Kinda, I would say. You will be very squishy and people will just roflstomp you so you can't help your teammates. Also, MelonFruitGuy, full PvE gear burst doesn't work anymore. You are too squishy and do too little damage to keep up with someone in full PvP gear.

Yes, its wrong - pve gear is for pvp. However, it is also unavoidable, so while you want to get full pvp gear asap, there is no need to buy crafted(although it helps) or to tranform justice into honor. You do want to get rid of the pve gear asap, though, as I cant really believe youre doing fine with full pve.
Edit: what I mean by wrong is not the way youre supposed to play, not that its a capital sin.

It's your $15 a month you pay. Play the way you want.
except you're prolly ruining the game for the other X amount of people paying the same amount of money.

It's your money. If you wanna PvP in PvE gear. Do that. Will you ruin it for every other player in bg? No ofc not. Look at it this way. When you ding 85, and you decide that you wanna pvp, your gear suck. You would have to farm before you would get any PvP gear. When you ding you have no resilience at all so it's kinda the same thing as if you decide to PvP in PvE gear.
And if you find yourself not dying, I don't see a problem wearing PvE gear. To be fair, it 'often' gives more of a burst than any PvP gear would.
Hope you found my comment helpful - Cheerio

ABOUT AS WRONG AS YOU CAN BE.
I can't tell you the frustration level that this creates in smaller 10v10 BG for those of us that have laboriously worked on our PVP gear. EVERY toon can craft an initial set. Honor accumulates fast enough that it is easy to get 4-5-6 slots filled in a week. TB and WG pop every 2 hours and, especially, WG is worth hundreds of "free" honor.
Given that there is no excuse for not having PVP gear on. And it is important because other than progression raiding, PVP is about as close to a TEAM endeavor as this game creates. In a 10 having 1 more ultra squishy than the other is difficult to overcome. Being +2 in squishies is almost impossible. So you are essentially "wasting" 9 other people's time because YOU are too lazy to go get geared in a way that doesn't impinge upon others.
Frankly I HATE folks that do this. It is selfish, self centered, and ridiculously lazy.
Are you serious? Just because you play wow many hours a day, do you seriously expect people do it just as much? Some Rarely play, and when they do they, for obvious reasons, won't have just as much gear as you wan't them to have. You say it might take up to, and about a week to fill 4-6 slots. If you almost never play, that may take a while longer. Furthermore. What you're saying is that even though he has payed 12 euro a month to play the game, exactly the same as you pay, he can't do battlegrounds unless he equips his PvP gear. What you need to think about, is that even though he may walk around in PvE gear, chances are that someone from the opposite faction is running around in PvE gear as well. And mate, in the end. What are you going to do about it? You can't tell someone they can't do this, and can't do that because it's against your way of playing.
If I were you 'Rockprime' I would find a guild that is doing rated battlegrounds regularly and stay away from normal bg's, because you will always find someone in PvE gear.

I call BS.
TB - takes about 30 minutes and usually you get 500+ Honor (at least). Done 3 days and you have a piece
Crafted pieces - if you have worked at ALL on your professions then you should be able to spend an hour or so gathering and get 3-4 more pieces. I haven't tested but I would assume that 2 days of full dailes would yeild enough gold to buy mats at AH and allow you to get them. Lets say that you want full gems and enchantments - another 3 days.
Thus you SHOULD be Bloodthirsty with about an hour a day for a week.
Let me tell you what I do. And I am sure it pisses you off. I YELL in Battlegrounds about how selfish it is to go right into them without the prep. Your laziness is not an excuse for harming me.
I don't want this to be a discussion where we throw dirt at each other. You play your way, I play mine and thank god for our differences.

did you not understand anything Roackprime said? he's quit right, especially where he mentions team play. there is no reason at all to not at least have a crafted set of pvp gear. use the honor for the other slots that still have pve gear. at least that much. doing that and you can still 'play your way' while being an asset to your team.
no clue what your sentiment above is supposed to mean. maybe you're meaning to get the crafted set and while you might replace a ring first somebody else may get a trink? trying to find at least one connect with what you've said.
there is no excuse not to enter the bg's with at least a crafted set.
Cheers.
If he wanna do bg's in PvE gear, what's the problem? No more different than newly dinged 85's with no gear at all, I really don't see the issue here.

this conversation usually takes place on a losing side in a /bg with geared players yelling at undergeared players yelling at geared players etc etc.
quite annoying from a semi-geared, gives-a-crap player to see under/no-geared doesn't give-a-crap player
/unintelligible rant

Guess what, there's purchasable PVP gear. There is no excuse to start PvP'ing fulltime/semi seriously without at least buying a set of BoE blue gear.
