Norway also drew the ire of al Qaeda for publishing the controversial political cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed that appeared in a Danish newspaper and sparked outrage in the militant Islamic community.
Yep, that's what happens when you offend Islam, things happen.
Solution: send every Muslim back to their initial homelands.
On topic, this is a very tragic thing to behold. I mourn for those who lost their lives and were injured. My heart goes out to them.

It's always sad to me when someone's answer to horrible things that are done in the name of racial or religious intolerance, is more religious or racial intolerance. They really don't know how close their thinking is to the people they're upset at.

It's not sad at all when it's the truth. Radical islam in general is a poison to Europe.

Didn't that happen years ago?
As for the bombing, a friend of mine told me about it who lives 40 minutes away from where it happened. He said that Norway has done a lot for something like this to happen. Read: Helping people who need it but are opposed by extremists.

Radicalism is a poison to everywhere. Heck, in Northern Ireland the radicalism of a few loyalists and republicans has descended parts of the capital into complete chaos. You
cannot
logically blame all radicalism on Islamic extremists.
In addition to what Chels said, the Norwegian PM was due to give a speech at the youth camp, but he's been confirmed as alive and unharmed.

Right- and before that European countries colonized most of the Middle East and South Asia, and stole countless resources and passed and violently enforced laws to keep them from implementing an industial infrastructure. And before that European countries lead murderous crusades into the Middle East, slaughtering thousands, because they didn't want Muslims living in an area that was religiously significant to them.
The hate that many Radical Islamists have towards the west and Christianity in general didn't fall out of the sky. It's based on a history where for many years they were victimized by Europe. What people do now in the name of that injustice is horrible, unjustified and in no way related to the people who actually committed those crimes. But they justify it by lumping us all together as a group.
If your response, facesmasher, is to hate them as a group, and punish them all for the crimes of a few, then you have become exactly what you hate.

I agree. Domestic terrorism may be more likely.

Wait wait wait, it was us, Denmark that created those drawings. Why should Norway suffer for it? Stupid terrorists.

/mutters something profoundly racist about muslims.
In all seriousness, I do hope they find whoever was responsible and punish them to the fullest extent of the law.
/mutters something about communists.

Is there still Western Colonialism around? Serious question.
Commonwealth of Nations, 'nuff said.
There still are "Western" colonies across the globe, but the damage has already been done.

Bombings and shootings suck :(
I'm not a fan of extremism, in pretty much any form (I haven't been able to think of a form of extremism that wouldn't be bad yet) and I agree with everything ElhonnaDS has said so far.

True, but no one outside of Scandinavia can tell all of you people apart. That's always the case with places that are extremely close together.
It's like Dallas and Ft. Worth. Two different places, with different histories, city centers, suburbs, etc., but if I hadn't spent a year and a half dating a life long Ft. Worth resident I'd still just think DFW was the name of a suspiciously large airport in an otherwise unremarkable area. Scandinavia is just a bigger Dallas-Ft. Worth area.

I hate how everyone automatically assumes that this should have something to do with Islam and religious extremists. It's like there was no other kind of motive for terrorists anymore or something. I guess ten years of brainwashing by media had to have some effect.
