I just heard a really weird sound. I think it was a dragon.
No, I fell out of the tree.
Sorry if it scared you.

You're cheating on Neon!
How is it cheating?
That doesn't make sense? If a girl hasn't accepted me yet, I'm STILL supposed to limit myself to just her?
Isn't that how things become obsessive and creepy?

Absence of evidence =/= evidence of absence. That's what we call a logical fallacy. It is, unfortunately, the most common logical fallacy used by atheists.
No, it's the most common logical fallacy used by people who aren't Atheists against Atheists.
We're not saying "There's no evidence it exists, thus, it cannot exist." We're saying "If there's no evidence it exists why the !@#$ are we giving the idea that it exists the time of day?"

No, it's the most common logical fallacy used by people who aren't Atheists against Atheists.
Nonsense. It's used too often as a catch-all argument against any sort of theism. Not by any atheists I've heard, and as a major atheist myself, I've heard a lot of them.
We're not saying "There's no evidence it exists, thus, it cannot exist." We're saying "If there's no evidence it exists why the !@#$ are we giving the idea that it exists the time of day?"
Because people have experienced whatever it is, and lack of scientific evidence does not mean it is a pointless subject. A world in which we only accept what we can touch and feel is a sad world indeed.Absence of evidence is absence of evidence. We could discuss the motivations of the Rainbow Fairy from Planet Pixie, but what basis does it have in reality if there's no evidence?
Bring some evidence and then there's something to talk about, but pointing at what we don't know and making sh*t up for what might be there without any evidence for it is just pointless.

And far more often as a counter-argument against Atheism. Take the portion you quoted.
Not really; there is little evidence to show that they do actually exist, and are
more likely
to be lies that people formulated to explain things that they didn't understand; for example a Manticore = Lion or a Centaur = Men riding Horses
He's not saying "There's no evidence for them, therefore they do not exist." He's saying "There's no evidence for them, so how about we come to a different perfectly logical conclusion that fits with our understanding of the natural world."
We're not saying "There's no evidence it exists, thus, it cannot exist." We're saying "If there's no evidence it exists why the !@#$ are we giving the idea that it exists the time of day?"

We can't touch Hawking Radiation, and yet it's there. A world in which people are too caught up in there childhood stories to realize how amazing the world is without any deities or supernatural forces is a sad world indeed.

I truly love how these types of discussions always devolve into 'one or the other is the only true right way'; since a world without mysteries, be they supernatural or natural, isn't much of a world.

At this point, I'm leaning towards a few possibilities which few are willing to accept.
1. There is nothing divine, everything has a logical explination. (Atheism, obviously the most accepted and the one I most back.)
2. All/most forms of the divine/supernatural/whatever and different interpritations of the same thing. (I think this would be the second most accepted. If there is divine, it makes the most sense to me.)
3. All/most forms of them co-exsist and are all true...

Atik, do you enjoy parroting things? As across multiple threads, all of those points have been raised by different users.

Absence of evidence =/= evidence of absence. That's what we call a logical fallacy. It is, unfortunately, the most common logical fallacy used by atheists.
That isn't a logical fallacy at all. If you don't have any credible reason to think that something exists, then why in the world would you live like it did?
An absence of evidence may not be a definitive evidence of absence, but to argue that we should behave as though such a thing
might
exist is literally asking us to accept as true all claims until they are proven false, just in case - and that's plain idiotic.
I have been shown no credible evidence that werewolves exist. Thus, I am not going to live my life as though they do. Replace the word "werewolves" with any other race/organization/person/place/thing that has been posited to exist, but is not proven to exist, and the semantic content is the same, and just as valid.
It holds true in science, as well - for instance, the Higgs-Boson particle, for all its play in hypotheses, hasn't been proven to exist yet. The difference here, though, is that no one is trying to tell me that I'll go to Hell, or torn to shreds by a werewolf under the full moon, for not accepting the Higgs-Boson particle as existing. :P
