Best pvp healer class?

While i know that some seem to say that the best healer for a specific player is the class he enjoys the most, but i'm generally feeling the same on all characters at the moment, except the shaman since i feel i'm missing instants...
Anyway my question is which healer is best pvp wise overall? If we consider bg's, arena and possible arena combos...
For an example is that a disc priest has a fair amount of viable combos in 2's and 3's compared to example a pala... But the pala might be better i bg's, particular av and IoC...
I simply can't figure out which one to pick and I've got all 4 in the 54-80 range decked with heirlooms...

Throughout Cataclysm, Shaman has been at the top with Holydins at the bottom.

However, Holy Palas have been doing really well recently.

Shoot. Holydins were a huge pain in the rear at the beginning of cata with priest being the worse. Not sure anymore since I havent done any arenas this season and i have been focusing on my shaman for awhile now.

Indeed, crit has become one of our best stats now.

Throughout Cataclysm, Shaman has been at the top with Holydins at the bottom.
That seems odd seeing that the
statistics
says that the current order is Pala>Druid>Priest>Shammy. I am guessing that then is because the other two specs for a shaman is not worth its weight?
It kinda depends on what you're fighting, if it's a TSG a holy paladin would be better than a priest, if it's a RMP your paladin is screwed
Well obviously what you fight against matter as well, but since i do not have any influence on that, i do not consider that to be a relevant factor in my consideration for which class to choose from.
Currently I'm leaning towards Pallies, due to having more viable options. But druid also seems a viable option in that apartment. I'm currently thinking on if there is any viable spec from a shaman except Resto?

Paladins are much more popular than Shamans.

Priests are somewhat the same place as shamans according to Warcraft Census, though i do not know how reliable a source that is anymore?

Also if you factor in the fact the RMP has been viable in every season, to some extent, I would have to say that Priest would be your best bet for an always-viable class.
Thanks for a detailed and informed post. I hadn't thought of RMP and the history behind it, and that is a very good point in favor of the priest.

LOL well i play a holy pally, and in a bg, ooh maybe 1 game in the last 6 months i havent topped heals
but being a good pvp healer isint about max hp output, pretty much from what i can tell in 85 arena regardless of what kind if healer u are priest DOMINATE you and i mean serious ragdoll not just like oo theyre a little OP
any proper arena player (especially in smaller games) will advise u of the absolute HAXness of mana burn
Any proper arena player will advise you to use Line of Sight and your interrupts, because setting up Mana Burn doesn't happen against good players more than a couple of times.
...And topping heals in a battleground means nothing about class balance. For instance, Disc shields are ignored by statistics, while being a very important part of the spec.
What do you mean "Regardless of what healer you are"? You're horribly biased for being a Paladin, the arguably easiest class to lock down on mana burns. Druids shifted to cat/bear are completelly immune to it, and Shamans can practically completelly match you on cooldowns with Wind Shear and Grounding Totem. If, by then, you're not already out of LoS (Wind Shear one, 1.5s interrupted + 2.5s for the next cast, Ground second, 2.5 seconds for the next cast, Wind Shear off cooldown, 1.5 extra seconds with the priest spamming spells (meaning, standing -still-), and you relying on instants that do not hinder movement), your loss.
Yes, correct CC chains can lead to a few mana burns off, but it's not free to the priest himself, and you're making it sound like Mana Burn alone outclasses any other healer, which is the farthest possible from the truth.

Honestly it is whichever class u play. I play a priest and made it up to 1600 in Rated Battelgrounds pretty easy. No class can take me down singely. Even 2 enemies on me will have a hard time. And i can generally stall 3 or more for 30 seconds. My brother plays a holy paladin and he is near impossible to kill. Paladins have so many cooldowns they can use with such strong heals. That being said i know resto druids and hard to take down with roots and cyclone and hots/ travel form. I can't say to much for shamans but i think they would be the lowest on the "Totem" but have played with some very skilled players. So all in all i think every class would do well in rated battel grounds. Arena could be a different animal now becuase of LOS issues depending on areana.
