Latest additions
Absorbs for 12% of the amount healed, up from 10%.
Absorb shield now lasts 15 sec, up from 8 sec.
Each point of Mastery increases the absorb amount by an additional 1.5%, up from 1.25%.
And
now also procs from
Avenger's Shield
.
Now lasts 10 sec, down from 15 sec.
The change to Sacred Duty is interesting. Its still a 50% chance tho. The only time where your going to need more threat from Shield of the Righteous, is during the first 30-60 seconds of a pull. If it doesn't proc then, Its like you never speced for it anyways. There is no question that this change along with the change to extra holy power from AS will definitely increase the damage output of this talent.
Might be interesting option to take once more changes are finalized.
Cheers,
Hat

New blue post on WoG
I recently spoke to the devs about this, and their direction on it has not changed. We want Ret to be able to heal. However, if a Ret paladin is healing so often that a 20 second cooldown is a constraint, then that Ret paladin is spending too many GCDs healing. Spending a lot of GCDs on heals isn’t what we want a DPS spec to be doing.
We’d rather it be a big heal that is used infrequently, than a small heal that is only makes a difference to you if you give a lot of your GCDs to it.

This was in response to a person who was posting mostly about PVP Ret so of course the blue answer is talking about Ret, but it makes me sad that yet again, I don't see a reference to prot =/

Bump re: Selfless Healer change (triple duration on the buff).
If someone has some numbers for dummy DPS and average TV hit I would be happy to do a little bit of napkin math, but based on the napkin math I did when the talent was first introduced I think it'll be a DPS increase now.

Added the following changes.
Retribution
Selfless Healer
The damage bonus from this talent now has a 30 sec duration instead of 10 sec.
Bug Fix
Avenger's Shield
can no longer be blocked. (bug fix)
debuff can no longer trigger talents and other effects. (bug fix)
: Fixed a tooltip error that stated swings at targets with
fully stacked dealt 9% weapon damage. They actually dealt 15% damage and the tooltip has been updated accordingly. (bug fix)

Edit: I also just thought what a pain it could be if it becomes required to throw a heal for max dps, in terms of targets being out of range, LoS problems etc. I really hope Blizzard rethinks this.
Realistically, a melee DPS is never going to have NO ONE around to heal. Unless you're dead or weren't standing on the right side of the gate when the fight started.

Raid frames that fade out when the person is out of healing range should work.

Blizz have now reverted the Selfless healer change, so it is back to being a dps loss in PvE. I for one am glad they did it.
Taking it off the change list and my updated post a couple of posts back.
ZW, I agree with you. I'm glad that this change didn't happen. I don't play ret enough to master the rotation, It would have been even harder trying to keep another 30 second buff up.

I doubt it. Though it would begin to feel extremely like a Mutilate rogue in 3.0 (before hunger for blood was changed to not stack).
