Before we begin
: these threads do no tie into my expansions: Think of this as a cleaner slate where a chance to try again is at my fingertips.
Let’s pretend that all hope is failing:
your people are at the brink of extinction, your enemies seem to show no mercy (not that your people would understand the concept anyway) and worst yet, your ancestral homelands are not even yours.
This is the dire fate of the Quilboar, who barely hold their grip on the Southern Barrens.
That is all about to change and all it took was a whisper, a snort, and an alluded revelation. The presence of Agamaggan has been felt by many, and rumors spread quickly! Quilboar band together, many claiming that their god weeps for the erroneous actions his children are taking to maintain themselves.
The Quilboar have been pacifying slightly in the fall of the Old Crone Charlga and her pact with the Scourge, whom the Quilboar now loathe on a level close to the Tauren and Centaurs. Bristlebacks and Razorfens have culminated together to forge a new city, though some doubt that the voice and wisdom they received was from the boar god himself.
Apparently, his people were not the only ones who heard his message, for some of his oldest allies received word of his return as well, and a meeting between Tyrande and many Quilboar tribe leaders has led to friendlier terms, and strange shifts in culture. Women were allowed to show their face, and wield any weapon they wish; many are just as capable as the men folk, and even the frailer children have been given a chance, many proving to be vital scouts and medical healers. The elderly still won’t let go of the idea of a ritual death, but hints of younger generations possibly reaching maximum age seem to be coming about.
When Varian heard of the plight of the Quilboar, he saw a great advantage: an enemy of orc, undead and Tauren with a close vantage point from which one could keep tabs or attack those he still can’t trust. His offering of well forged weaponry was met with respect from the new leaders, though some still hold discontent for new ideals and cling to traditions and xenophobia.
Though uneasy, the newly formed Freethorns have rebuilt the Razorfen capitols and have joined the Alliance with the blessings of their father Agammagan.
Classes:
Death Knight, Warrior, Hunter, Rogue, Shaman, Paladin, Druid, Mage, Warlock
Death Knight
: During the reign of the crone, many Quilboar were ripe for the taking. Ruthless, fearless, tactical, a perfect soldier for the Lich King’s army!
Warrior
: Without a doubt, all Quilboar have combat knowledge.
Hunter
: Many Quilboars tame boars, but some true radicals will tame strange beasts now such as Wind Serpents and Tallstriders due to their proximity.
Rogue
: Sappin’ your sentries? Quilboars have been adapted for terror tactics due to centuries of falling lands. The Quilboar are adept at tactical assassinations, though most prefer the thrill of actual combat.
Shaman
: Almost too staple, Shamanism is said to be a true journey for those who really want to get closer to Agammagan.
Paladin
: As strange as it is, Agammagan’s visions have, as some claim, spoke highly of a ‘Holy Light’ and some claim that this is the true path to the true god of boars himself. They lack a priesthood, for no respectable Quilboar would dare sit at the back of combat, let alone be seen wielding sacred magics in his name.
Mage
: The path of the physically frail. Quilboar society shuns Mages not due to corruption, but their lack of combat prowess. Many mages tend to struggle with incantations, some owing it to their snouts, but many would rather not throw their lives away, as Ag himself apparently frowns on such wasted life.
Druid
: With nature and plants easily bent to their will, and a great boar ‘animal god,’ Quilboar druids tend to be labeled as thornweaver ‘shamans’ though their powers tend to vary. With honing from the Night Elves, Quilboars may one day have some of the greatest Arch-druids that Azeroth may ever know.
Warlock
: A sort of oddity, Quilboar detest the demons that slew their god! However, with orcs and corruption seeping into their land, many Quilboar have fallen prey to darker desires. The claim is that these Quilboar are victims of corruption, a ruse that seems to have worked on all the political forces.
Quilboars cannot be
Priests
. Priests are mostly too foreign a concept of non-combative magic mixed with a lack of elemental might.
Racials:
Summon Spirit Pig
– (Active)
Every Quilboar has a bonded Spirit Pig who can serve from somewhere beyond. A Spirit pig is not very strong in combat and can only stay on this plane for about 2 minutes. Spirit Pigs can fight and act like as rely between your bank
.
Unlike Hobgoblins, they have limited carriage to your bank of 4 + 1/20 Levels bagslots.
Once killed or unsummoned, your items will enter your bank. If no room is available, you’ll receive it by mail. Spirit Pigs are weak statistically, but an extra shield never hurt. (20 minute cooldown)
Quill Skin
– (Active)
3% of damage is lashed back at the target from thorns that will even fly distances to far off enemies. This damage can never be what outright kills an enemy.
