I don't think this falls under the definition of hypocritical. WoW is an MMO and these games need to give people something to do to make them subscribe long-term.
A problem with the genre generally is that it's difficult for people to group up when character advancement is level-based. Other games have used "mentor" systems to allow people of different levels to group up and play together but Blizzard, for the most part, has made it so that the levelling process is quick and relatively easy so that the majority of the interaction between players occurs at the level playing field of max level.
you may not like the system Blizzard has gone for but it makes sense.

No one is forcing you to do the Molten Front dailies. And the patterns from the Front are meant for those who don't raid; why shouldn't a casual get some good gear too?

It seems like the solution to your problem would be to... use the weapon from the raids? If it A) does not require weeks of grinding and B) is better, I struggle to see how you're being 'made' to grind a pattern for weeks.

I still haven't even done the MF entry quests. I've been to busy leveling new toons and dropping them upon starting Northrened.

I'm not sure how it's hypocritical- it seems like time consuming grinds have pretty much been the staple of WoW's existence since the beginning. You grind for rep, money, rare drops, alternate currencies, etc. It's been that way every expansion. Nothing's changed- if anything, this expac has been better so far. You think Firelands are bad- do you remember Argent Tournament with 14 mounts, 6 pets, tabards, flags, that pony for the squire, etc? And you had to keep grinding for the currency. With Firelands, you just have to finish unlocking everything, and you pay gold for whatever items you want.
I can understand that this kind of grinding might not appeal to people. I personally don't mind it, with a good playlist and vent going, and I think I only do a grind if I think the rewards are worth the work. But I can't understand someone thinking this is a new development in wow- it's pretty much business as usual.

Its not really a problem, just a complaint on my part. I don't raid anymore either for a number of reasons. Its not like getting these patterns is life or death to me, I just think Bliz took a step backward in how they are forcing the grind on people in order to get them.
Honestly, are they that much of a grind? It takes 32 days or something like that to be completely done with all 3 vendors (22ish days to get the BS vendor). Considering that many of the quests change every day.....and you are frequently opening up new quests during those 22 days.... it is hardly a grind at all.
Now lets talk raiding for the ´better´weapon. First off, you are assuming people are downing bosses every week, they are getting the drop they need AND they are winning the roll on the item. It takes 3 weeks of doing daily quests killing mobs with 75k health.. compared to killing raid bosses and then hoping for a drop and hoping to win the item.
I am guessing you are a very new player if you consider 22 days worth of rotating quests a ´grind´. Do some research on sithilis at lvl 60 for non-raiders.... This is definitely not a step backwards.. the fact is that in Wotlk and BC there were NO craftable weapons that were added to the game during a patch that did not require raiding. These weapons are exactly what the game needed.. something for non-raiders to do to advance their character without having to raid. Put that in perspective.. you are getting a higher ilvl item weapon from doing nothing but daily quests!

Eh, I think they need to massively boost the gold rewarded by those dailies so that we can again go back to making a living off dailies just like then so that the massive time sink gives more reward per quest on the way to the recipe carrot. There's gold sinks, and people are already hoarding massive amounts of gold anyway...let the peeps who aren't as good at the ah get some g the old way and let peeps stuck on seriously dead servers (with no ah economy) get a more normal amount of gold.

I'm familiar with Don Quixote, and the part about the windmills he thought were giants, although I never actually read the book. I got the reference immediately. I just haven't heard the expression used before.
