You're not going to get a non-violent solution when the conflict is black and white.Nothing is black & white, unfortunately.
Violence should never be the answer to problems.
I agree that it's difficult to come up with a non-violent solution, but we cannot stop trying.

Yes and No, to us it may not be to them it pretty much is. You're best bet could be to split the land based off of population the force a UN arms embargo on both sides to stop them from arming up and going to war again. To protect Israel from its neighbors you could also have a small fleet sitting off shore, rotate through the countries of the UN. Though I'm not too sure what the potentially new muslim countries will think about IsraelThis is a better plan.

An arms embargo wouldn't do anything more than inflame things further. The Israeli's already embargo arms to the gaza strip, but that hasn't stopped Hamas from having plenty of rockets to hit Sderot.
Also, if you tried to embargo Israel, their domestic arms companies would more than likely be able to keep their military supplied easily.
Lot of idiocy in this thread already, try using your heads and stop believing the propaganda from either side.

The UN could put strong limits on Israels arms, like they did to Germany after WWI. The downside of trusting the UN is that well...its rather weak.
Technically that was the League of Nations, and even before the rise of the Nazis, Germany was circumventing those limitations by paying for arms to be produced in Russia, for Germany, and kept on Russian soil until Germany requested them. As you say, the limitations would be weak and easily avoided.

Ah yes, lets try and do what we did to Germany that made the German people feel downtrodden enough to trust Hitler...
Even if the U.N. could pass a resolution trying to limit Israel's domestic arms (something I doubt, as more than enough members would vote against something that intrusive), how would they go about enforcing it? Any attempt by a UN inspector to enter Israel and try to stop them would be laughable, as the Israeli's wouldn't even let the inspector(s) near their factories.

I am seeing the "current" situation of the past 60 years as "hang yourself". But things went out of control where America provided Israel with nuclear weapons.