Lasts 15 Seconds and has a 3 minute cooldown.
Cry For Vengeance
– (Passive)
The warcries of the Quilboar as they rage against those who oppose them mixed with their newfound hope grants them 4% more damage.
Unfortunately, if silenced for any amount of time, the effect will be lost for the silence’s duration + 90 seconds.
Agammagon’s Grace
– (Passive)
Due to intervention from beyond, Quilboar who die suffer 1% less durability.
Note:
Doesn’t affect the Spirit Healer’s revival, only the on death effect.
Tangled Living
– (Passive) Living amongst roots and brambles and walking on them constantly, it is difficult to ensnare a Quilboar or to hinder his movement speed:
15% resistance to roots and slows
(Include back attack dazes)
Language: Snort-talk
History: Though said to be without their own language, most outsiders cannot grasp the verbal intricacies of Snort-talk. The language is actually rather new: about 200 years old at most, and was developed as a gruntal and snort noised code for on battle tactics by one warparty. It’s success led to its spread… it is not well documented that for a time, Quilboar had EVEN LESS land than they did before the Orcs arrived, but this new secret communication method helped the already tactically advanced Quilboars become even more masterful at tactics, even deceiving their enemies with on the fly combat changes. Quilboars will still use common, but truly confidential words will be coded in Snort-talk.
Capitol:
Freeblood Kraul
– Built over the once destroyed Razorfen Downs and Razorfen Kraul, the only remaining strongholds they still held, the Quilboar have carved a society that still suffers from the threat of the Horde, though their close proximity to Theramore does mitigate attacks somewhat.
Racial Leader:
Up for Election
– Taking a governmental path akin to a reformed Democratic union, many prominent Quilboars are vying to be leaders of their people, campaigning for issues such as spirituality, terrorist attacks, and new tax issues… anyone getting a sense of
Déjà vu
? In any case, you’ll find that you can do quests for the campaigning parties as a source of leveling experience and quest rewards.
Doomed Downs
- This is the remnants of the Scourge Controlled Razorfen Downs. Still the same instance with a new name, there are actually new, quicker ways to get here for both Faction youngster looking for their first piece of L40 gear. This place is mostly unchanged, for the undead here seem to be held by a mysterious force, maybe even the new Lich King... foreshadowing?

The Political parties of Freeblood Kraul engage in non-violent debates about the issues they stand behind.
The Candidates:
Khastis
- Before the whisper of the god, Khastis had many of the qualities of a benevolent Knight Leader: he offered his enemies a chance to live if they'd join his warband, and as his prisoners, he treated them well, and would take the forefront for them if needed.
Amongst other Quilboars, he was known as the Mongrel Master due to the variety of his warband. One amongst his captured was a Paladin from Theramore. Khastis found him to be very intriguing for he fought like a warrior yet wielded healing warmth. Because of this intrigue, Khastis asked to learn more, and decided to take an excursion to the place where most Paladins converged: Stormwind. Within the Cathedral of light, he learned many new fighting styles and tampered with light, yet found it would be a sacrilege against Ag (typing it out in full every time is getting tedious!) so he hesitated. When Agammagan returned to him and did not frown on his desire and devotion to light, he found a new world that he could open up to his people.
Like all religions, change was seen with dissatisfaction, but the Quilboar don't realize how influential this pilgrammage was in getting Varian Wrynn to bring treaties and commaradarie. Khastis is the underdog politician whose name is besmirched by his enemies for betraying the god they love, but thinkers and wielders of light still feel the love of their father channelled through their new light powers.
Many of Khastis war party easily converted and are currently the Paladin trainers. Unlike other Alliance races, Paladins are shunned as disgusting even more than the Arcane, who they see as just the path of weaklings.
Khastis's party is known as the Mongrowth and wishes to make strong trade alliances with other races as vast and as different as Naga, Pandaren and Gnolls. This is met with discontent by most traditionalists, who still are vast.
Zaqara
- Zaqara grew up hiding her gender identity, wanting to fight on the front lines! She proved swifter than her male counterparts though not s brutal in his outward force. Zaqara is popular amongst women who want more and more rights until they can equate with men, but males who were shunned to die for weakness also support her. Many mages and druids by association of physical frailty tend to favor her.
Zaqara sees Khastis as a threat because she's sure that if he lost all support, most would flock to her due to her notion of change being appealing as well.
Rez Tootzwir
- Heavily a traditional man! His ideas stem on returning to the way things have been for milleniums: women behind shawls, men on the battlefield, kill weak babies (let's hope this is as close as we'll ever get to abortion issues in WoW,) and have the elderly suicide themselves.
