They pay the exact same taxes you do.
But they get them back in the form of benefits.
I have also heard the idea of gay couples getting extra benefits for being gay. Gay marriage being leagalized I would be "meh" about, but THAT would piss me off.

Have a link for that?

Not immediately on hand. I have heard debates on the news and such about it.

Because there isn't any misleading propaganda circulating through the news regarding gay marriage! So something you heard once must be factually accurate!

Correcting myself here:
What I was thinking of involved ferderal employees recieving benefits for their same-sex partners to bring them up to the same as heterosexual couples.
I still hate marriege-based benefits... We have way too many as it is, and most of them are far too easy to take advantage of.

I don't see why you're complaining about equality, which is what it boils down to now that you've clarified. That's not 'extra benefits', that's the exact same as a heterosexual couple. Regardless of if you agree or disagree with marriage having financial perks, it should be agreed that couples should be treated equally, regardless of their sexual orientation.

Couples should be treated equally, regardless of orientation, true. They should be treated equally to Singles as well, though.
Post by
Adamsm
Not really, as a single doesn't have any dependents like a couple.

So you are saying it should be perfectly okay for one member of a couple to leech off the other, and for them to leech off government benefits?
Post by
Adamsm
No, I didn't say that. However, I have no issues with marriage, so I don't see it as leeching.
Post by
Atik
I personally do.
When there are no younger children to take care of, but one member works while the other sits at home. That seems like leeching...

And that's
not
true for many, many couples.

Guess it's good that the government doesn't think that way eh?
Post by
Atik
Why is it a good thing?
The couple is sitting there recieving money just because they are married. They may be contributing no more to society than one single person, as only one couple member may be working, and yet they recieve MORE money for NOTHING!
Post by
Adamsm
And people on welfare leech money from the government too.
Post by
Atik
I'm also anti-welfare for MANY reasons after seeing many people who are better off than myself for cheating the system.
But I won't get into that...
Post by
Adamsm
And all those single mothers! I mean, someone should do something about them leeching as well!
Post by
Atik
Single mothers need to pay for the children, so they are entitled to the money; as they can raise the children to be productive members of society.

I have a relative who makes 27,000 a year off SSI and many other benefits. All he does is fish, fish, and more fishing.

People who complain about welfare because of exploitation would sooner let the hungry starve than allow a few select people to get food they don't deserve.
