How are honor points in Battlegrounds figured?
Return to board index

I am at a total loss on how honor points are awarded in battlegrounds? I just finished Arathi Basin, and got 10 honor points. I had 4 killing blows, died 8 times, 22 honorable kills, and did 54000+ damage. Another player on my (losing) team got 15 honor points. the only stat he had 14 honorable kills. No killing blows, no deaths, no damage dealt, no healing done, nothing. How the heck does he get 5 extra points for doing nothing?

I don't know, only thing I figure is he didn't die.

Sounds like a solid win for bots everywhere! Hell, all they have to do is be programmed to move to one location (a flag) and cast one spell over and over again on themselves (a simple buff spell should work) and voila! More honor than people that are actually
playing
the game!
Good job Blizzard!

I played the battleground again. Similar results. I got 11 honor points, someone with only 14 honor kills, but no other stats get 16 honor points.
Below is a link to the screenshot of the results.

Notice the change to the Honor column from the way it was back in Burning Crusade. It used to say "Bonus Honor" it now says "Honor Gained". This column now factors in the honor from honorable kills. Notice the people who gained the most honor have substantially higher HKs than you do.
At least, I'm fairly certain this is the reason, just in my own experience.

I understand why some (many) people got more than I did, but what about the dude with 14 HK, and nothing else...... I am not talking about getting less HP than most (my skills need some work I know), it is the one(s) that are getting more by doing nothing.

You don't have to do much to get HKs. If you get an HK, you get honor. There is currently no system in place which takes into account for damage done to the target who was killed. All that matters is you were part of the kill and therefore got honor for it, thus increasing your overall honor gained.
Let's just say, there is a reason I PvP'd while leveling as boomkin in WotLK. Starfall = More HKs = More Honor.
