If the comments are truly useless, people will vote them down and they will disappear.
If more people feel that they are helpful, it will stay.
The system is wonderful, it's a waste of human resources to send a mod to check each post, even if you are right. (I don't agree that you are right, people come to Wowhead for quick and cheap answers.)

If you think a comment is not useful vote it down; if other people agree with you and also vote it down then it will be automatically deleted!

You mean like people posting on multiple items about how many Archaeology attempts it took to make it?

Think about it this way, the comments may not be useful to you, but they may be useful to other people.
For example, you said (example: "This is a very good item for a fire mage since it has critical chance/haste rating but since it doesn't have hit, you may have to be hit capped otherwise")
Hello, goodbye, thank you very much, we knew that already.
What's most disturbing is that even if one didn't know already that's definitely the wrong way to do it. If you need to theorycraft you don't go to every single item in the game and discuss it. You learn the theory and everything is common sense.
However, what if it is that person's first time playing WoW, and they don't know anything about stats, and they find out that this particular piece of armor is good for a mage.
They go, "Wow! I didn't know that," and then they get gear that is good for their class, and they all lived happily ever after.
You go, "Well,
I
already knew that, so everyone else does too."
See the flaw in your reasoning?

It's better than Thottbot, where most of the comments I saw related to other commentors' penis sizes or the lack thereof. ;p
