So, I want to go ahead and level a Demonology warlock horde-side.
I was just wondering what race you guys would suggest? The only one I know I don't want is a goblin, as I despise the little yoda-wannabes.
I currently have an Undead Warrior, Rogue, and mage. A Belf hunter. A Tauren Shaman, and a Tauren DK.

Orcs have
Blood Fury
and
. So yeah, would be a good choice.
But play what you think looks best really.

I've been every race (including human--shudder). But I keep coming back to Orc for the spell power and pet damage (and maybe the overlarge shoulders).
From what I can tell, even with the racials, all races preform nearly the same just like each spec preforms nearly the same. Although, it's hard to shake a stick at spell power and pet damage. Yet there is always the allure of the luxuriously, long, flowing hair of the Blood Elves. Just remember you will need a scrunchy.

I assume you are talking about the effects that the racials will have on you as a lock.
They make no difference/ or are equal to each other. Just pick which ever racial model you prefer and run with it.

But undead have the best hair and dances. Go with whatever floats your boat, I'm undead.
We also have the coolest casting animations, and of course the easiest women ;)

The Goblin racial
is an increase to casting speed, not a Haste increase. It's still appealing, but no extra DoT ticks there. Besides, the best parts about Goblins are the personal banker, rocket boots and exalted pricing.
This is simply not true. Goblins get 1% haste even if it is worded a bit different.

You are simply -wrong-. Attack and casting speed, and haste rating are two different things.

Then I wonder why the people that know all the math state that goblins need less haste to get to haste break points...
Get your facts straight before you post 'facts' without backing it up.

I've found this sort of calculations from EJ for instance.
Also notable fact is that
Bloodlust
has same sort of tooltip and it does increase haste (at least this is what I remember).

just as an addendum to what Maana says about haste bonuses being multiplicative and providing more than their actual percentage in benefit...
casting speed is worked out by turning your haste rating into a percentage ( rating / 12805 = percent) and then applying each other haste buff multiplicatively with that figure.
the formula is:
New.Cast.Time = Normal.Cast.Time / ((1 + (Haste.Rating / 12805)) * buff * buff * buff)
in this case we're talking about one of those buffs being 1% or a 1.01 multiplier. other similar buffs are dark intent's 3% (1.03) and 5% (1.05) from priests/druids/shamans
these buffs make the formula look like:
New.Cast.Time = Normal.Cast.Time / ((1 + (Haste.Rating / 12805))
* 1.05 * 1.03 * 1.01)
however, while it's true that a 1% haste buff is better than 128.05 haste rating (the haste rating required to provide 1% haste through gear at max level) this benefit is best not to be overstated since the difference is so infinitesimal as to be only visible in theorycraft and not at all in game.

I'm a goblin. It wasn't the cast speed that got me as much as the bank and exalted pricing. Plus, I always liked how it can be harder to target the smaller characters in pvp, I just hated gnomes.
I would honestly just say to pick what you think looks better, but if you are set on having racials, I always really liked Blood Fury in PvE situations, and the pet buff would be good for demonology. Plus Orc shoulders look badass!

i actually have no idea about "time is money" specifically. i play alliance pretty much exclusively so it's not something that interests me enough to test or look up. i was just addressing a point of interest and not intending to wade into the disagreement.
the test is as simple as maana mentions though. roll a new goblin or get a high level one naked and see what the paper doll says. a recent patch has made haste buffs from all the various sources display on the character sheet.
