Though it's pretty close, saying 'over 50%' isn't accurate in that case. 8+5+1.8 doesn't equal less than 14
Damage != DPS.

Tanks will leave group
after they get the rep the needed
or the
item they wanted didn't drop off the first boss
and they leave with out a reason.
Those are reasons, maybe bad reasons to you, the DPS, but good enough reasons for the tank.
Why would they continue the dungeon if the dungeon has nothing more to offer them and they aren't obligated to help you?
I've seen DPS drop group for the same reasons, it's not limited to just tanks.

Numerical example:
Hunter does 14k DPS, but he stays in combat for 10 seconds, that's 140000 damage.
Warlock does 8k DPS, but he stays in combat for 5 seconds, that's 40000 damage.
Tanks does 5k DPS, but he stays in combat for 10 seconds, that's 50000 damage.
Death Knight does 1.8k DPS, but he stays in combat for 5 seconds, that's 9000 damage.
The two damager dealers and tank total up to 99000 damage, that's less than 140000 damage done by the hunter.

Sorry but I have to point out: sounds like you are
okay
with a group member, regardless of role, leaving in the middle of an instance.
Unless, of course, they really have to leave. Problem being you can not trust a random player, possibly from another realm, when they say they have no option.
I have had to leave several instances that I wanted to finish not only because there is personal gain but because I
1) don't want to force anyone to wait for the replacement, be it dps, tank or healer
2) do
NOT
want others to think that I left because my trinket drops from the boss we just killed etc. possibly encouraging them to start doing that later on.

palidan syndrom
Paladin* syndrome*
Post by

I was on my Pally Prot/Retri specced I needed on tank gear and the frigging tank questions me. Anyway, I win the blasted thing, some chest piece and the Tank bounces whining that he lost gear to an "off-spec".
Main spec > Off spec
Your main spec is what you entered the dungeon as. You can't roll on tank gear when you're dps unless the tank doesn't need. Its just not cool.
Hah! you my friend evdiently have very little experience with the
palidan syndrom
, you see a majority of them feel that they are entitled to every caster/dps and tanking plate-ring-trinket-cloak-weapon etc that drops irregardless of their current spec gear.....doesn't matter if a rare elite
Blockade's Lost Shield
Blockade's Lost Shield drops and the tank who happens to be a warrior sporting a blue shield needs it (prot warriors go after items with parry for the
Hold the Line
which increases our critical block everytime we parry an attack, and Palidans (the non retarded type) go for dodge items which induces a similar proc based off of dodge/dodging attacks.
For the guy who hates Shaman healers.....gtfo..so you got a retard who failed at healing you and the toon happen to be a Shaman, if you weren't aware healer/dps caster gear is the same for elemental and resto, you probably got a elemental shaman trying to beat the que...it happens just like the fing tanks and dps wearing healer trinks, neck, rings and pvp gear to make the 333 ILVL cutoff to get into heroics.
based on my experience so far I have found that mages and hunters so far have been the worst at pulling before the tank, locks do not know how to control their pets worth a damn, mages, furys and dks are the worst at controlling their aggro.
I play as dps when I'am not tanking and when I do eat dirt I know it is my own fault hence I know better then to complain to the tank or healer...
If one dps is recieving so much damage it requires the healer to focus on them to keep them from dieing then imo they should be allowed to die....the tank is keeping aggro, if he/she was not the other 3 people would be receiving damage also....I know better so when I get a smartazz melee running his mouth about aggro I tell him to feel free to leave and whisper the healers no more healz for him.
Marking the kill order and cc, I know it is part of the fundamental tankcraft, it lessens the strain on the healer and decreases wipe chance, but after being ignored, whine to and at 100000000000000 times you began to see the futility in it....if the group ask for it to be done I welcome doing it, if not I mark a skull and x and do my best and pray the healer is up to the task...for bosses I almost always do a brief outline of the hazzards and positioning and assignments.
I pull agrro of the tank on purpose. its dead before it manages to get to me anyway.
Ezraked, your friendly neighborhood mage.

When people playing classes with interupts but wont use them when it can save tank/healer (rest of grp) lot of pain it makes me angry.
Pretty fun sometimes in LFD when it comes to MS//OS, got SFK hc yesterday on my Holy Paladin and we got to last boss and downed him with 1 wipe no biggy.
Had inspected tank cause he was only other plate user (Dk) and he had an nice heroic tanking chest, from last boss it droped some meh cloth and an dps plate chest so I figured "Wieee" Retri roxxor here I come !.
And the dk started rageing about holy needing an OS pice ? when it was OS for him as well :P Tried to talk to him but "NO NO GIEF GIEF MEZA THAT PICE......." -.- (sigh)

Of course I would prefer them to stay and contribute, I was just saying that there are reasons bigdaddyrulez mentioned but discounted.
Then again, I'd prefer scrubs to leave the dungeon than to continue with subpar performance.

People coming in with res sickness.
I can tolerate it if it's like a minute or two, but I usually get people who spirit ressed just because the dungeon que popped up, so they have the full ten minutes.

People who enter dungeon and go haring off only to (usually) die a swift death... I'm not saying we should all hold hands and sing a song before we start killing but at least make sure everyone has loaded in fully and tossed their buffs if they want to, bonus if there's time to eat a buff food/take an elixir, and set focus target.
People who either want to cc everything (when the group doesn't need to) or wants to cc nothing (when they group does need to).
People that gripe, moan, complain, play blame games, and in general make themselves a pita. It's a random, come in, play your role, if the group isn't working for you drop and move on...it doesn't do anyone any good to whine and be miserable or have a little flame fest over who did or did not interupt/cc/damage/whatever.

I'm beginning to get ticked off by paladin tanks, who spam
Hammer of the Righteous
regardless of the number of targets. I had a horrible Blackrock Caverns run because of this, with AoE from the hammer breaking CC on Beauty, as well as aggroing shadows on Obsidius and whatnot.
