It took me awhile to figure this out when I first started healing, and I've had this macro saved ever since and I use it on just about every friendly spell on every character. Can't imagine healing without it.

What does the separate conditional do?
In each conditional block, if you don't specify
@
(or
target=
, which
@
is an alias for), it defaults to the unit
target
, which is whatever you have targeted. So,
is the same as
or
.
I would guess that the @targettarget casts the spell at the bosses target and the last would target the nearest player if none of the other conditionals were active?
targettarget
is specifically the target of your target. So, if you have a DPS targeted, it's whatever they're targeting. If you have a tank targeted, it's what they're tanking. If you have the boss targeted, it's whatever it has aggro on (hopefully the tank).
player
is you, always you. You see it in these macros as a "default" thing to do. If none of the other conditions pass, then the spell heals you.
I use a variant of this without the targettarget part. I'd rather just target what I want to heal.

Also,

and
harm
imply exists, so it's redundant to specify them both together. Also,
nodead
is useful so you don't try to heal dead things.
Again thanks I'm just trying to figure out the programing syntax so I can come up with my own. :)
