Thing is, many people obtain pirated games/movies/music because they can, even though they would have bought it if they had to. If it was not widely available on the Internet, many people would buy it instead. But that's beside the point.
Anyway just a question; if there is a $60 game in the store, and you steal it, how much money have you (technically) stolen, would you say?
If there is a $60 box with a disc that contains a code with which you can download the very same game directly from the internet, how much money have you stolen?

This is some serious business here.
Whether or not they succeed in hacking governments (and I don't expect them to succeed in much), this is going to mean a ton of legislation regarding the internet.
This may just be the start of some very scary %^&*.

My thoughts exactly. They need to stop this, right now; before it does more harm. I'm all for demanding justice and shizzle, but what they're doing really isn't the way to go about it.

It's pretty much to worst way to go about it.
Either you get Big Brother or you get total anarchy. Neither one of those sound very appealing.

Well Sony deserved it, and if governments can't see that and arrest those who enacted true justice, then so be it. If the governments and corporations would leave them alone this wouldn't have started to begin with. I don't think they should be doing it this way, but I can say that they did warn everyone. It will just suck when the government starts regulating the internet after this.

Or you get people protesting against anonymous, forcing them to stop.
Not very likely, though.

Yeah... Right. Am I paranoid for actually seeing a scenario where something like that might happen?

Not very likely, though.Even if Anon/Lulz stop, once the can of worms has been opened, you can't put the lid on it. If the governments of the world believe that the internet presents a threat to their stability, they will do what the can to control them out of simple self-preservationism. Think of the Patriot Act. They believed there was an internal threat, and they did not hesitate to resort to drastic measures to deal with it.

The guy was a thief....and those hackers? They are just criminals as well, not heroes, not rebels, just &*!@ing morons without a clue about how much @#$% they are going to cause with this idiocy. If they are lucky, they'll be caught and given cushy government jobs...if they aren't lucky, they'll be arrested....and if they are really unlucky, they'll be caught by the government and dropped into a deep dark hole somewhere for terrorism charges.
Seriously; they aren't Robin Hood, they are just immature little brats who think they are smart.

E: Adams, I agree completely.

Luckily, they haven't blown anything up.
Yet.
I just hope governments won't treat this as seriously as they did with that which ended in the Patriot Act. They
shouldn't
, but their idiocy surprise me at times.

Heh, what can I say: These dip*!@#s made it so that my personal time, in their grand desire to 'mess with Sony, and make them look bad' was interrupted; I'm still trying to add my new DLC to my PSP but because of the issues I'm not able to; yeah, Lulzsec and the rest of the morons only affect the 'big companies'; hell with that noise.
