Pezz or Oni....One of you top end healers, can you please give me some insight on weighting for Healing gear? I just started gearing up for the guild and want to do some shopping by item to see where I need to go for gearing up next.
As a side note, Mr Robot has me reforging everything into Hit/Mastery from Crit/Spirit.... Again new to heals, is this correct? I have been pretty satisfied with Mr. Robot on tanking, but i am not so sure on Healing.
Thanks
It kinda sounds like AskMrRobot.com is thinking you want help with a Prot or Ret spec... make sure that Holy is selected over on the left column. Hit is a waste for Holy. Spirit gives you Hit, via one of your talents.
As far as stat weights, AskMrRobot.com tends to have the latest information on the stat-weights which the eggheads have come up with for the "best" mix at the present time.
Int is always your best stat. Next, Spirit is important for regen, but is "wasted" much of the time if you're doing just fine on mana. (Personally, I go for a bit more Spirit on all my healing classes, because I like being able to pull it out when the proverbial feces hits the rotor blades) Haste is still your best non-Int/Spirit secondary stat, followed by Mastery/Crit. Mastery used to be utterly worthless, but now is useful enough that you don't have to hate it. Crit, on the other hand, helps to proc Conviction (a MUST-have talent) so that your heals are bigger. And, with patch 4.2, critted-heals now do 200% the healing they would have done normally. They only used to do 150%. I still don't like "relying" on crits, because crits are, by definition, random and unreliable. But it's still nice to have them happening a certain amount of the time.
There's really no one way to do it anymore for healing specs. Just, what works. Back in WotLK, it was hard and fast, and if you diverged from what people at EJ and other sources put out, you were ridiculed. There is a lot more variance allowed for what your personal style of healing is. It's the results which count most.
Like I said, I go for more spirit than many others do. I also go for more haste... I always want more haste. It means my heals go off faster. It means I can get more heals out to people. It means I can manage to toss a Judgement in, almost every time it's on cooldown, and keep the mana flowing in. (By comparison, the current pro-crit/anti-haste approach to Retribution Pallies is understood, but I really get annoyed doing it, because I feel I could walk away and make a sandwich between using different abilities.)

Spirit is still on top as far as I'm concerned. That'll change when I can spend a whole fight using nothing but DL, HR, and WoG (And various CDs, judgement, etc., of course).

Wow, someone who actually grabs more Spirit than I do? Unheard of!
And does that include not using Divine Plea or Trinkets?

No. It includes trinkets on cooldown and Divine Plea used sensibly but as close to cooldown as possible.

Well Jaws is the best trinket so that should mean something. :) But pezz is probably right where just like Cata, raids aren't wiping out because healers are running out of mana but the raid isn't doing the fight right and taking extra/lethal damage that is wasting time and GCD more than mana. If the raid isn't doing the fight correctly, everyone dies before mana becomes an issue.
But this topic does remind me that I've gotten concerned about my mana levels but not actually gone out of mana except those very early fights.

I'd say raids aren't wiping because of healer mana issues only because healers can fine tune their mana usage so much better, not because we can all stop stacking regen stats now. There've been times where we've not done enough healing to keep up, and I COULD have done more, but didn't have the mana to do so. Technically, I didn't run out of mana before the fight ended, but my mana is still ultimately why we wiped.

I getcha. I stack enough so that I can handle it when Bad Things happen. In an optimal boss fight -- Magmaw, which I've done forever now -- I will often end with half of my mana bar. I like being ready to dish out the healspam when I have to, if something unforeseen occurs, and possibly save the day. I've had situatiions where I was the only healer (of three) left standing and finished the last 1/3 of the fight. Barely. Last week when we downed Cho, I had started pacing my heals, and using more efficient heals, to the point that I had a full mana bar when we began burn-phase. I just try not to stack regen to the point that it's gimping my output... but I very much like my mana regen. And I doubt if I'll ever be using an output trinket instead of a regen trinket. I want mana to heal... pretty procs are nice, but not at the cost of my regen. They usually only give you an additional 2-3% healing anyway... It's nice that they tend to autotarget people who need healing, but I prefer controlling my heals directly. I don't go on autopilot.

Here is my take on Holy healing so far. I have not healed any raids yet but I have healed almost all heroics. Pali Holy healing is at the best it’s ever been. The only thing with this class is that it’s immensely gear dependent
.
When healing all heroics I almost never go under 40k mana out of 92k mana that I have. Its all about setting up your UI correctly so that you ALWAYS use Judgment and Holy Shock on cool down. If you consistently use those two abilities on cooldown, you will almost always have close to 75% mana on boss fights. Using Holy Light, Divine Light and holy power the appropriate ways is very important.
I have played all the healing classes and for the fun and survivability of the Holy Pali there is no other. With the addition of Holy Radiance we are a very competitive healers.
Please forgive the horrible writing I suck at it.
