but male to female just doesn't make that much sense.
To you. That's the problem, you're pressing your opinion as if it is fact.
Also, it makes me uneasy.
Guys, it's making him uneasy. Let's go kill all trans people so he can have minor peace of mind.
Then explain. Other than "I'm trapped in the wrong body". What is wrong with accepting one's body? I'm sure if I told people that I wanted implants to increase my height because I felt too short, I would get some dirty looks.
Also, I don't get where you make the jump from me being personally uncomfortable around them (honesty is so bad huh?) to you thinking I approve of killing them?

Because to those who undergo transgenderism, it's literally that their brains are the opposite gender; they don't see themselves as their gender and they identify more with the opposite one.
But again, Why does it make you uneasy? Has one ever hit on you? Attempted to pick you up? Why in the world would you care enough to be uneasy about something that someone else chooses to do when they aren't hurting anyone?

Already said, it is just an instinct.

Good question!
I am pretty interested in this issue, because I have a number of trans friends. I did some research.
Thing one: Male and female brains are noticably distinct. If you give a doctor who's studied the field a pair of brains to dissect, one male and one female, the doctor will be able to tell you which one is which with very high accuracy, without needing to look for Y chromosomes. There are a number of statistically significant differences. Nothing huge, but enough that you can consistently tell them apart.
Thing two: So far as we know, human awareness and identity reside in the brain. It is your brain that has a sense of "self". Your brain's cognitive functions are in general biological.
Thing three: Transgendered peoples' brains are, quite consistently, physically consistent with the gender they identify as.
Conclusion: Gender identity is a biological trait which is physically present in the brain. It is not a matter of accepting or not accepting your body; it is a matter of being your brain. As long as your consciousness is a side-effect of the biological happenings in a brain, you are going to have a sense of self which is driven by the characteristics of that brain.
The scientific answer is that they're right, you're wrong; they are correctly reporting the biological qualities of the thing which actually has a sense of identity, you are guessing incorrectly based on the biological qualities of a thing which does not have a sense of identity.

Sarcasm, good sir.

I used to find it funny, how many people assume that I am a guy when interacting with me in WoW. I guess the numbers speak for themselves, though- they're making the more likely assumption. When I first met my boyfriend, and I told him I played wow, we traded armory links. He said he expected me to be a level 37 hunter with intel mail and 100 vanity pets, and then it turned out I had cleared more hard modes that ex-pac than he had.

I lol'd.
It's pretty true most of the time though, most players you meet are guys and the girls you do meet, tend to fit that description, albeit maybe to a lesser extent ;)

How is it a cop out? It is true. Sure, I could condition myself to be more accepting on an instinctual level, but why should I do all the work? To be honest, gays could just as easily turn their "gay" down a notch
Turn their "gay" down a notch?
Not every homosexual is effeminate. Depending on where you live, I'd be willing to bet that you live near or work with men and women who are homosexual, and you have no idea - because
you cannot tell that someone is homosexual
solely by looking at them.
Now, if we're talking about public affection - if two men kiss in public, and you ask that they not do it, then they have every right to ask that a heterosexual couple
also
not kiss in public.
The reason that "you should do all the work" is because the problem is
yours
. It is with your perception and your reaction to it; the problem is not with the event that triggers that reaction.
Anyways, I don't believe a "tranny" gene exists. I do believe there is something that makes you biologically gay, but I don't think there is anything that makes you biologically a different sex, otherwise you would be the other sex.
As seebs pointed out, there is not a tranny gene, but a complete different layout of the brain. A transgendered person's brain is literally the opposite sex of body in which it resides.
I can't see any reason why a man needs to become a woman. It just doesn't make sense. What is wrong with being a gay man to you so much that you have to have yourself chopped up down there?
I doesn't make sense to you, because you appear to be ignorant of the science behind the topic. I'm not using ignorant as an insult, by the way - it means that you are not educated on the topic (as is evidenced by a number of your comments).
Then explain. Other than "I'm trapped in the wrong body". What is wrong with accepting one's body? I'm sure if I told people that I wanted implants to increase my height because I felt too short, I would get some dirty looks.
And the people giving you the dirty looks in that case are the ones with the problem - not you.
Again, you seem to make numerous invalid assumptions that a transgendered person is acting contrary to biology, or (to an extent) doing so to intentionally making people uncomfortable. That is so far from the truth that right now, you can't see the truth with a good telescope. They are acting as is natural to their brain structure - and thus the problem is not with them, but with your perception of them. Which is, again, why the problem is yours to work out - not theirs.

Strangely enough, one of the girls that I know that plays WoW mains a hunter and is commonly found wearing Int mail because she likes the way it looks better. She never cleared ICC.
Haha I used to wear robes in towns on my hunter because they were prettier. This was only before max level though.

How do you turn your gayness down a notch?
And more importantly, should I 'turn my heteroness down a notch' if it made some gay people uneasy, for whatever reason?
That doesn't make any sense.

To kind of build on what Chaos said above:
I have absolutely no problem with gay people. I had a friend a little while back who came out to our group that he was gay and we just said "Oh ok. Let's go play Xbox."
BUT I really can't stand super flamboyant acting gays. I mean the ones that act more overly feminine than any girl would. It's ok if they act a bit feminine, but there's a line where it just becomes obnoxious.
There are annoying people, regardless of sexual preference, gender, race, etc...
That comes out as me seeming like a homophobe to people, but I really just can't stand idiotic people in general, that's just a "genre" I also dislike. There are a few people who think I'm seriously a homophobe, but I tell them what I'll tell you guys:
There's a difference between being gay, and being a #$%got.
Being gay means you are sexually attracted to members of the same sex.
Being a ^&*got means you are gay, but take it to nauseating extremes such as being unrealistically puts-Paris-Hilton-to-shame girly, shopping, annoying flamboyant-ness, and constant nuerotic self-promotion and whoring. The ones that really make sure you know they're gay.
Also: Inb4 my post is taken the wrong way and I get flamed

I have absolutely no problem with straight people.
BUT I really can't stand the incredibly jockish, testosterone-spewing guys. I mean the ones that act like they eat their meat raw and would f*** 24 hours a day if they could. It's okay if they act a bit masculine, but there's a line where it just becomes obnoxious.
-
I'm not trying to incite an argument, but do you see where I'm coming from? The outlandish behavior you describe can be exhibited by anyone, regardless of sexual orientation. An obnoxious person will be obnoxious regardless of who they sleep with.

Hey, I fully agree with you there. In fact, those people bother me too.
What I was trying to say, which I guess didn't come out right, is that their sexual orientation has nothing to do with it. It's just that when I say anything about a certain type of them, I get called a homophobe. That's why I quoted Chaos up there:

I knew my post would be taken the wrong way, lol. Xaratherus, you are one of the few on here who's opinion I really respect and agree with on most topics around this forum, when I found out you were gay that changed nothing. I was trying to make a point that just because I don't like something about them, doesn't mean it's the "controversial" part everyone will point out. It's like saying I hate some guy because he stole my bike, but if he turns out to be a certain race, it comes off as me being racist to some people.

Yes, but that doesn't mean you call them '%^&s,' you call them 'annoying.'
