are right, the lvl 20 cap IS restrictive, and that is the point.. players are supposed to play for free, feel the restrictions and subscribe to get rid of those restrictions.
If you raise it to 60, then you would have all sorts of groups playing for free and doing vanilla raids as endgame... They would never have any intention of subbing.
Level 20 is enough.. a true new player is going to have weeks of content to play for free, maybe even a couple months. Also keep in mind, they are NOT going to feel as restricted as you do because they don´t know any better. When I first started playing, the first month, I never thought ´running´ somewhere was slow. But now after having epic-turbo-charged swift flight form druid.. I can barely tolerate playing a new toon. But again..new players don´t know the difference. You are looking at the ´restrictions´ as an experienced player. They aren´t nearly as harsh for new players and even level 20 cap isn´t that restricting. Level 1-5 is fast for a new player, but 5-20 is not.... unless they played WOW before, in which case they should already know if they want to subscribe or not.

I'd agree that some of the Trial restrictions need to be loosened, but no way in hell should the subscription model just be abolished.

It is laughable to think there is any way WOW will go free2play. It will never happen until subs drop below 500k.
None of the games that went f2p did so on purpose, they did it as a last gasp of breath. So far, I have only heard that DDO actually increased revenues, the rest just stopped the bleeding. The reason it worked for DDO is that DDO was the FIRST to take a AAA MMORPG and go F2P... it drew a lot of attention. But if you look at EQ2 and AOC, it did nothing to help them. AOC has less players now then when it was a sub game. SWTOR and TSW are both going F2P, but it is out of necessity rather than desire.
Any business LOVES the predictability of subscriptions. It allows you to plan development costs for the next 6 months or more. Blizzard is making a HUGE amount of very predictable income with WOW.. there is no way they would ever risk going f2p and live or die on the fact that enough people will want to buy the next ´store mount´..
I have a feeling that it will be a long time before we get another AAA mmorpg with a subscription model, but that is because wow dominates right now, not because the ´new´ subscription models are an evolution. GW2 would LOVE to be able to charge $15 per month, so would SWTOR and every other game.. but they can´t. The same way Ford would love to sell a Ford Focus for $100,000, but they can´t.
