Hi,
Anyone else notice that the neutral auction house isnt used anymore?.
Im in a low pop PVP realm. and its constantly empty.. like i dont mean only a couple of pages of things, but actually 0 items total.
Think the cataclysm wiped out the auctioneers or something! joking
maybe blizzard should fix this some how?

there is no way for blizzard too fix it, cause its up to the players too fill it. seems like everyone is happy with their auctions of their faction spefic AH's.
that said on my server the neutral AH's are still in use, about as much as pre-cata. mostly filled with companion pets and random junk lowbies tend to put up for sale.
(PS: Med pop realm)

This, that's more or less what they are around for after all.

The faction only pets is all I've ever put into the neutrals to sell cross faction.

While it's not sanctioned by Blizzard, the only real purpose that the Neutral AH serves is a way to move non-soulbound items between friends or yourself on different factions. Atleast that's all I have ever seen people(including myself) seriously use it for. The cut that it takes is just too great to expect any really decent money to come from it. Have to markup 15% just to make what the item is worth initially.

Some people also use it for transferring faction specific pets, but TBH deathbeyond has the right of it.

Yeah I meant anything at all that doesn't soulbind on pickup. So any materials, pets, mounts, random crap at all. I used to move mad amounts of gems and tita-bars back in WotLK between my toons using the neutral AH and a realID friend, along with any variety of vanity pets between the two factions to get complete pet lists for my toons. I really wish they would drop the cut that it takes though. It would make it a viable way to trade between factions and would by large probably help alot of economy issues and make the whole realm seem like more of a community.

ive found a few glyphs on there once in a while, it net me about 300g... minus the one silver cost :)

Really the only way to fix it would be to add goblin auctioneers closer to faction cities and reduce the AH cut they take.
But honestly no one really used them in the first place so what's to fix?

Wait... people have used it for something other than trading faction pets?
pre-cata the neutral AH was perfect for buying green hill of strangelthorn pages, but since they changed that entire quest into finding 1 quest item (page 14), that use vanished.

You must be new to WoW. Neutral AH has pretty much always been dead.

Well when the neutral AH are put in out of the way locations..what would anyone expect.
Why they don't put one in the major cities is beyond me. This would be a great way to balance and strengthen the economy of low and uneven faction populations.

A friend of mine is making a fortune on the neutral AH on a uneven realm, simply because the alliance have no other options since the AH on alliance side is as active as the neutral one, if not less.
This means that the alliance pay 4-5 times MORE then, sadly would a increased supply (As in move the neutral to SW/Org) not fix it, since the demand simple is to low. It generally takes a while to sell items that would sell instantly on the Horde side.

So then it's good for your friend..he is making more money then he would selling it on his side. That means more gold for him. More gold made means more gold to spend thus a stronger economy.
As for the alliance they are getting access to material they desperately need. That is helping to secure progression in profession and/or gear leveling. A win-win situation.
As for paying more..well what's the point of gold if you don't spend it...especially these days when it is so easy to make.
Besides, did a pug ever ask anyone to post their gold amount. ;P

Exactly, it was good for Green Hills pages and I want to say there was one other quest item in that level range, an Ore of some kind. That was about it, other than trying to find Horde vendor pets and other rarer pets, or trading gear to a Horde.