He is... popular amongst the older men and successful warriors. By Quilboar terms, he has a lot of followers therefore. Rez dislikes both of the other candidates because new ideas destroy tradition and changes the balance of power. He mostly battles their stances with lies, and is very insecure. He is also, so it is claimed, a nephew of the recent Crone Charlga but refuses to believe that since being related to a woman in charge he feels would besmirch his image.
On Paladins:
There may be a reason that Agammagan is trying to bring Knighthood upon his children, and it might be an agenda, though a noble and well intended one: Smite the legion. Most Quilboar have little experience actually dealing with the legion, but know well the values of Holy Light against the undead. More knowledge reveals there may be certain similarities that lets light destroy demons as well, but most refuse to break certain traditions.
On Rogues:
Strangely, Rogues tend to stay away from commitment, and perform more mercernarial work in tandem with different Quilboar warbands based on mutual needs. Often, in a day when money was little, many Rogues would do what they thought would help their fellow Quilboar pull through dark times.
Nowadays, they are the least concerned with government, mostly because the shadows they fight behind tend to have little effect on or from it as they continue to terrorize Orc, Tauren and Centaur.
There are still unaffiliated Quilboar that roam the land, proclaiming the Alliance as a foolish endeavor and tend to outright attack Alliance settlements like Bael'Modan deliberately to send a bad message. The Alliance are smart enough to understand the reasons for the actions and are confident that the Dwarves and Freebloods will sort this mess out on their own.
The starting zones for the Freebloods is hidden within the ravine where the Freeblood begin. There is actually an open area in Razorfen Downs near where the Doomed Downs are allowing for the original L40 instance to be used. The whole area has been redesigned but is relatively unravaged by Deathwing.
Husken Valley
is their 1-10/12 zone. Here young blood will learn to fight on whatever path they choose. The Quilboar NPCs will treat you to the intrigue of the political strife that is happening within the city.
You also learn about the Alliance that you have joined and get different views. Of course, there are plenty of gather and hunting quests and even a small outcropping of zombies and skeletons to slay. I wonder if there'll be any boars to slay... NAH!
The beasts here are: Boars (GASP,) Scorpions, Bats and Raptors.
There are rumors of Troll Bat Riders and Goblin Sappers trying to dig their way into Freeblood Kraul and cause trouble. We can't let that happen, now can we?
To the Early 20's, the
Southern Barrens
are somewhat changed, and orcish outposts threaten your land and Camp Taurajo is said to be in the process of rebuilding somewhat south of where it was once destroyed. Clearly this is not a good sign.
You'll find Dwarves here as well to tell you about the troubles within Bael'Modan. You can help them to get good rep with Ironforge.
Then of course there's the faction of Quilboar who see the Alliance as a weak concept and will be amongst the area across the street... almost literally.
Tauren Kodo trails can also be ambushed as well... it's just another day of destruction!

Death Knights will never be playable because they all follow Ner'... wait a second! What?
As you can see, all you need is a little Deus Ex Machina. I'm sure that the Orc hating human leader would love to have more orc hating allies if he can civilize them and keep them right on top of Orc territory.

You don't lose the instances. Then again, we shouldn't really have most of the instances we still do as unaltered as most still are. Scarlets? RFD still under Scourge? Let alone the Quilboar still being allied by something that is (as far as the world knows) disbanned.
All we'd need is Agammagan to step in... a lore based event or two and some Deus ex Machina...
Agammagan did mention he wanted to free his people and return them to less savage pasts. Furthermore, there is no true leader yet. Distrust is high after the last one corrupted their race, and while it wasn't done benevolently, most are like: "I want more options!"
As for Paladin without Priest... because there's no rule that says there must be. A death Knight is a warrior necromancer type hybrid but nobody has Necromancers. Then again, I'm not supporting Undead Paladins... untainted Pigmen gaining holy fervor with the aid of their god? Pishtosh!
Okay, that was a bit Ad Hominoidal... but still! We need to even out numbers with the Horde and their naga equivalent. The only class I could see going for balance was Priest. There are too many marauders to choose rogues and ditching warlock would give a 2 lock advantage for the Horde. NOT giving Paladin would've hurt balance further. Admittedly, mage COULD have gone, but Mage lore supports the idea of 'weaklings' who want to use elemental magic but aren't fit to be shamanistic.
I have a feeling all faiths are interconnected in some way shape or form... but that's for another thread.
The instances can easily be kept. After all, does anyone even walk to an instance any more? Good luck getting your Alliance into RFC without the group finder! I suppose though that there could still be doubters who feel animosity to the new Freeblood.
Of course, I never said it was a complete city. It's more like an outpost for Alliance players.
I need more people responding...
