Ah,I just remembered why I stopped posting here.
Ha! Everyone likes to play mod at some point.
But seriously, the first comment summed it up for me:
1.5 million want to play an MMO for free!
Unprecedented!
Of course the actual number of subscribers will go down. A lot of those are just looking for a quality game to play for free. It is a good sign, but I never thought that SW:TOR was going to fall flat. There's too much work going into it for it to be a crappy game that will barely be hanging in there. Stellar? Possibly. They wouldn't go through with it if they thought only a handful of people would play it.

I have high hopes for TOR - not because it's a Star Wars game, but because it's an MMO in the science fiction genre. I've always preferred sci-fi to fantasy in terms of movies and books, but the few sci-fi MMOs I've tried have fallen pretty flat.
I'd rather Bioware worked on an MMO-based (or at least multi-player) Mass Effect. :P But TOR will do - as long as they make sure George Lucas isn't allowed anywhere near it.
I'll take one Star Wars game, hold the midi-chlorians please.

God damn that would be so cool. I would totally play a Turian Vanguard.
Anyway, I am pretty hyped up for SW:TOR. Hope I'll get into the beta as well. But I still think its gonna be Jedi's and Siths everywhere, with a few weirdo Boba Fett fans playing the bounty hunters here and there.

I'd probably prefer a Mass Effect MMO to a Star Wars one, but I'm excited about SWTOR. Not because it's star wars, but because it's Bioware. I trust them to tell a good story, and to write great dialogue.

1.5 mill testers, not bad. Too bad 1, 490, 999 will just be there for bragging rights / free trial of the game and not to provide any useful feedback other than "X Doesn't work!"
That's a bit of an exaggeration. If I had to guess how many were there for the free play, I'd guess around 500,000 roughly. But still, that's quite a bit of people testing.

knowing my luck, I wont get a beta invite, but im still hoping for an open beta stress test later on.

The test for an MMO isn't getting themselves hyped and people signing up, it's keeping these people playing for more than a month.
