Highlander scrim today. I got my ass handed to me as a Sniper so badly. :(
Apparently we were mostly noobs (myself included) and the other team was a well-established competitive team though, so could be worse.

omg strange huntsman? =D
i'm so excited i can't wait to get a crate with it...hmmm if i can't get my hands on one how much metal you think it's worth? this is the only strange item i really want lol. i even have a name tag saved for it =x
on a different topic...this is gonna come out as a rant, but sometimes i don't understand these people. again i'm playing badwater on defense playing sniper with my huntsman =D. My team loses but not really that badly. The other team just kept pushing the cart a little at a time and finally made it. They had some good uber rushes and spies that destroyed the sentries and enabled their team to keep moving. I thought it was a good game. However, when we lose, half my team says something like...."it's cause we had too many spies and snipers." "too many spies and snipers on defense is bad" and then rage quit. the sad thing was the top 3 players were snipers and spies.
people never complain about your team having too many heavies or too many soldiers. But spies and snipers seem to get a lot of hate even when the players playing them are good...

The strange huntsman might be so expensive at the moment you don't even measure it in metal. I would it'll come down to 3-5 ref in a couple weeks, though.

I think it's 40. The crates are going to be about as expensive, though.
I'm thinking of getting a name/scrip tag combo for my Strange Axtinguisher:
The name would be Scumbag Axtinguisher. The 'scrip would be 'has 100% crit chance. Still crits less than medic melees.'
I don't know how many people would get it or actually find it funny, though.

Lol, I actually guessed Crate 40 would be the new Crate 30 (purely because having one every ten crates would make sense, in my opinion) and my friends said that was a stupid idea :D
However in this case I kind of wish I was wrong as I want all the Stranges from that crate (besides the Mantreads), though as I got a Crate 40 as a drop that compensates for it to an extent :)
The strange electro-sapper alone is currently worth like 1 to 1.5 buds (roughly 20 to 30 keys). I still haven't decided whether or not I should wait for the new Salvaged Crate (which will probably be 50) to come out and the price of this Crate/Stranges to increase before selling it or sell it now as the prices are currently so inflated, let alone whether or not I will uncrate it at some point to try and get a valuable Strange.
Also, Pezz, it is unlikely the Strange Huntsman will go that low due to Crate 40 being such a rare drop and the fact tons of people want that particular strange. As I said above, Crate 40 is the new Crate 30. The Strange Machina and Kritzkrieg went to about 8 and 5 keys respectively when they were at their lowest, now they're both worth over ten.
Crates aside, what do you all think is the best pyro secondary? I've been using the Manmelter for a while now and I like it a lot more than all the other secondaries, besides the Reserve Shooter which I use for my airblasting loadout.

Reserve shooter for sure.
The flare gun is actually quite powerful, if you have good aim. Puff and sting also works with the flare gun, rather than the axtinguisher.

I used to use the Flare Gun, but the fact the Manmelter flares fly so much faster and you can extinguish teammates (especially useful for keeping friendly medics that are healing you alive) for crits makes it so much more appealing to me.
I preferred the Detonater to the Flare Gun before the Manmelter came out, as the ability to detonate the flare in mid-flight is very useful.

It still gives mini-crit though.
Either way I'd recommend the Manmelter above all the other flare guns, it is fantastic weapon and despite the fact I generally had better aim than most when using the normal flare gun and detonater the added speed defintely made a noticeable difference in regards to my damage output at long range.

I like the detonator the most. I find i always switch back to it.
when i'm using the phlog even though i can't extinguish teammates sometimes i'll detonate it perfectly and hit 2-3 enemies and my mmmph will charge almost instantly. Or sometimes i'll shoot it at a corner or window and detonate it, in hopes for a lucky hit on a sniper or something =)
Also, sometimes i'll want to do a boosted jump to try get to a area to flank or something.
although if i use anything else it's the man melter.
as far as the s huntsman goes...i haven't even found anyone willing to trade crate 40 or the s huntsman. And my own drops have been pretty unlucky =( i try to spam atleast once per round. sometimes you get lucky and someone that doesn't realize the value of the crate and doesn't buy keys will trade you relatively cheap. I found a name tag last week so i'm hoping i get one heh. not sure what to name it though :(

The flare gun is the generally accepted comp tf2 secondary. It does almost as much damage as a dead-on Reserve Shooter hit, but as far as I know it replaces the reduced damage Degreaser afterburn with normal afterburn, which probably means it outdamages the reserve shooter against targets that don't get put out. Plus it's obviously more damage at long range.
Personally I use the reserve shooter. It's basically
the
anti-meta game weapon against other pyros. As long as you keep them out of flamethrower range it's your reserve shooter against their incapable-of-mini-crits-against-you flare gun. Aside from that there are always those occasional instances where you just really want to have a shotgun handy and don't care if it's only got three rounds in it at a time.

And woohaa, are you trying to buy one of the two? The strange huntsman is worth like 1.5 to 2 buds at the moment as I said earlier, so its pretty expensive.
Also, I bought a key off a friend and uncrated a Strange Sapper. Price is currently going down though, so I'll probably wait until Crate 50 comes out before selling it (unless I get a good deal now).
Even if I had uncrated something not so valuable, such as the Mantreads, it would still have given a couple of keys which could be used to buy the other Stranges from that crate when they are cheaper, either for keeping or reselling at a later point.
In regards to Pyro weapons, I personally still prefer the Manmelter as I tend to get a lot of hits in (and when coupled with the phlogstinator, the mmmph bar fills pretty fast when you have crits built up from extinguishing teammates).
I recently played a few rounds of DeGroot Keep, using the Backscratcher as a melee weapon, I have to say it is quite frankly amazing. It is still not good when you are playing with a medic, at least in normal mode that is, but for going solo it is fantastic (especially with the small health kits dropped by each players in medieval mode, plus the 25% extra damage the weapon deals).
Otherwise I generally use the Powerjack, mostly with the backburner when I am focusing on ambushes; the Axtinguisher, which I generally couple with the degreaser and airblasting people into corners/against walls, or the Third Degree, which I tend to use when paired with a medic and fighting against enemy medic teams.

I just looked at my backpack - and I'm surprised at how these got into my inventory without me recalling how.
On a related note - my backpack is also full, so if you need a particular item that you want to play with, and you find me having duplicates of it - feel free to give me a call.

Technically i'm just after the S huntsman. The huntsman and the half-zatoichi are the only 2 strange items i want.
I only play other classes if the team needs me to play it.
