What's your latency?

*I live in UK and play on EU*
I had a really bad ISP for a few years, average 300-400ms on WoW, this was before I started playing so I really didn't know that it was high latency (online gamer noob back then)
I had enough of that so I changed ISP, now I'm averaging 70 - 100ms which is a lot better, but then I tried a proxy, "lowerping" in fact and that dropped me down to 45-55ms now which is great.
No I'm not advertising them, just curious on the average players latency.
I got a few guildies and see some people bragging about their 12-core computer with 17ms latency.
I wonder how they get it so low? Or they're just exaggerating..aren't EU servers based in france?
Meaning players in france or on the south coast of UK will have the best latency?
I tried a Killer network card but that didn't help, at all, so I sold it.
Right now my latency is
56ms (home)
57ms (world)
My connection is 8 megabit ADSL copper-cable, I know fiber is way superior/faster but I don't live in an area like that.

I used to have about 20 ms back in TBC, now I average 100-150. Sometimes, especially when raiding, it can get over 200. I wish I knew the culprit but thankfully it's still low enough not to be noticeable.
As for all EU servers being in France, that's a common misconception. Many of them are, as Blizzard Europe is headquartered there, but many more are located in Germany and Sweden. See
here
for a detailed list.

Since the last maintenance it's been around 5000-7000 ms. I thought it was just me, but a lot of people on my server are now complaining of very high latency. It's so bad that it can sometimes take a minute or two to pick up/turn in quests, and killing mobs was a pain. Today it was so awful that I hardly played and even posting on the AH was frustrating. I felt sorry for the raiders in my guild as their raid was cancelled due to it.
Normally for me it's around 300ms. I don't know what's going on but it's making the game unplayable.

I used to hover around 160-200ms but after I installed
Leatrix Latency Fix
I'm usually at 55-70ms.

Depends on the server. Physical locations of english-speaking EU realms can be found in
WoWWiki.

This is a common misconception. Frankly fiber is just over-priced hype. Anything that gives you consistent ping below 100ms is good enough.
I have 97ms right now in a crappy ADSL 7mbit line, and I live on the other end of the country from the server I play on.

Up until recently the only isp I had access to was HughesNet satelite. Ran at 1500ms for a couple years, then took a break from wow and the net altogether, when I came back a year and a half later I got hughes again because it was still the only option...and it had gotten worse >.< was running anywhere from 2k-10k with anything over 5 being pretty much unplayable other than to chat :(
Thankfully a mobile broadband got coverage over us a few months ago and we got cards ASAP and now run usually around 200ms-400ms which feels awesome by comparison :D
Does sometimes still spike up to 600-800 but after running over 1k for years it's not too hard for me to adjust my play enough to compensate...I actually had a hard time not running into the bad stuff for a while because I was so used to having to be ahead of what was on my screen

Wow, I was expecting a bunch of people to have about 10-40ms
I dunno how people can live with 500+ ms, I would unsubscribe if I couldn't get my ping lower than 200.

I've raided with 650ms.
LEATRIX brings me down to around 400.

Weirdly, I've noticed a difference depending on what server I'm playing on.
(I'm also playing in the UK on EU servers.) Last night I tried to play my Horde characters on Xavius. HA! Completely unplayable at over 2k ms (my "usual" is around 90ms, with Leatrix). Tried doing my daily random and had to leave the group before the second boss, as it kept freezing for around 20 seconds, during which time I've got to guess at what I should be doing. Even tried to log an alt and quest for a while, but even then it would freeze, and I'd end up almost dead.
Logged into my Alliance characters on Nagrand and it was lovely. 40-50 ms, and I was able to do everything I wanted to do.
Ironically, when I checked that wow wiki list? Xavius is physically closer to me (in Paris) than Nagrand (Dusseldorf) is!

Around 70 ms I believe, no programs what so ever.
