I never thought anything I'd
pick up in Performing Arts
would ever end up
applying to ponies
It's a Rarity for people to not be talking about MLP:FiM on the original.

It's a shame, really. If there's anything pony-related in a Youtube video not about em, people will start acting like the video murdered puppies. It makes me wonder, what do they want to accomplish? Do they try and make people give up enjoying the show/fandom, is it false homophobia (because most of the zealous haters think all bronies aren't straight), or is it just a giant magnet for the trolls?
...I can only imagine how bad things are for those brave enough to show their love of the show/fandom in real life...

you should have seen such peoples recent reaction to the ponified fanart of Mass effect. Bioware made an awesome post in response
but first some fluttershy...

and now the response from bioware

DiscordxTwilight? Huh, never heard of that one. Maybe its just because of my own interpretation of Discord, but I just can't see it.
Also, I'm working on Sweetie Bot story, but I feel its not my best work. Anyone want to help criticize what I have so far so I can bring it up to par?

I don't know, I just don't feel Discord
could
be a good character for any sort of extended period of time. He's not a mortal like the other ponies, but an actual embodiment of chaos in physical form. Honestly, I suspect he was behing the windigoes and Luna's transformation into NMM too.
As for the story, I'm nearly done with Act 1. Will post when I'm done.

I have to ask.
Please indulge me.
Other than resulting to obvious insults, what the heck is the draw of this?
It is a child's show, so what do grown, intelligent, mostly men see in this?
(I'm not even going to google this phenomenon, Has the lame cartoon aimed at girls I remember back in my youth been given a gritty reboot?)
It's not gritty at all, no. Compared to many tv shows marketed at young kids, however, it's a breath of fresh air. To be honest it's not difficult to google - you'd have a more satisfying answer more quickly.
The characters are enjoyable, pretty three-dimensional and people can identify with them. That's the main appeal to it for me.

It's actually far more amusing that the 80's version of the cartoon was the gritty one heh.
As for the new show; if people like it, it's good to them. But like all forms of entertainment, it's not for everyone. I don't like it but I don't hold it against anyone who does....well, unless they are the pony meme posters =P.

Sexist pig.
I wouldn't call Applejack flat at all. She's not as developed as many of the other main characters, but she's by no means a flat character.

Patty
She's also got a real sense of duty and also one of pride - think about how she refused to return to Ponyville in The Last Roundup, for instance.
You don't need to have a billion characteristics to be a well-developed character, as long as what is portrayed balances well, seems natural and is executed well.

It's weird and gross and people should just stop. That's my opinion on furries in general.

You've never seen a kid's cartoon that, rather than being 100% mind-numbing pablum, was something the parents could enjoy too?
Cartoon Network did a
lot
of them back in its heyday -- Dexter's Laboratory, The Powerpuff Girls, Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends, Samurai Jack -- and has a couple now -- Adventure Time, Regular Show.
Nickelodeon had some to a lesser extent -- Fairly Oddparents, Angry Beavers, and some hit-or-miss Spongebob episodes.
Disney's managed to hit that note more recently with Phineas and Ferb.
Pretty much everyone involved in the new MLP worked on at
least
one of those aforementioned shows, so even though the aim (at young girls) dictated by the franchise is clear, it still has that very strong vibe that resonates outside of its target demographic.
But I suppose if you think along the lines of "all cartoons are stupid kids' crap" (which I get the feeling is your position from the way your question is worded), then this one isn't going to impress you, either.
(I'm not even going to google this phenomenon, Has the lame cartoon aimed at girls I remember back in my youth been given a gritty reboot?)
I think the problem lots of people have is when MLP gets mentioned, they immediately think of those lame 80's
half-hour toy commercials
cartoons. And then grab the nearest bottle of sedatives.
This iteration of the show is not your father's Oldsmobile. Unlike the 80's one, you can watch it (as an adult) without wanting to gouge out most of the organs attached to your head. Well, okay, there was that
one
episode. We don't talk about
that
one.(##RESPBREAK##)2##DELIM##Sas148##DELIM##

I know right, what's wrong with these people making threads about their interests which happen to be different than mine.
I agree! I'm going to report everyone who posted in this thread for having a different opinion than mine! Then maybe I'll tell Big Brother about it! That'll show 'em!Big Brother Best Friend Forever is watching.
lolz
ur stoopidness iz affectin me
omg stop itt plzz
Dude, chill with the hostility. If this isn't for you, then it isn't for you, no need for either side to make a scene of this. No one's forcing you to watch it, at worst we'll just suggest it to you because of our personal opinion; just as you are free to suggest to us that we stop watching it. As long as neither of us get hostile about it - and I'll admit; some MLP fans can get pretty hostile about the show, unfortunately - we can coexist peacefully.
As for this thread being here; it's a public forum. As long as the nature of the thread and the posts within fall within acceptable site-guidelines, people can post whatever they want. If you don't want to have to put up with these threads, then ignore them. That's all that can really be done.
