Serpent Sting and Haste

I was sitting around and realized that Serpent Sting isn't affected by Haste like all other DoT's from each respective class. I made the conclusion that it was because we can automatically refresh it through miscellaneous abilities in each spec i.e. CoS/CS. I'd like a bit more explanation whether my theory is right or wrong.

Your theory makes no sense whatsoever because other classes have a similar mechanic that allows them to reapply their main DoT automatically in their rotation (i.e. Haunt refreshes Corruption for Affliction Warlocks and Mind Flay refreshes Shadow Word:Pain for Shadow Priests). And both these
spells
are affected by Haste. If for example the DoT will deal damage every 3 seconds without factoring Haste but the caster has 20% Haste, it will instead deal damage every 2.4 seconds. When the DoT is refreshed it will still deal damage 2.4 seconds after the last tick.
You are correct, however, that Serpent Sting does not work that way. Physical Attacks such as bleeds are not affected by Haste. Serpent Sting is a bit of a special case. It deals Nature damage, so that's
magic
damage, but it is classified as a physical ability as it uses your physical stats (AP and Phys. Hit and Crit).

Ah ok. That makes sense. Was just wondering why Hunters didn't benefit from haste like other casters' DoT's.
